Why don't people like Final Fantasy XV?
What went so WRONG with Final Fantasy XV
Other urls found in this thread:
it's a shitty game that wasn't even finished
I think this pasta covers most of the issues, feel free to add more.
>Story presentation is the worst it's ever been: In order to get the full story you need to watch an anime and a movie and even then it's still not complete with most events happening off screen in the linear part which is when the narrative is supposed to improve
>Open world was a mistake and I mean that 100%, every quest is a fetch quest of the nth degree with zero substance in any of them and outside of one or two dungeons there is nothing interesting to find in the world
>Combat is riddled with problems such as inconsistent hit stun properties, no launch moves, enemies don't proper telegraph moves (Tabata said this was to add to realism) and the camera getting hung up on things makes combat a mess
>Additionally it's impossible to die because you are given a buffer zone when your health reaches 0 for you to pop a potion and you are going to have a lot of these
>Contrived moments like Prompto being an MT having zero relevance to anything
>Car is entirely on rails and is a glorified loading screen
>Game is still getting essential content a year after its release
It's totally right, but I had fun playing it tbqh.
The story presentation was the biggest mistake I think, I had so much hope for the story...
...
My favourite part about XV was the chemistry and banter between the main guys, but I don't think replaying would be all that enjoyable to me since I've already heard everything they say.
This guy here pretty much covered the biggest problems with the game.
>Contrived moments like Prompto being an MT having zero relevance to anything
>Game does NOTHING to properly foreshadow or hint at this
>Assassin's Creed DLC
>NOW they have Prompto hint at this in-game
It's a problem when a glorified AC commercial did what the game couldn't.
What the fuck did Nomura even do when he had the game? Tabata said that he was basically given a bunch of ideas and a few assets and had to basically make the game from scratch.
Not sure if it was Tabata bullshitting or not but still...
>What the fuck did Nomura even do when he had the game?
Keep these points in mind:
>SE took people from the Versus team to work on FFXIII which left them understaffed
>The original engine (which XIII and XIV also used) broke the game because it couldn't handle open world environments
>They had to make a new engine
>By the time they did that and had gameplay, XIV 1.0 happened and forced SE to make changes as a company
>As early as 2013, Nomura was removed from the project and they had Tabata replace him (although this wouldn't be public yet)
>Before Tabata and the Type-0 team came in, the Versus team was small
I could've stomached all the fetch quest "go here and kill 5 boars" hunt shit if the combat felt good. I felt like each attack was a prison I was locked in until they finished before I could take any defensive action. Even Dark Souls feels like it has faster recovery in the game and the entire genre thrives on slow deliberate actions. Enemies in FFXV range from a complete nonchallenge to incredibly frustrating to deal with. I remember losing a lot of motivation to play after encountering these fucking dumbass flying enemies that inflicted status ailments on me constantly. Magic feels fucking awful to use and stunlocked your allies (not that they did much anyway) completely ruining the paper thin illusion of the battles at least looking spectacular. I finally dropped the game when I got the blind Ignis escort mission because I just had no more tolerance for the game. When the game started constantly berating me for leaving behind the slowest fucker on the planet because the game itself put me in a situation that I had 0 patience with it anymore I just stopped playing.
>What the fuck did Nomura even do when he had the game?
Allegedly Nomura only had the game for a couple of years. I'm sure my dates are off but the game didn't enter full production until around 2010. If Tabata took over by the time the E3 2013 trailer aired then it's safe to assume that Versus XIII was never more than a rough idea and a glint in Nomura's zipper
Versus XIII and FFXV are not the same game. After vsXIII was cancelled FFXV was started from scratch on a new engine with new assets for modern platforms.
WHY WON'T THIS FUCKING XV MOBILE SHIT AD STOP PLAYING WHENEVER I WATCH A YOUTUBE VIDEO!
is it any good? I don't really play mobile shit aside from Pokeyman Go
It's a scam
I liked it, but I can't be assed to replay (parts) of the game with every god damn update they put out.
They should've finished the game.
This is what concerns me. I have had the game since january, but haven't really put much time into it since I don't want to miss any content they add to it. Is it really that hard to release a finished fucking game? I guess I should be thankful that at least the updates are free and not paid DLC they aren't, right?
DLC costs money. FFXV is essentially a greatest hits of everything currently wrong with the industry.
Setting too contemporary
Don't like the cast
Released unfinished
questionable visuals
Some are, some aren't. The party member solo segments are paid.
>even then it's still not complete with most events happening off screen in the linear part which is when the narrative is supposed to improve
This shit was so infuriating. Fucking faggots claiming that the worst part of chapter 13 was the shitty gameplay. No you fucks, the worst part was Ardyn narrating the entire plot that should have been in the rest of the game at you, then getting supplements to that with random pieces of paper on the god damn ground telling you key things as well.
Jesus fucking fuck. Fuck FFXV. Other final fantasy games may not have strong plot lines, but at least they were competently presented and felt complete. Fucking XIII felt reasonably complete even though it was red hot fucking shit.
God FFXV makes me so damn angry.
Played the demo when it came out
Didn't like the gameplay
unfinished game, shit story, shit gameplay, shit open world, shit characters, huge graphic downgrade, its utter garbage
They loved it, but now it was announced on PC so sonybros shitpost as hard as they can.
It's boring
>They loved it
After the 10 year shelving, they only had 3 years to scrape together all the ideas, and they had way too many chefs in the kitchen with old man hands at the helm.
Why cant they go back to being turn based
>3 games use traditional turn base
>1 game uses conditional turn base
>8 games use active time battle
>1 game is action based
>2 are MMOs
Why do people pretend that the series was ever predominantly turn based?
We want SFM, we would prefer that you get the game.
