Will we ever get another good ATB JRPG? I miss it a lot. As archaic as the battle system was, it was half of what drew me to FF/CT/DQ/etc.

aryan white male BTFO by badass dyed hair PoC womyn poltards can never recover
>woman has higher speed than a man
>it's another "OP posts Sup Forums bait and doesn't actually want legitimate game discussion" episode
>attacking your own party member
>casual shit playing on wait instead of active
>pink haired nigger assaults white man
>women having the strength to hit 9999
Should've been a surprise round
but HE started the fight, so he can go first
>that dumb as fuck le hipster colored person character
>fucks up the menu and ruins the "joke"
At least she didn't beat him by telling him the cake is a lie
The absurdity of turn based combat is the point. If she gets to spend her turn finding a metal bat and swinging it in a full arc I should hope she could knock a guy out with it.
There's nothing absurd about it. Seeing people try to turn abstract gameplay concepts into WHAT IF IT WAS REAL LIFE jokes is completely fucking played out.
>what are ambush battles
>The absurdity of turn based combat
It's an abstraction, dingdong.
it's not a smart or funny abstraction though
What does that have to do with anything? Why would it need to be funny?
lol
>ATB game
>Retards put it on wait instead of active.
What's even the fucking point then you stupid fucks.
Person who does that here, I find fun in minmaxing damage and item usage. There's usually very little real challenge in leaving it active and just pressing forward, so I switch it to wait and try to use the absolute minimum number of turns and items possible.
but he initiated combat, therefor he gets the first attack regardless of speed, right?
In all fairness turn based combat is simply trying to condense real life fighting into something emulateable in a game much simpler than real life. Generally, the person more prepared for the fight attacks first, but we can't discount the fact that there are people naturally tensed and with good enough reflexes and adaptability to strike first in a hostile situation. The more nuanced aspects of combat that are lost in translation are phased back in as you move away from turn based combat into more modern interpretations
>Mugger gets a pre-emptive strike
>Talks about speed stat while pointing at health bar
>both sides' health bars are on the party menu
I DON'T LIKE IT
No shit. Hence, it is an abstraction. That's what it fucking means
...
>>Talks about speed stat while pointing at health bar
>>both sides' health bars are on the party menu
Those are the ATB bars, not the HP ones.
Holy shit I'm a fucking retard.
I still don't like it though.
I'm more bothered by the HP difference, and that she's able to do that much damage.
