This playthrough is blessed, I feel it.
Drain Essence or Bone Harvest?
how you find the pet build. To me it feels that the skeletons are otherwise alright, but they seem to do very low damage. Great for distracting the enemy though and they are aggressive as fuck.
Pretty good expansion. Anyone else think GD actually has pretty interesting lore/story? My biggest disappointment is that it did nothing to clarify or close any of the existing plot points.
Guess I'm retarded for expecting that out of an APRG though.
Not that guy, but imo they are absolute beasts.
Maxing them out at 16, they were hitting for 400+ dmg and mages for 600+, with no minion dmg. And getting 1k minion dmg shouldnt be an issue at lvl 75 even, that would make them do 4k dmg per hit, with really decent aspd, without taking into account crits, or vit dmg increase. And you should be able to have 9 or more. So i would say breddy good.
Do you cast shit or hit shit with your weapon?
I love it and i love the lore in it, but i haven't gotten to the new areas, since i rolled a new char. Sucks i guess if nothing more is revealed as to how all this shit happened.
cast
Thanks. I'll keep playing mine a bit more in that case. Currently at level 9.
Still can't decide what class combo to go with.
I went with occultist, but honestly occ, and shaman both work, with arcanist and demo being worth a mention, really depends where you want to take it.
Probably drain essence then, but I honestly don't use it for anything other than proccing Shepherd's Call at the moment. Maybe it'll get better with more vitality/vitality decay damage.
Skellingtons were pretty strong but I pumped them to 16 almost immediately. They'll probably fall off at some point but by then I should have the fatty corpse and hellhound up to speed. The only issue I have with this so far is that if a piece of gear doesn't have Bonus to Pets then it's garbage. Makes the loot progression seem like a slow crawl.
skills only deal damage if you level them
nothing is going to be a crowd-clearing/boss-killing one-point wonder
pump those skellies to max
you don't need the more skellies skill, get 1 point in it for the extra summon then move on to the next skeleton node
don't neglect mastery bar
does the life steal on siphon soulsl apply to everything you do while its active or is it only for the damage from the spell itself?
Generally things like that only apply to the skill itself.
>I've ran out of Iron with the Illusionist
It's only on that skill.
Are you playing on veteran? Gear progression is fairly slow, but I am finding a fair amount of equipment with pet bonuses just by killing bosses/champions/heroes.
>Running around with skelebros and throwing out bone waves as Necro/shaman
Shits so cash
Do you need to start a new game for the expansion?
No, just need to have completed act IV on the character you want to play.
Iron is useless after you buy all your inventory tabs though?
What's the best secondary class for necro? I am tied between conjurer and shaman.
>Start a fresh character
>Go in deep on Necro
>1pt in Bone Eruption is an instant gib for just about everything early game
This must be a faceroll class for beginner players or something, it's goddamn easy mode with maxed Skeles
>What's the best secondary class for necro?
that depends on what yu wanna do?
Necro doesnt need to exclusively be a skelly factory
Give me the TL;DR pasta you give all faggots who ask this same fucking questions, if you have one.
Is this game good if I spent a decade playing D2 and like PoE while hating D3? It sure looks an awful lot like D3.
Honestly I don't think anyone in their right mind should hate Diablo 3 if they can knab it on a severe discount.
I begrudgingly enjoyed it, until I forget that my mother was using my old Blizzard account and her dumbass was using simple passwords and got my Diablo 3 CD-Key locked.
I am not under age, it's how I keep in touch with my mother working abroad.
I can't play PoE for long, but goddamn if I can't dump hours into this and Diablo 2 still.
I'd say thats it's greatest weakness for me, just the grim dark end of world setting has been done to death.
Otherwise GM is focused on singleplayer so you actually get fucking decent drops and aren't expected to buy them off the auction house. Add in dual talent trees and there's a hell of a lot of variety. Probably one of the best ARPGs out there honestly.
That's not really a TLDR;
It's good user, it's quite enjoyable regardless of our shared dislike of Diablo 3.
D3 isn't unplayable. I did play it for a few weeks at a time at the start of the first three RoS seasons. Was alright fun with friends but it gets really old really fast, and now I don't even bother anymore. I won't go on a rant as to why exactly I don't like it though, as it's just off-topic here. Overall I do dislike it a lot though, especially in the light of what D2 was and what D3 COULD have been.
Is this game any good? If it's anything like PoE then I'm not interested.
Is it time for a summoner build?
so this game is on sale now, should i get it?
Same genre, so I'd avoid it if I were you.
It's a really solid ARPG but if you didn't like PoE for more than game specific reasons than don't bother, it's probably not going to convert you.
The skill tree system seems to have some pretty heavy Titan Quest elements to the point where I'm getting the feeling it's just a patchwork of most famous ARPGs. But, hey, I'm pretty bored right now.
How actually is the multiplayer?
I guess I'll give it a shot. I'm bored to hell with the current league in PoE and I keep shitposting and watching shitty animus all evening, unable to bring myself to play anything on my backlog.
Too bad about the grimdark aesthetics because I can't get my right hand to play it with me because she wants an animu grindan game.
The multiplayer is an afterthought. Its playable but somewhat buggy. Its good with a bro or group of friends. But the game was made with single player in mind. Most people just use multiplayer to trade shit n such.
>The skill tree system seems to have some pretty heavy Titan Quest elements to the point where I'm getting the feeling it's just a patchwork of most famous ARPGs
It's literally made by guys from the studio that made titan quest.
Opinions on triple blight summon?
I don't want to alarm anybody but electrocute is unironically good
Also illusions having level requirements is some serious bs, but I'll admit I prefer it to no illusions at all
Is the CD lower than the duration or matches it? I think I'd rather have a single tanky pet than 3 explodey ones used for burst only.
>Not putting twin fangs on your skeletons
Do you even early game bro?
Huh, interesting. I expected it to be long dead.
I really fucking wish we could've had a similar comfy as fuck setting instead of this though.
Occultist is the best to match with necro, yes? Curse of frailty for debuff, that buff that increases OA, and another summon too.
Is this game half as good as Titan Quest?
>new classes out
>still playing with my lvl 81 commando
I dont know, necro looks boring, but inquisitor might be fun.
Yeah, I'm mostly interesting in soloing or cooping anyway, so it's all good.
I find it much better than Titan Quest.
Most of the shitty damage types in vanilla got a lot of love. IT, electrocute, vit decay are all unironically good now. Chaos is still kinda so-so but it's still better than it was.
Reminder to get the Crucible DLC aswell.
>make new character
>grind through crucible
>get them tribute points and items
>exchange tribute for devotion points
>start main quest with at least two complete constellations
Aw yeah.
How similar is it to Diablo 2? I love ARPG but PoE just didn't click with me.
I don't like the setting as much but gameplay wise it's a straight improvement
Caves have a short load now though, they don't open into the world like in TQ so they can have funkier caves I guess
Whats the build user? I want to try out some Lightning caster.
I went with that combo, hope it pays off in the end but I feel like it will be kinda boring just spamming curse.
I just wanna point out that characters that have washed out makeup, are aware of it and do nothing to fix it look stupid as fuck.
>PoE just didn't click with me
Why? Not trying to get into an argument, just curious.
I felt the same way after playing it for almost a year from OB to release. It was good but I just couldn't get into it the same way I spent years playing D2. Never was quite able to put a finger on why exactly I felt that way.
PvP was a huge thing for me in D2 though, but no ARPG since then has had interesting PvP.
delete this
When a skill like Fire Strike says "When used as your default weapon attack", does that mean I have to map it to left click?
Or can I put it anywhere on the skillbar and get the same bonuses?
Hey I'm not saying she's a bad character or anything. Just that once you stop and think about it it makes no sense.
What options do you have for a poison caster in this expansion? I know Ravenous Earth is going to be the star, but is there anything other than Dreegs you can use? Would it be better to go Poison/Vitality caster and use the Life Drain skill in the tree?
Levelled stun jacks/full spread first, but wind devil became mvp once i started levelling it
Also, even though I aven't gotten to the point where I can even equip them I think the hat and axe are gonna be non-negotiable, they just give so much DPS
if by stupid you mean sexy and lewd, I agree
any torrent yet?
Titan Quest is half as good as this game. But that's not saying much, TQ was garbage.
>"When used as your default weapon attack fire strike does additional damage"
that's what it says
you can bind it anywhere but it will do more damage on the left click
it makes most sense to bind it on left click because it's an auto attack replacement without cooldown that goes as your attack speed will let it
I figured Inquisitor would be the sub for Word of Renewal/Deadly Aim and and using Storm Box for your filler.
as fast
I'm playing an arcanist/necro pet build and planning on maxing out iee and skeles but im not sure if i want to go full pet or hybrid and max out bone harvest. And if i go with bone harvest is it best to take the modifier for 2h with 100% cold conversion or should i be satisfied with the ele conversion from iee. And if i go 2h melee should i focus on defensive devotions since i dont have the soldier passives for tankiness.
I'm loving the expansion
I'm glad the expansion isn't set in the chaos realm or whatever but I do feel bad we don't get to rescue Ulgrim
He was a good friend
I think Dreeg's is probably still king, its damage per second is higher than pretty much any other dot ability
You could possibly do a meme Bone Harvest necromancer with Mythical Plaguebearer of Dreeg and Deathguard set which will give it something like 3000 base poison dps
That sounds like it would work as well, but I wanted to take advantage of that helm giving +3 to Full Spread and +210 electrocute damage to Stun Jacks. I dunno which would be better in the end
If I'm playing a caster do I just find a main hand with the best stats on it. I've only ever played autoattack builds.
Correcting myself here, 3000 base poison damage, with 600 dps. Nothing to get too excited about but it might work
New player here, going for a tanky solider+arcanist build, is this still viable?
Been running crucible for an early headstart on devotion, any other tips/recommendations?
>do quest for Outcast
>get +rep for Outcast
>get -rep for Black Legion
>tfw have to do unnecessary bounty quests to maintain good relations with Black Legion
you want a weapon that gives +% to whatever element your skills use
yeah look at the best numbers of course but as a wizard man you might want to consider picking the weapon that has "+1 to my spell" type of stuff also
So I was looking into pet builds and apparently the top dog before this xpac was some demo/occultist one that focused on flat fire damage to control damage types and get big ass numbers. Will necro/occultist just not compare or does it synergize enough to be good endgame?
Battlemage is stronger than it was in the vanilla game since it has actual endgame support now. Dunno how leveling it goes since I haven't really bothered, but if anything the class as a whole is better now.
I'm at Barrowholm. Feels like people are indulging in some pretty dark shit. I'm torn on choosing to destroy them all or go with them. What did you choose?
Is it just me or does the game run waaaaay better now? I swear there are certain areas where i used to dip just below 30 fps, and now I'm getting 50 or more. Everything seems more optimized.
>nothing to clarify or close any of the existing plot points
Dammit, I was hoping they would explore the feud between cthon and whoever the fuck korvaak is
WHO /NEMESIS/ HERE
>grind all faction reputations to revered/nemesis in elite
>run into nemesisses in ultimate
I have a lvl 71 battlemage, sword and shield
It's basically impossible to kill at this point which is nice, but felt really really weak on offense until I hit the third tier of cadence, deadly momentum, around lvl40-50. Put points into blitz as well, it's an awesome skill. I use callidors tempest, which is still great despite my focus on defense and not on boosting fire or aether damage
The patch they deployed before the expansion launched had a new renderer with DX11 support, so most people are seeing far better performance now I think. I know I definitely have a far better framerate on average as well.
I'll buy the game later today and have never played it.
As such, what kind of a battlemage can I make, apart from said soldier/arcanist? Anything that combines spells with sword+board and heavy armour is my favourite shit in any RPG. Plate skirts/robes on heavy armour is even better.
I chose to go with them. You don't need to completely commit and you can change your mind and attack them at a certain point if you want
>The patch they deployed before the expansion launched had a new renderer with DX11 support,
Aaaah ok, I missed that. At any rate, it was one of my only major complaints about the game, so that's great. I used to have fps drops at really high enemy and particle densities on crucible, so I want to see if I still have that issue.
fuck
>it makes most sense to bind it on left click
if you want carpal tunnel.
Did anyone try out the poison golem fucker alongside skellies? Kinda seems like a waste, I may just pump his main skill so that he has a decent amount of HP and put 1 in both his other passives for the added CC.
I thought inquisitor is like paladin, but it's version of demo??
Best off class for a Trapper inqis?
His other abilities seem lackluster outside of 1 pointers since they don't scale damage well.
Flames of Ignaffar would be great if I wasn't stood still getting killed.
CD based DoT skills work really well with soldier s&b setups. Not super gear dependent and can tank through a lot of content since soldier with a shield has crazy survivability. Pic related revolves around Blackwater Cocktail, a Demolitionist skill. Alternatively you could use Dreeg's Evil Eye from Occultist or even Storm Totem from Shaman.
>if you want carpal tunnel
Why though, you just have to hold LMB. You don't have to click it like a madman.
Pretty much anything goes, that's the beauty of this game. You can create any retarded ass combination of masteries and still do moderately well, just try to focus on one damage type (for example don't try doing half cold and half fire damage or something like that, shit won't work decently UNLESS you pump everything into elemental damage)
i'm an idiot and forgot a picture
Guess I'll just make something retarded then, although soldier/arcanist sounds like a very archetypical battlemage which just might be my jam here.
Does creamapi work with this?
soldier arcanist class combo is called battlemage so that's probably what you will get
Witchblade-soldier occultist build
Physical and chaos damage focus
Or the same combo can do physical/poison damage if you want,
Regardless of what says, you can try multiple damage types, but it's definitely best to pick ones that compliment each other asked on the skills that use them. Demo for example, has skills that boost and use both fire and lightning damage.
Also, there are definitely armor types that combine plate and robes, so have fun playing dress up. Look up the illusionist npc that was added in the expansion, I think you'll like what it does
>who is korvaak
Dammit I want this question to be answered!
>intensify reduces physical res not fire
