How come no one talks about Mother 3? Do you think it'll ever be officially translated?

we already talked about it for years
It's insane that they did Mother 1 and not 3. Did they think because no one bought the game no one wants they wouldn't buy the game everyone wants?
Mother 1 was already fully translated by NoA ages ago before they cancelled its release.
Everyone already played it years ago.
They wouldn't do it without gutting it.
Ive come to peace with the franchise, I played the fan translation, Earthbound and even the first Mother game and I'm content with where the series went and dont need more. If the fan made one ever releases and it's decent, I'll try it, but like I said, its gone. Great series, love the three of them. Something about the first Mother game that gives off such a sad tone. Even the commercial with Eight Melodies:

Mother 3 already had its spotlight years ago with the fantranslation. Sure, people meme about Nintendo and folks wanting Mother 3, but when the series is finished, the Mother 4 fangame changed its name and certain things to not get shut down by Nintendo amidst their lawyers murdering fan projects, and there's nothing really new or interesting to talk about? It shouldn't surprise you to see things mostly mute about it now besides the occasional thread that spurs folks into conversation and shitposting about it.
wait thers a mother 3? i thought that the game got cancelled.
And starmen offered to let them use theirs.
There's nothing left to talk about user.
Twincest!
who cares?
Because it's pretty damn old, and we've long since exhausted most reasonable discussion about it.
Mother 3 got an official-quality localization. Not just a translation thrown on to the game, they localized shit. Changed graphical assets, re-balanced some broken things, fixed bugs.
I wouldn't ever expect it. Enjoy what we got, because it's great. I would argue better than anything we'd get out of a modern day translation.
Considering that the translation patch likely was breaking Nintendo's EULA and was used largely on illegally obtained ROMs, and this was an open secret, I always wondered why Nintendo never laid down their fist on it like so many other projects.
They knew they would never bring it over because of the magipsies so they dont care
>M3 releases
>pay like 60 dollars on top of the game's cost to get 2-day shipping from Japan
>play through it 3 times in Japanese
>fan translation countdown begins
>order GBA flash cart
>arrives same day the translation came out
>play English Mother 3 on real hardware
>dick explodes from all the fun I'm having
>finish the game several more times over the course of the next few years because it's just that fucking fun
>easily favorite game ever made
because they explicitly mentioned they would never offer ROMs, and they never offered anything but a random patch file which has no legal precedent to being shut down.
tomato also had enough of a following, and there were enough people interested in it that there could have been an actual legal battle, which nintendo would have lost.
Nintendo never actually lays down their fist on anything, they give out C&Ds, and people comply. Because you can argue AM2R used metroid 2 assets and they'd lose a legal battle because of it.
someone giving out a patch file? That's no different than someone transcribing the script for a movie and posting it online. Not illegal in any stretch. And the people of starmen were and are super fucking committed to earthbound.
I'd rather not let NoA localize Mother 3 with their memery and shitbagging. It's only chance at a decent official release died a long time ago. Just play the SM eng version.
A patch for a game is likely on completely separate legal waters than an entire fangame using the same IP. On top of that, it's been out for a while and the patch is everywhere, not to mention that it doesn't seem like they have any plans to localize it anytime soon, so a C&D probably wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on when it comes to "protecting muh brand".
>9 years since the release of the fan translation
Man, I didn't realise it had been so long. I'm happy with what we've got though, the fan translation is as high quality as any we'd get from an official localisation, even better I'd say. As for further sequels/fan-games, I just don't see the point without Itoi there.
They dropped. It was to gay for the west.
the n64 version did
You ever notice how in video games pigs are always evil?
