The most basic party comp in every EO is vanilla-swordsman/tank front row and bow-and-arrow/medic/caster back row. I'm guessing EOV is the same, you can almost use the party on the cover except swap masurao for rover.

Might surprise you, but from what I've seen, most EO players are buyfags, at least for EO.
Doesn't help that we've burnt out discussion by constant threads since the demo was out, and many people who could hack their 3DS and wanted to pirate it already smashed through it when it was released a year ago.

I know I'm not the only one to have this happen, but man, I almost fucking hate the demos due to how tight some of them are. I try to have these optimum set ups or at least those I like, and then they don't matter once the full game hits anyways, because the numbers are fucked. Hell, there's times I almost like the demos better than the full game. EO4 was definitely that way for sure.

The tank is just to protect the mage at the start of each fight. They're basically dead weight.

I've always played these games for the dungeon crawling first and party building second. The setting and story are just the cherry on top.

There's story, but its not THAT big a deal. The characters are the ones you make, come up with who they are and how they act on your own, if you can't, you're just an unimaginative fuck. There are a few NPC's that exist, but they're just NPC's, they're not really all that amazing.

Does the party you make have any kind of personality or dialog? SaGa 2 had a system where you had a generic party of four, and there was a little system where you could pick their personalities and they'd have a little interaction. I like that kind of thing.

No. They don't interact, unfortunately. In EOV, the one in OP, has it so you can give them a voice, but it doesn't really do that much, and doesn't get used for dialogue as far as I can tell. Once again, come up with their personalities, backstory, and how they act on your own.

I've never played on my DS outside the house so I can't answer this. The game automatically paints tiles that you've stepped on, if it's hard to map on a bus you can just come back later to fill in the walls and just mark the important things like shortcuts, events etc.

It's one of those games I feel is best enjoyed in long sessions, though taking a break between those sessions can be good.

Tbh western games simply feel boring to me. They gave me the feel that they take themselves too seriously. Weebs in this regard just do whatever they want and create colorful and fun looking characters. Even if I'm not into lolis, I give them credit for breaking out of the usual fantasy tropes where the West got stuck in, and let their creative juices flow. Sometimes they fuck up and do over the top things, but sometimes they create gems.
