Will there ever be a game that tops this?

Will there ever be a game that tops this?

No.

Looks like Odyssey is getting there

odyssey maybe and the next zelda

Already exists.

Probably another Zelda game that takes everything this game did right and also improve on everything this game did wrong.

Literally any Rockstar game.

This was the least fun zelda game I've ever played desu, and I've played hourglass.

Proof or it didn't happen, faglord.

maybe you are too old f4m, time to find something new to do

Elder Scrolls 6 will blow it out of the water.

Good one.

Here

Was so boring I couldn't even play it on a fucking plane.

>Wine Waker did ages ago

This man speaks the truth

Story structure beats wandering around, make your own story, wanna be survival game, autism simulator any day.

Shitposters need not apply to this thread.

This will in 3 weeks

Todd's seasonal lies are the best times to be on Sup Forums

This.

>Wine Waker
My man of Nigerian decent

Not even. Mainline Mario hasn't been good in almost decade.

Nobody here's old enough to have played it.

I'm sure there will be. Maybe the sequel. God this game was amazing though.

Was just thinking this morning about how this game has the greatest trees of any video game and how it makes every other game look worse just by existing.

is the joke that we haven't had a mainline mario in more than a decade?

>the galaxy games weren't good

Correction. Galaxy 2 wasn't good.

yes it was

No it wasn't.

Ocarina of Time

ok fine you win gg

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>[breaths in]

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

Ocarina of Time is outdated shit.

The sequel that takes its engine and makes an actual Zelda game out of it.

TP is what OOT wishes it could be

/thread. BoTW is good and all, but that engine has a fuckton of potential for an excellent sequel that fixes its problems.

but TP is just OoT nostalgia the game

yes times infinity times infinity plus 1

The Galaxies were good. Mario 3D Land is what started the Nu-tendo Mario decline.
>every single fucking mario game uses the 3D land saxophone jazz shit, no unique soundtracks since
>fixed camera angle
>level based instead of world based
>way too easy

Twilight Princess is, objectively speaking, better than Ocarina of Time since it did the exact same thing on a newer engine. Twilight Princess is not better than BOTW

neither was Zelda and here we are

Correction: TP wishes it was what OoT was.

Except it isn't because it's way more linear and locked down, has a terrible introduction that takes way too fucking long, tons of bad gimmicks and setpieces, and so on and so forth. It's not like OoT at all.

Why? It's better in every way

I have the game and finished it. BOTW is a solid 7.5 game.

Persona 5 and Nier Automata were better.

Its already been topped BotW is shit.

M'kay, Jim Sterling.

I also played Persona 5 and Nier: Automata. Persona 5 sucked and Automata was mediocre and disappointing. BotW is the greatest game ever.

LTTP, MMX, SM64, the list goes on.

Zeldafags on suicide watch.

>more linear and locked down
Not at all. OoT is just as linear.
>has a terrible introduction that takes way too fucking long
Maybe. OoT has this too, but it's a lot shorter, I'll give you that.
>tons of bad gimmicks and setpieces
The only thing I can think of here is the Wiimote controls, which is alleviated if you play the GC version, and Wolf Link, which was sort of pointless and had pretty shallow gameplay but didn't bring down the game as a whole

>M'kay, Jim Sterling.
Not an argument. Man, why Nintendo drones so fucking delusional? You shouldn't tie your self esteem to a game company.

That's your opinion and I hope you still enjoy BOTW no matter what anyone says. Lets hope the DLC comes out soon.

Odyssey

The level design and bosses are incredibly disappointing. The new items kind of sucked. There weren't very many secrets. The game is all around way too easy. Hyrule field was bigger, but it was full of nothing. The wolf controlled horribly. Story was never one of Zelda's strong points, but this one especially played out like an edgy teenager fanfiction. Shitty, bland wolf sections early-game.

OoT is not anywhere near as linear. You have a lot of choice in how you tackle objectives as long as you get all of them. You don't seem to remember how TP actually played, because it railroads you from cutscene to setpiece to dungeon ad nauseum. Nobody seems to remember how awful it is about this. You're constantly forced to do bug hunting, random minigames like flying with one of the twilight birds, the bridge fight, escorting a caravan, shooting up a deserted town, and all of this other shit that isn't very well implemented or fun. Every step of the way, there's only one critical path that you're shoved along.

Yes. Yes it is my opinion. It's also my opinion that people who like Persona 5 are crazy. I like nu-Persona and I can't figure out what the fuck people like about 5.

It's a great game. It's not perfect, but it made many improvements over the previous entries. That being said, I hope they go back to high schoolers fighting Shadows in private. I wasn't a huge fan of the Phantom Thieves being open

This. Nintendo really went full retard with Mario games on WiiU and 3DS that I nearly gave up on the franchise.

Not shitposting. Was actually on a flight to Japan and I got bored after 20 minutes.

The last good Mario game was SMG2. I'm glad Miyamoto took the backseat for Odyssey. I truly think it's time to put the likes of him and Aonuma on the bench.

What improvements?
I play Persona games for three reasons. One is for the story, two is for the characters and all of their subplots, and three is for some time/life sim gameplay. Four is for cute girls. In my opinion 5 completely failed at every single one of these.

The story is goofy and retarded: the motivations of the characters are weaker, the villains are just the worst things ever, and the entire premise doesn't make any sense. The plot peaked with Kamoshida and went into a death spiral as soon as it introduced Makoto, culminating in a series of terrible end game twists that didn't really have a point. It tries to wrap everything up by saying it was all an experiment or bet Yaldy made to prove a point to himself that he rigged in his favor. What the fuck were the stakes even?

The social links were the most shallow and vapid they've ever been. It's dominated by "cute" girls for you to fuck that don't actually have character arcs. You just waste time until a bad situation happens and resolve it via magic brainwashing most of the time. It's so far removed from the links in 3 where side characters did their own thing that built up the theme of the game, or 4 where you helped them become better people. 5's are awful, boring, and worst of all, ridiculously predictable.

Anyway compared to that, the gameplay problems are pretty minimal because I don't think these games are much fun without the writing backing them up. But there's still gameplay problems. The ticking clock setup of P5 makes the least sense out of any of them. There's tons of activities but no real reason to pursue them unlike in 4, and the whole game is totally trivialized by fortune telling so there's not really a need to plan or schedule.

The combat's exactly like 4 where physical AoEs destroy everything, but with criticals being brokenly good so nothing stands a chance. Negotiations are a dumb mechanic of multiple choice quizes. The fixed dungeons are worse than anything in Zelda.

2bh I'm so glad this game exists on Wii U so I can just emulate on it on my PC instead of waiting for 5 years for a functioning Switch emulator.

The original one on DS was cool, but all the extra ones after that weren't necessary.

is this the dark souls of the zelda souls serious
