COCONUT GUN
CAN FIRE IN BURSTS
Not quite.
rare was a one trick pony
No, this is.
>Go from making god-tier timeless masterpieces like battletoads and donkey kong country to making movie cash-ins like goldeneye, 3D "platformers" where the MC can barely even jump and 3rd person shooters where the MC can barely even aim
Kids won't understand.
>watermelon for health
>theme song is rap music
>guns for weapons
how did rare get away with it lads?
>one trick pony
>made at least 5 great games
>Battletoads
>Battlemaniacs
>DKC 1
>DKC 2
Looks like you're one short, champ.
>People now unironically think Banjo Tooie is a great game
rare is one of the greatest companies of all time, they literally saved the n64 and fuck nintendo for not buying them stupid cocksuckers
We just need the fried chicken mana bar
one trick pony isn't the same as one hit wonder
a one trick pony repeats its one trick repeatedly, which becomes more dull with each successive experiencing of it
a one hit wonder did something amazing one time but failed every following time
Battletoads
DKC2
Banjo Kazooie
Diddy Kong Racing
Perfect Dark
rare covered many genres, they weren't one-trick at all.
>DKC2
Reminder this is their best game.
If only Nintendo made a 3d Donkey kong game like this today. Or even remastered dk64. They could even get playtonic to make it haha.
*SPURTS
pretty sure it's bursts
The lyrics are on the intro, it says "SPURTS"
Also, spurts rhymes better with hurt than bursts
Wrong.
what the fug, this is some mandela effect bullshit
Did you faggots never play Conkers Bad Fur Day? It was basically the only fucking decent multiplayer game on the 64.
Blame the Stampers for being humongous kikes. Their greed killed the company.
Diddy Kong Racing is the best Rare game and the best kart racer
I didn't play it when it came out, people forget it released extremely late in the N64's life (I think even after the GCN released, let alone other platforms), so I missed out on it. It also became incredibly rare. I have emulated it, though, and the gameplay is a little on the clunky side and I unfortunately haven't been able to try out the multiplayer but I've heard it's good.
Played it, didn't find it that great.
Hourly Reminder
youtu.be
Literally would not have sold if it didn't say donkey kong on the box
your video is fucking terrible, it's like that one "playing on a Sup Forums server" that gets posted every now and then given a human form
Best Kart racer yes (those fucking aeroplanes mang)
But Conkers Bad Fur Day exists, and that's Rare's best effort. (Banjo Kazooie and Viva Pinata are also in the running)
>that new logo
Cry every time. Rare's logo intro on DKC2 is stuck in my head forever.
I like Dk64's multiplayer better. Too bad I have nobody to play it with now.
No it was mainly leaving their entire player-base by leaving Nintendo for Microsoft
Game was garbo until the xbox remake 2bh with you famm. Tried to play it again on rare replay and i was reminded by the awful controls, frame rate, and camera. Very impressive technologies it had at the time however, certainly a technical marvel
Also banjo tooie is their best game and needs to be played on a 360/xb1 to fully appreciate it
>rare was a one trick pony
Perfect Dark, Conker, and Donkey Kong 64. What is the "trick" that is shared between them?
No, you're just a fag
>Game was garbo until the xbox remake 2bh with you famm.
Live and Reloaded fucks up the game's entire tone. They even buggered the clockwork orange homage the entire game hinges on.
Can live with it if it means the frame rate is normal, i can see whats happening because its not held back by muddy n64 era textures, the controls are playable and on a good controller, and so on. The n64 completely limited all of rares games. Its a shame they lost their talent right after that era
>>Battletoads
I thought that until they made JFG.
That game is pretty much like their experimental shit from the NES days. it's great.
>dk64 was my favorite game as a kid
>come to Sup Forums
>everyone hates it
Why does Sup Forums have such terrible taste?
>their greatest game
>ruining them
lol
>Why does Sup Forums have such terrible taste?
Sup Forums is actually right this time, though. The game is a great example of how not to do a collect-a-thon game.
That game wasn't even bad though it had lots of distinct characters and a big world to mess around in
>Donkey Show 64
Shit video, accurate statement
all of their games are just rehashes of blast corps its bullshit
Neither of those make it a good game.
HOW TO FIX THIS SHITEY GAME
>Keep the 5 Kongs but make the first 5 levels specific to just one Kong each (maybe how they escape from being locked up)
>Now you can design the levels around each Kong's abilities instead of bullshitting the player with pointless backtracking
>Last 3 levels can be whatever but should be a test of using the Kongs' strengths together to surmount challenges instead of BS backtracking
>all items can be collected by all kongs
>100 bananas per stage, 10 goldens
>No coins of any variety, not for buying shit, not for completing retarded retro arcade games
>you learn the moves like in banjo kazooie
>Barrel moves can be used anywhere
>Swap between kongs anywhere any time using the D-pad left and right
>All bosses are interesting like Mad Jack and not "throw explosive barrels at shit"
>Structure the stages to minimize pointless backtracking, but to encourage exploration of hard to reach areas
>Get rid of all the fucking lightning effects in the boss fights, I get a fucking massive headache fighting the Gloomy Galleon boss
>cut back on the annoying glowing effects EVERYWHERE IN THE GAME while you're at it because it looks shit and gives me a goddamn migraine
>Fuck off with Troff&Scoff
>progress on the hub/overworld is based on getting the next Kong and using their abilities to progress to the next stage
Literally all they had to do was the exact opposite of what they did.
Chunky and Tiny should have never existed.
>Chunky
Get out
Whoops sorry I made a mistake.
Massive Kong never should have existed.
I actually think Grant did a good job with the music considering the shoes he had to fill
Too bad he's AAA trash now.
DK64 is definitely some of Grant's best work.
Not even close.
Was OP talking about Rare, or 3D platformers in general?
All of the above.
All the fapbait this spawned, though
