"it's not hard haha it's just a patterns thing"

He's not wrong, it's just not fun.
There was an autist some time ago, who argued the game was shit because the fights DIDN'T follow a rigid pattern.
he is wrong.
after you lose 100 times and know the patterns by heart, you can win, and then what, its not hard?
bs. its not hard once youre so good at it that its not a challenge anymore, which it is, thats why its fun to finally progress, because it was tough but you did it, once. do it a few more times, maybe then its "easy", but if you do something and often fail, you can't say its easy...
also, whats more difficult than patterns...?
the highest skill cap in games is based on patterns and information, which you could argue are the same thing.
(inb4 someone says "lel xD one of these games is ez) look at quake, counter-strike, top tier wow raiding, difficult arpgs on permadeath, its all based on info and patterns, thats the difficulty.
even life is like that, patterns and information.
so... "its not hard haha i lost 5 times then won once, just patterns" is self contradictory.
Test
Wow, that beta background is terrible, it looks like a crayon drawing. I'm glad they replaced it.
There used to be a build with 2x goopy le grande during the fight but I doubt he used to become big
Is this game harder than furi?
thank
i don't know i finished it 4 times 100% so i dont think its hard at all
furi is definitely harder. hell some parts of shovel knight on ng+ are harder like the boss gauntlet and the battletoads fight.
furi is only harder in the sense that the boss fights are 10 times longer and it really increases the feeling of the game shitting on your soul when you die after spending 17 minutes on one fight and only got halfway through it
I beat this boss first time. He's kinda easy user.
>cuphead
>hard
Like, come on. Did you ever played any platformers, run'n'guns or beatemups from the past?
Memorizing patterns doesn't involve any sort of skill or creativity. This is why boss battles in games tend to suck.
the only thing that makes cuphead hard is how crowded everything is.
what a pile of shit
name 5 hard games that aren't about memorizing patterns.
The only boss I had a lot of trouble with was King Dice, but it's because he has retarded anti-fun mechanics. The achievement for beating him is quite rare as well, only 8% of the players have it.
you mean .7%?
oh you mean on normal
thats the one for beating him without taking damage
Speed runners have already beaten the game at 37 minutes.
yeah its approximately 1-2m per fight top and there's 28 bosses including the rush
and?
Yeah, he's the only boss who violates the rule of being able to restart quickly that helps avoid frustration during harder games.
oh lawd
op here, got I got it on my first try (and casino run lmao)
faggots will hate
streamable.com
>only 8%
>meanwhile only 10% of players have played the game longer than one hour like most games on Steam
It's harder than Super Mario World at least which is the only game most people played.
How'd you know to jump on those specific cards from the get go
you already knew what to do you stupid goof. Congrats on seeing other people play opr reading a guide first.
nope purely luck I heard about "being good at parry" the rest was luck.
You can memorize the boss patterns all you like but if you don't have the skill to pull off the maneuvers to avoid the boss' attacks, you won't be beating it.
>look up cuphead rage compilation on youtube
>almost all of it consists of stuff from the first island
why
this is why only 20% completed the 2nd world
a bunch of casual faggots buys it due to the style then never plays it again
>How'd you know to jump on those specific cards from the get go
Because they are pink like every other parryable thing in the game?
Maybe they got used to dying and stopped raging when it happened?
Cuphead is not a hard game. Anybody who claims it is just doesn't have enough experience playing sidescroller games.
I don't understand why newbies to shooter games aren't saying PUBG is a bad game. PUBG assumes you've played shooting games before.
This game is definitely hard on expert.
hard is fun, faster patterns and attacks it's the real challenge. I rushed solo just to get it
fire emblem?
I feel like the OP is quoting someone, probably some shortbus menace from youtube, and I am supposed to know who it is.
cuphead is easier than super meat boy
this. my cuphead death count even after getting every cheevo was only about a third of my super meat boy death count and i can't even beat the final boss.
super meat boy and the end is nigh are good games
But I'm a casual faggot who played literally three other video games (undertale, hyper light drifter, night in the woods) over the last five years or so while only getting this one due to the art style and raging over anything on first island is unfathomable to me.
i like cuphead more than super meat boy. i haven't played end is nigh but it doesn't look that impressive.
nice, i did 3 playthrough of cuphead and got to finish a hat in time this weekend
end is nigh is great but its more linear and open world instead of being stages based. each world have their own platforming challenges/gimmick such as water, jumping on enemies or w/e.
Took me 3 times to beat. Just get good faggot or go back to Your waifu bait shit games
>GRADE: D
HAHAHAHAHAHA
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG
How come I beat bosses that other people struggled against in only a couple tries? How come people say they beat the bosses I had trouble with after only a few times?
It's almost like... there is more to it then just memorization or something
They are fucking pink you dimwit. If you hang back, which is the natural thing to do in that situation, it's incredibly obvious what the game wants you to do there.
Cuphead in general always does a really good job at setting your expectations straight, there are only very few "insta-gibs" of any kind that you have to experience once to know how to deal with. If you have any kind of experience with these types of games it is always either pretty fucking obvious what is about to happen or the game gives you enough leniency to deal with it on the fly.
I'm getting pretty tired of people claiming there is too much trial and error bullshit in the game to be honest, they did a really good job at avoiding that type of gameplay.
I always think the argument over difficulty is stupid, because difficulty is mostly subjective. Like yes, if you're very good at games like Cuphead, then of course it's not going to be hard.
Calling a game "hard" is more about how a majority of people react to it and the other games in the genre. Saying Cuphead is hard makes sense because a) most people have a hard time with it and b) there are not a lot of hard side-scrolling shooters any more to compare it to
Once you have seen the patterns, the game is realy easy. It's trial and error, the game. Glad I only pirated it. Normalfags need to stop hyping everything up to be "Le Dork Seals Of Vidjea Geaems xD"
>can't read boss attacks and dodge them by reflex
Sounds like dark souls bosses. Just memorize the patterns and dodge....
I don't relay think dark souls is challenging either. A lot of the death in that game are because of wh00ps moments. Like you see an enemy go behind a door to the left, and you get blindsided by an enemy to the right. And no place before was there an enemy type who would try to ambush you. But hey, let's proclaim that the dark souls series is difficult because death happens
king dice was pisseasy
id put it at a similar level to games like megaman not necisarrily hard but for people that have only played the more causualised easy mode games of the 7th and 8th gen then they will find it hard
>if ur gud den gaem is nut hard
No shit, doesn't mean a game's difficulty can't be quantified
user you can parry anything pink
27 now actually.
Does someone have the Domino Piece kicking himself in the Face
...
If you have high IQ you can find out the patterns quickly. Your abstract reasoning must be high though.
Patterns isn't difficult though, it's just memorizing.
This boss was pissing me off so much until I realized you can duck under all of his actual attacks.
it's piss easy after all.
People flip out when any game is even mildly challenging nowadays
Look at Dark Souls, a game that's honestly not that difficult became the fucking meme mascot of difficult games because everyone was so used to hand-holdy interactive movies
And Cuphead is also a much better game.
Is Cuphead the Dark Souls of platformers?
you just don't get it
game has patterns: you have to play it over and over to get better and beat it
game doesn't have patterns, relies on skill: you have to play it until you get better and beat it
if you can't tell the difference... i don't know how to help you
No
Man, that serious is a rollercoaster.
Goes from being the posterchild of difficulty to Dark Souls 3 being legitimately easy.
>game doesn't have patterns, relies on skill: you have to play it until you get better and beat it
examples?
memorizing patterns IS skill
learn english motherfucker
Do I have to record myself beating fucking goopy on expert for you?
Why can't fucking autists admit that the game is hard? Everything blends because of the artstyle and there is no range indicators because it would compromise the artstyle too so you have to memorize the range of each attack so there is much more trial and error than in most platformers. Why do you guys can't admit that and have be to so fucking elitist over a fucking game?
this pretty much, look at any top meta of a game, it's called meta because everyone at the top does the exact same shit while also knowing how to properly counter said meta.
after that it's all down to relexes.
Does anyone actually legit think this game is hard? Each boss took me 2 or 3 tries at best. Last boss is a bliss too.
THE FUCKING JELLYBEAN
it's challenging but fair until you play coop with someone bad. then it's fucking hell
that streamer was a fucking drama queen
Yes
I personally had more trouble with Furi
It means you fucking suck at games
S ranks are harder to get in Cuphead. Besides that Furi is harder in every other regard.
I feel like most people think it's outrageously hard because they never buy upgrades from the store.
The games easy to me solo. Maybe it'll take a couple of tries but still.
I think it's much harder playing with a friend.
>admit the game is hard
Because it's not. This game is an absolute cakewalk compared to most NES/SNES/old school platformers. The issue is people like you obviously haven't played enough games like that.
Besides, if people keep bitching about difficulty, why don't they just play on Simple mode?
No it isn't. Memorization is a method of learning, something you do to acquire a skill which you can then apply. Why does Sup Forums struggle with the concepts of skill, talent and learning so much?
Because it isn't hard. Kirby games are about the same level of memorization and trial and error, in fact Cuphead is actually easier.
Not fair comparing it to NES games though. What games in today age are that level of hard? None
Co-op is way harder imo
>This game is an absolute cakewalk compared to most NES/SNES/old school platformers
Because older NES/SNES titles were mechanically limited. The first run'n'gun game to achieve a more fluid movement was Metal Slug.
I want to know where this idea came from and who proposed it. Anything involving skill consists of a regiment of improving on a pattern. Only once you enter into the paradigm skilled competency does things like improvisation, creativity, or tactics come into play to further distinguish skill.
Want to be a skilled athlete? Repetition and mastering patterns.
Want to be a skilled gymnast? Repetition and mastering patterns.
Want to be a skilled musician? Repetition and mastering patterns.
It's almost like the adage of "practice makes perfect" holds some meaning.
Everything is patterns, this is literally how the brain learns, by memorizing patterns. This thread is dumb.
see
Who are you parroting? Metal Slug had a shorter jump and less air control than Contra, on top of limiting your shooting to 4 directions instead of 8.
but is, git gut
Retarded:
>It's not skill, it's memorization.
>Memorization is the cultivation of skill which you then apply.
It's almost like of something requires memorization is the tempering of skill.
>get bad RNG
>reset until RNG is no longer bad
Wow, what a nice game!
