Japan didn't ruin elves, it simply shifted attention from males to females. In Western fantasy male elves kick ass and are generally awesome chads or headstrong assholes who don't kneel even before gods, they are the center of attention. On other hand I can't care less about female elves in Western fantasy, they are lithe, beautiful and maybe cast magic sometimes, Western elf girls are boring and unattractive. Japan shifted the attention in the opposite direction via visual medium, elf girls are the center of attention. pretty and sexy, while elf males are somewhere in the background at best and never relevant to the story.

I didn't even know there was a manga, but the light novel is such a fucking slog. the slow pace that it takes when the protagonist is immediately made overpowered to the level of being able to solo entire cities is annoying. I read up to volume 4 and the MC STILL hadn't attempted anything hard or interesting yet. like you know your MC is fucked up when his main struggle in life is just hiding his power level.
