Why did it fail?

Because it was bad and was designed by a retard.

They didn't call it the BOOYAH!

Also women

Led by a woman

women ruin everything

False advertising

Same reason you did, it was poorly conceived.

1. Bad controller feel/quality
2. Not enough power for top tier Android titles even at the time of release

I could literally make a better console myself.

It would be a horrible Frankenstein looking shit but I guarantee it will run better then the Ouya.

They tried to sell it as an 'indie machine' but no one buys a console for indie games.

Pointless

Have you used one? The reason why it failed becomes evident the moment you lay hands on the controller. It was a cheaply made, barely functioning piece of shit which struggled with some really basic games and offered nothing over a cellphone with a decent controller.
And it was so poorly designed it had the vent on the bottom, and it managed to overheat. It got so bad you had to rest it on the side for it to pick up a wi-fi signal, the only means it had of actually getting games.
It was an engineering wet fart with no games and the cheapest feeling controller ever made.

Oh, yeah, that existed. What was was the purpose of this thing again? How was it supposed to stay afloat?

FOR GAMERS BY GAMERS

Remember when people who backed it thought they would play all the AAA titles on it, like Skyrim?

At least it's better than the Vita.

Nobody made any games for it.

>television gaming

Post yfw you didn't fall for her sweet sweet lies

I still like the idea of the Ouya. Shame it wasn't well done in the end.

Because indie games don't count as real games. Nobody buys a console for them.

It was a retarded idea in concept. Who wants to play mobile games on your TV? You play mobile games because you can play them anywhere.

It came out too early. The Tegra 3 was too weak.

the better question is how could it possibly have succeeded

Obligatory video

youtube.com/watch?v=QY5yG2KyQfM

>hipsters who hate all modern consoles back it
>delude themselves into thinking they will somehow play all the major titles on
>console is a weak piece of shit
>no serious devs have any motivation to ever release games for it

Dammit I was gonna link this. This video should be in a museum or something.

Haha I remember that

>idiots trying to act like all the big game companies try to keep the ouya small because they fear it's potential

Hey, it got major third party titles like Sonic 4.

>They were so desperate to get into the big E3 party they set up a stand outside

Is there anything more embarrassing?

>Those negative levels of enthusiasm
But seriously, who the fuck even backed this shit?! Is playing android games on TV literally the only thing it was for? Who even thought that's a good idea?! You can literally get better games for cheaper that would run on an absolutely toaster PC.I fucking refuse to believe this seemed like a good idea to someone

Backing the kickstarter.

I still don't know how the creators were able to fool so many people into thinking that all the AAA games were going to come to this thing. It's stated very clear that it's using the same hardware as a cellphone and it's so tiny that you know it's just a phone wrapped in a box but retards just kept dumping money thinking that they were going to playing Skyrim for free and sticking it to those other mean old console makers.

>Is playing android games on TV literally the only thing it was for?
It's not even good at that.

It's awesome for what it was a Android set top TV box...it worked great for kodi,Netflix, pandora,Spotify, emulators like nes,snes,N64 ,ps1 some Dreamcast ,3ds ,Sega CD,and a bunch more..it has a few good indie titles ..but your average person was to stupid to realize it's potential

...

Any it played gta San Andreas

>Skyrim: PS1 edition

mods will fix it :3

>You see that pixel? You can climb it

they believe in things like "indies are an unstoppable force" and "normies would love an accesible console to play". It seems they didnt realise that they can just use a phone for that.

Well all right, actually come to think of it, I have a probably 10 years old TV without any internet, build in apps, players and all this shit. I generally don't need a new one since I hardly use it, but when I do it would be nice to have those without having to drag my laptop next to it and plugging it. So I guess this thing wouldn't be a bad option for that at least.

Ouya owner here, are they still releasing games for this?

Fan should have been bigger, couldn't crank the graphics up enough.

have they even began to?

There's like lieratlly 1000 games on the out store but there's lots of shitty games you have to sift through to find a fun one

because it was a useless piece of shit

As an Ouya owner, shouldn't you be the one to tell us if there are new games?

>tfw got one for like 20 bucks, rigged up two ps3 controllers to it, use it as a cheap emulator box for couch vidya
Android's sound delay shit really blisters my testicles but it's not a bad setup for as cheap as I got it.

It didn't fail, it's an awesome emulation box if you attach a 360 controller.

It was an answer to a problem very few people had.

>King's Field.jpg

Couldn't convince women to sit down in front of their TV to play Candy Crush

>android games
hmm gee OP i wonder why

i love these idk why

The niche they were aiming for was unbelievably slim to begin with, the promised indie haven never materialized because the storefront sucked ass and failed to attract developers apart from some token efforts, the lack of worthwhile games completely drove off the non-backer portion of the target demographic and the hardware wasn't even remotely good enough to redeem it either (yes, a Tegra 3 for $100 was actually extremely good for an Android box during announcement, but not during the delayed release and the rest of the hardware sucked ass to compensate even more).
