Tak Fujii recently got interviewed at the Tokyo Game Show...

Tak Fujii recently got interviewed at the Tokyo Game Show. I thought the way he expressed his love for making games was pretty amazing and want other people to see it.

>Additionally I’ve been sick for 4 years and am still under medication, but games still give me a chance to have fun and motivation to live another day, and a chance to show my fun ideas to the world. Making games is a part of my life and will continue throughout my life. Japanese video game and manga culture is hype and I believe it does have a unique power give people passion to live another day for depressed people, like me in past few years, fighting and suffering from an incurable disease.
>Games and manga can provide a unique vision of virtual worlds. We know it’s virtual, but it becomes hope for those in certain situations. We will be motivated to live for tomorrow because there is hope. Real life is tough but the imaginary game worlds we create can provide some little help to be motivated for tomorrow.
>I might be stable with this condition for a while, or might have to enter to the hospital again soon... I can't control this so I decided not to think about my illness anymore and stay focused and thankful for extra days to live (TIME EXTENDED!), and think about how I can leave something after me.
>Hopefully my work can be part of helping someone, and I want to spend rest of my short life to do so, and I want to tell the younger generation about the greatness of video games.

It's kinda funny that the game he is promoting (Gal Metal) is so silly but that seems kinda fitting too. I hope it gets an English release. It's a rhythm game for the Switch about a boy and girl who get merged by aliens and have to share the girls body and play the drums in a band for some reason to fix things.

Thanks for sharing.
His Twitter is great as well.

>>Hopefully my work can be part of helping someone, and I want to spend rest of my short life to do so, and I want to tell the younger generation about the greatness of video games.

Damn, that's sad. It's terminal?

>Tak Fujii is unironically my favourite dev with Kamiya
>Used to tweet him back when extreeeeeeeme was popular.
>Replied to me a few times and wished me a extreeeeeme new year I think.

S-senpai noticed me !!!!

Truly based. Escapism is really the best

Very nice.

I like this way of thinking. Best of luck to him.

Yeah it's cancer

I love Japanese rhythm games but I'm doubtful of a Western release for this.

>Japanese dev: games are awesome and I hope my games help people to endure bad times
>Western devs: I HATE ALL OF YOU REEEEEEEEEEE

I love how hard this guy rides the meme train.

;_;7

I was going to bring this point up.

Japanese devs work to death yet can still find some room to be thankful, and extract some personal joy from their work.

>It's a rhythm game for the Switch
I like the concept but I didn't see the motion controls looking so good, in fact I don't even like motion controls, is there a way to choose to play with button prompts?

It's depressing how I've burned years of my life as a NEET while this guy tries to make the best of the short time that he still has.

Didn't some dumb Polygon bitch criticise the game for she did not understand the controls and tutorials because they were in japanese? On fucking TGS, what did she expect? Tak Fuji knows english and he dicussed about her botched preview saying it wasn't fair on her part, she should have asked him about how the controls worked, he was right there close to her, everyone knows Tak Fuji can speak english (WOOOW).

>On fucking TGS, what did she expect?

I know people here know this, but it just needs to be said now.

Game Journalism is shit.

>2013
Check his twitter right now, his profile pic still is the same from his 2010 Konami conference, the guy cut that hair short years ago (probably due chemo) and still embraces the meme.

WAN

MIRRION

PLEASE tell me he isn't terminal
Please

Tak Fuji looks honestly like the type of passionate dude you'd spend a night drinking with and discussing about life, it's cool that he tries to stay positive with all the shit that's happening to him and bring that positivity through his work for the players..

Dunno, but how can it be terminal? Tak getting cancer is quite old news so if he is still fighting it then I guess it isn't terminal, maybe he is just preparing for the worst?

He says himself there that it's incurable. Impression I get is that he's stable but he doesn't anticipate having more than 5 years left tops. Sucks, but what can you do?

TWOOPS

fuck
It's always the best people that don't get to live.

The kind of person gaming developing needs, but doesn't deserve.

>Embraces escapism
>New game has you becoming the little girl
/ourguy/

>wun million pills
fuck man

I love how this is the one guy that would legit be happy and appreciative if we sent him a card, but no, you idiots only send cards to mega corps.

Iwata was the head of a megacorp, not a megacorp himself. And the card only hastened his demise.

I know stuff like that happens, but god damn i feel sad for the guy. He's been fighting but yet he puts the pleasure of making games and sharing them with people above all that like it's nothing. Motherfucking Tak Fuji ladies and gentlemen, i wish there were more people like him

>you idiots only send cards to mega corps.
Iwata was passionate as Tak, only that Sup Forums was fucking retarded and sent the card to Nintendo Treehouse, the card is hanging up on SJW's living room wall right now.

I think I'm actually gonna make a twitter and tweet him.
is that how it works? Would he be able to see the message?

Yeah I really want this to get a release in North America. It looks like something that could actually do something with the HD rumble.

What sucks is that the Switch is region free but this probably isn't going to get a physical release so we won't be able to import it. I just want to support the guy.

I doubt he even cares about the money at this point.

Cool guy

I wish him the best

I think it just means they now gave him only a couple of months / maybe a year or 2 left to live.

fucking polygon i swear to god

Twitter also lets you send direct messages instead of tweets.

HE WAS THE SICK GUITAR RIFFS ON SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT, for fuck's sake, how could I not know this. The guy has baggage.

I want to protect him from shitlords.

Was he really? How'd you find that out?

Me too i want this guy to get the joy and happiness he deserves for working so hard to make people happy

Tak Fuji was mostly a sound designer and music performer at Konami, he only produced a few games in his final years there.

giantbomb.com/tak-fujii/3040-98215/credits/

We really need a hulk hogan thing to happen with polygon

>That sickass guitar riff in Prologue
Bless tak
youtube.com/watch?v=XUkuxAfC328&list=RDXUkuxAfC328&t

Kotaku didn't even die in the end after getting Hogan'd, some Mexican journalism conglomerate bought them out.

That sucks. Ten years after his Konami meme conference, he dies. :(

>I might be stable with this condition for a while, or might have to enter to the hospital again soon... I can't control this so I decided not to think about my illness anymore and stay focused and thankful for extra days to live (TIME EXTENDED!), and think about how I can leave something after me.

DO NOT BULLY TAK

>TIME EXTENDED!
I read that in a Daytona usa voice.
Fucking tak, I will literally never forget him.
I never fail to smile when I think about that konami e3 thing

madman

The treats wont stop flowing anons

Tak is the hero Sup Forums needs to stem the tide of newfags

The world won't be the same with him gone

Makes sense that he'd be into making a rhythm game.

>"Will take wun million pills by the end of this nightmare"

can we trade Miyamoto's life with his?

No fucking way man, he's a legend
>Those solos

Those past E3s were simpler times.

His new game looks pretty cool
Kinda reminds me of Gitaroo Man

Here's some actual footage of him at TGS. Having a blast.
