>mfw i dont play these kinds of games in the first place
shiteaters can suffer in silence
The problem is that other companies will start implementing this shit if it picks up
Don't be surprised if your beloved Nintendo starts doing the same shit
I already don't buy these sorts of games to begin with, not a whole lot else I can do. I'd love to say "this wouldn't be a problem if everyone had my tastes" but that's hardly realistic now, isn't it? It's not the people who aren't playing these games that are the problem, it's the people who are playing them. Posting this stuff on this board is, by and large, preaching to the choir.
No they wont
Stop trying to tell people what they should or should not do.
It wont work anyway.
but why does it matter if it's both only cosmetics and can be earned with gameplay
But I like lootboxes
I bought two keys back when Mann-Conomy launched 7 years ago. I haven't indulged in microtransactions ever since. What do you expect me to do?
They already did though.
>If you wont buy em
Yea, well I never did and yet they are multiplying, I can't stop them nor can't you.
>Nintendo will never do mobile games >Nintendo will never do DLC and Season passes
>Nintendo will never do paid online
>Nintendo will never do microtransactions or lock content behind a paywall(amiibo)
Most of Sup Forums doesn't even buy games, let alone pay for shitty lootboxes.
i dont buy games
If there weren't cancerous YouTubers that spend their life savings on 500 loot boxes so that they can make a video """unboxing""" them maybe it wouldn't influence AAA companies to keep making them.
Even if some people don't buy that type of shit there'll always be one of those view whores who pay up what other people didn't and maybe even more than that.
am i helping by the fact i do not buy them? hello i dont even play games that have them since i dont play multiplayer games
>Stop trying to tell people what they should or should not do.
I agree. However I see nothing wrong with people sharing their opinions on the matter. If some people change their minds willingly thats neat. Unfortunately actual discussion doesnt seem to happen anywhere nowadays.
Need more media outrage.
>life savings
it's usually donations from retards that watch them
stop buying western games
>mfw not really against the kind of loot boxes in overwatch and enjoy the game enough even after a year to grind out boxes and wanna collect everything without spending a single dime on it even though it was already bad enough that I bought the game itself which is an indicator for triple A that people accept this and this perpetuate the increase of loot box microtransations in video games
I’m pretty terrible but at least I can be open about it I guess.
>pointed all this out while it was happening
>just got called a "slippery slope faggot"
Don't even bother. These idiots are beyond help.
>People are against capitalism
Fucking libtards should go live in China if they're so upset that businesses are trying to make a profit.
Stop comparing it to gambling. In gambling there is a 99.9999999% chance you won't get a thing.
With loot boxes you get something everytime, even if it's random.
You don't go around calling Magic the Gathering packs gambling.
well maybe you shouldn't have bought Overwatch
>tfw buy loot boxes in every game where I can
>tfw there is nothing you can do about
I'd rather the practice not become commonplace since there's a greater chance that a dev tries to slip in some non-cosmetic content since everyone already expects loot boxes to begin with.
Aside from that, I think randomized cosmetics are the laziest fucking thing. Look at how Halo games have progressed - 3 had armor pieces tied to achievements, Reach and 4 had them locked to levels, and now 5 has every single armor locked behind REQ packages. In 3 or 4 you could focus your efforts to unlock the cosmetics you really wanted, and when you look at that other guy sporting that rare piece of armor or walking around with a katana strapped to his back, you know he EARNED that shit, instead of fishing it out of some loot box on his third or fourth try.
Loot boxes leave you with a roll of the dice standing in your way between your favorite cosmetic instead of a test of skill, and I don't agree with that.
I'll never get over the fact it is literally a big nosed hand rubbing goblin like creature.
Loot boxes are unlikely to make their way into single player indie games, which is 80% of what I play, the other 20% being retro games.
It is a gamble but its not gambling.
Depending on you expect on what you get from them.
>Never buy DLC
>Never buy lootboxes or other similar garbage
I'm saving the industry
How much you guys get paid?
>AAA games are getting even shittier
I'm okay with this.
>it'll never happen
I wonder how many times Sup Forums as a collective has said this over the past ~15 years or so and been proven completely wrong.
If the law decides that this counts as gambling and applies all the relevant restrictions on it I'll laugh forever. The tears from predatory companies like Valve and Blizzard would be beautiful.
>your
It's like I cared to begin with about any game company. Stay delusional user it's better you go back to those wojack threads and shitpost like a good boy.
ITT Manchildren mature enough to realize a money grabbing scheme aimed at children with their mom's credit card, not mature enough to grow out of gaming
Tragic
What the fuck is with the huge influx of these threads? Can you fuck off already? There's nothing wrong with loot boxes when the game offers you the ability to buy what you want anyways. Please fuck off and die. You people have unironically become soccer moms.
I don't buy them or play games that have them. What else do you expect me to do?
What else don't you think will happen in this culture of embracing corporate greed and denouncing any sort of consumer awareness?
what if the law decides that gambling isnt so bad thanks to this and removes all relevant restrictions across the board?
They will never stop.
Children, rich neets, and wealthy investment bankers will keep it going until the industry crashes and burns
>i don't buy lootboxes
Others still do.
>i don't play these games
Other games will catch up if lootboxes are successful.
>lootboxes are optional
Devs will design games around lootboxes where you are underpowered and have to grind a lot.
trip le AY games can fucking die for all that i care, the nastier the better, lootboxes seems to be fitting enough
Says the manchild spending his free time shitposting on a video game board on a racist anime website.
>0.2 deposited
as i ask everyone who says this
grow out of gaming into what? TV is garbage reading gets boring trying to do it all day and music is only good for when you are not sitting
HOW MANY OF THEM DO I NEED TO BUY TO STOP THEM?
Why not take it a step further?
>stop buying consoles
>only pirate games on PC
But thats the point of lootboxes: you can't buy what you want, you only get a chance to get what you want.
Not your personal army
Not enough
Uh, except that you can choose what you want in Overwatch. You can choose what you want in Counter strike. You can choose what you want in TF2.
When was the last time completely free market capitalism with zero regulation worked? Also regulation =/= communism
MTG prety much is gambling though in regards to packs, as much as I love it
>soccer moms
>caring about the actual quality of games
You do understand that garbage like lootboxes pollute every level of game design?
>hurrr it's optional, you just have to grind
Gaming is optional. We're talking about the quality thereof.
Amiibo are possibly even worse.
Dunno, play life I guess? That's how the 1% treat IRL anyways.
The daily grind is as mind numbing and monotonous as any RPG game. You just have to let go of the idea progress is only assured if numbers go up
He wasn't asking people to call your mother's phone sex line, newfag
>complete lack of understanding China
>if it's bad for everyone else then it's good for Sup Forums
Probably not even enough to buy lootboxes.
ya you are not convincing me
This is in your own interest, faglord.
Never bought lootboxes, tend to avoid games that enforce them. Didn't do shit. Poeple won't listen, the idiots who buy lootboxes will continue to buy them and the people who think cosmetic lootboxes are okay are still treading on the biggest slippery slope.
Lootboxes are gambling and should be treated as such.
If you don't give a single shit about cosmetics (like me), then cosmetic lootboxes just mean clueless whales are funding new maps/characters/actual content to be added to your game instead of you having to pay for them yourself. Prove me wrong.
You honestly convinced that staring at a screen and pouring in hours of effort just to see numbers go up is somehow more meaningful than acquiring currency (you know, actual numbers that do real things) and using said currency to get permanent upgrades to your life that actually matter?
>There are people so stupid they don't understand implementation directly affects the design of games and the more you accept them being around the more games will have them
Can't wait for Sup Forums defending future Nintendo lootboxes
It's almost like they're mocking us
reminder
>china
>not capitalist
Work without regulations in sweatshops that wouldn't pass any safety regulations in the first world?
Check.
Workers' rights completely non-existant with 16 hours workdays?
Check.
Complete lack of copyright leading to ideas being stolen left and right to produce copies of copies?
Check
Complete lack of morals and ethics in favor of making more money?
Check
Seems pretty capitalist to me.
Cosmetic lootboxes are okay in f2p games and multiplayer games where all other updates are free. That's it though
Battlefront and Shadow of War make actual gameplay a shit due to being developed with lootcrates in mind.
How are they worse if you can unlock all of them for every game with a single RFID tag for like $3?
see its when they aren't cosmetics, its when the game is made around pressuring you into buying them. and if more games go shadow of war, its going to be bad
>faggots are literally falling for corporate assholes injecting cancerous practices in gaming just by introducing them little by little
Money was a mistake
Yeah, I swear, video game consumers are the most retarded consumer group in the world. They have the memory of a goldfish. "Well, I don't care that this company made nothing but garbage and is known for anti-consumer business practices. THIS game looks fun, and that's all I care about."
>Sup Forums defending lootboxes
Fucking redditors
Shadow of War is a fucking single-player game with loot boxes and they still have a season pass. Prove to me that's not shit
I much rather have lootboxes that are comestic focused rather than paid dlc that splits up the community.
>Gambling in videogames shouldn't be allowed
At this point I'm really starting to believe that there is one dedicated shitposter who keeps making this point.
A $40 pass at that, shit is greedy as fuck man
i dont see why i should care i am comfortable where i am and how i am nothing bit ever happens and my life stays at about the same level of stress i dont see why i should push it? my day goes like this
>get up
>play games
>go to work
>sleep
>repeat
why make it anymore complicated? i mean im already 31 isnt it too late to do anything else?
No, they are fucking NOT okay
Why can't I choose a skin I want and buy it for 5 bucks? That's because it's way more profitable to put it in a shitbox and let stupid whales waste a ton of money to get that chance to get it, all the while FEEDING these cancerous practices that once they prove succesful in F2P games, they will start, and have started, to be implemented in full priced games. I will never stop saying that it's the mightiest slippery slope that people fail to see.
>I much rather have lootboxes that are comestic
Are you stupid the point is THEY WON'T BE JUST COSMETIC enjoy your battlefronts and shadow of war user, more are coming
>Sup Forums is defending lootboxes
what happened, does Sup Forums really hate games?
I think we should ban gambling and mictrotransactions in general. The change would only be for the better.
I don't know man, I have a cool figuring that doubles as a NFC chip thing.
Gambling with in-game currency is not harmful.
Good slippery slope argument, retard.
They removed the hand rubbing animation
They are aware
>game journos are now against lootboxes
>now Sup Forums is for it
Contrarianism need to fucking stop.
>Sup Forums unironically defending lootboxes
contrarian central
yeah because slippery slopes are a fallacy right comrade?
Who cares about a fucking skin, it's the gameplay that's important and if the loot boxes don't affect that in any way then it shouldn't fucking matter (meaning Battlefront 2 can suck a dick)
i think this thread is the most accurate use of GOOD GOY i've ever seen
>illegal workarounds are fine if they suit my argument!
We're talking about the practices themselves, and locking content already on disc/cart behind mcdonalds toys that go for $15-20 is pretty shitty.
By your reasoning you can also buy the skins and shit you want on g2a for a fraction of the price, but it doesn't mean it's not a shitty business practice.
Lootboxes are already regulated in a few countries anyway, and many more are investigating or trying to regulate them anyway.
In a years time the US is going to be the only country where they're not regulated.
And then there's paying real currency to get in-game currency to pay for lootboxes
i'm just a good gay
Slippery slopes are a fallacy if you're making illogical jumps with no support of a slope existing. Horse armor, season passes and the attempt at online passes kind of makes a case
