Theta Emerald Ex has a shitload of features, like 721 pokemon and fairy type and lots of quality of life enhancements like infinite tms, running indoors, deletable hms. I'm not sure how stable it is though.

Seriously some of the best Pokémon games I’ve played, the increased difficulty and rebalancing of the Pokémon make it interesting as fuck.

Sinnoh is "that part: the region", even the supposedly comfy snowy area manages to be annoying with rock climb shit.

As much as it was cool to see and battle some of the older characters, battling in straightforward tourneys in succession inevitably becomes dull after a while. This seems to be the norm nowadays with Pokemon postgames though like in Battle Maison and the Battle Tree (not sure about this one, no plans to play SM).

No, you're right. The only thing that the Battle Tree does differently from the rest of the franchise's facilities is that it straights out starts in full force. Es. other facilities have weaker or unevolved Pokemon for the first symbol/trophy, the Tree just says "fuck that". The super version is even worse because they use more Z-moves than the base one and start using megas.

I'm replaying all the Pokemon games, since I lost most of all pokemon by losing a cartridge. I just beat my first game in this series of replays, Fire Red.
I was thinking of doing Platinum next, but If I'm not focusing on Post Games, is Emerald worth playing first, or is ORAS better?

This is the correct answer, but Emerald needs a physical/special patch to be fully enjoyable.

i liked crystal more to be honest, the two region thing was cool as fuck, there was more content after the elite 4, the extra animations and the day and night cycle make it more enjoyable for me

I'm still a Gen II fag but but I freaking love Gen III's pokemon, especially the legendaries.

Call me crazy but I found this mechanic pretty endearing. Don't get me wrong, it restricts variety in movesets of most Pokemon by a huge margin and makes certain Pokemon completely useless (Sharpedo & Crawdaunt), but this design flaw gave the game character.

I liked how when I revisited the game a decade after I first played it as a kid I had to relearn which types were physical and which ones were special and learn how to assign moves to Pokemon like say Sneasel since Ice and Dark moves are pretty useless on it.

It's pretty easy to remember which is special and which is physical since it's just all the Eeveelutions plus Dragon.

I'd argue it was still an excellent addition. I personally feel it's in poor taste to complain so much about some of the more questionable Pokemon designs like the Garbador and the Vanilluxe lines when previous and subsequent generations also had iffy looking Pokemon too. You can't really expect all of them to be winners. We had Pokemon like Volcarona, Chandelure and Golurk from this gen after all. I'll concede that the linear layout of the Unova region wasn't the best idea, but there were some real memorable locations in that place (see N's castle, Chargestone Cave and the White Forest/Black City).
