>game scores too high it was paid off
>game scores too low it's complete shit

So what's the magical name a game has to get to not be considered either of those?

85

Is there even any evidence for the paid off meme outside of the Kane and Lynch incident?

I can't tell what went wrong because you've cropped out the part where the review summaries are saying what's fucking wrong

>The Evil Within 2 doesn't quite manage to step out of the first game's shadow - but while it may not have the same bold, unified style, you won't have to worry about frustrating mechanics or enraging difficulty spikes. If you've got a soft spot for the original game in your survival horror-loving heart, you'll surely enjoy this sequel (and get a kick out of the many callbacks to the previous plotline). After my 16-hour-long journey alongside Sebastian, I find myself looking back fondly on The Evil Within 2, with its satisfying mix of tense scares, hard-hitting combat, and impressive hallucinatory set pieces. And above all, I'll never forget that time Sebastian unironically told a photograph "I'm going to stab the shit out of you."

The original game has a 75 Metacritic FYI, this one's reviewing better.

Also most of the big sites, like all of them, don't have their reviews up yet so the score will change.

Polygon has a Review in Progress but they're very positive: polygon.com/2017/10/12/16461738/the-evil-within-2-review
"I don’t know if The Evil Within 2 will be able to work this magic right up until the credits — which seem a lot further off than they did in the first game — but for now, I’m extremely impressed. The game just keeps tossing everything it has at me, and every time I think I’ve seen it all, it gives me some unique revelation, some dreadful apparition I’ve yet to encounter. That push and pull, between wanting to see what the game has in store next and being terrified to find out — that delightful feeling is why I play horror games, and so far this one is nailing it."

So does US Gamer: usgamer.net/articles/the-evil-within-2-review
"I haven't finished the game, but it feels like it's right around the corner. From what I've played so far though, The Evil Within 2 is everything I wanted from the first game. Every major complaint I had about the first game is at least addressed in some manner, though the tweaks aren't always perfect. It's a unique psychological horror title with Resident Evil 4's action combat. Tentatively, for those folks who weren't a fan of Capcom's reboot with Resident Evil 7, The Evil Within offers something that you might like, while blazing its own trail."

And then IGN, GameSpot, Eurogamer, PC Gamer, and so many other sites don't even have a review up yet. It's way too early to jump any guns.

The first game was also shit so no surprise

Just look at any Nintendo game. Most recently BotW.

pleb filter works i guess

Wait. It's out?

It is a sequel to a bad game.

Never understood why that shitty game got a sequel.

I think that's more a case of reviewers being rushed to get reviews out and diminishing returns.

Your first 10 hours with most games can leave a big impression on you, and it's where devs try to put their best foot forward. When you only have six hours to play a game and write a review about it, especially if the game is hyped to shit or just came out and you're trying to strike while the iron is hot, it's hard to really get to the point where the game stops impressing you and you start to notice the flaws.

Protip: the best reviews for games come out a month or two after the game's release.

"Any Nintendo game". Kind of fucked it with that one.
Honestly, I think doing all the story content in BoTW in 50 hours would also leave you with incredibly strong impressions. There would still be a lot of places you haven't seen.

...

They cna't make it obvious by giving EVERY game a perfect score. it would be too obvious. Nintendo tells them to give a few games they don't care about bad scores just to keep up the charade.

But why am I bothering? You're either a fanboy, shill, or shitposter, and you're probably just going to screech, smash your keyboard, and scream at me until you pass out or something and not actually address any of my points.

>you won't have to worry about frustrating mechanics or enraging difficulty spikes.

I sure as shit hope they aren't calling the matches frustrating.

Nice bait.

...

You have not made any points though
