This has to be bait. What made Farcry so great outside of its outdoor visuals? Because the AI was horrid in that game, the gunplay was decent at best, and the voice acting was reallllly bad.

EQ2 as well.

Also, Sims 2 was a disappointment. It felt more like an EA game then a Maxis game at this point. Didn't have any of the charm or creativity Will Wright placed into Sims 1. On top of this, it felt like the game was demographically targeted toward women primarily teenage girls based on how metrosexual the males acted and prissy the soundtrack was.

HL2 I beat once and I'm probably never going to do it again.
HL2 was only a tech demo with muh graphics and muh physics and muh faces. It's inferior to SA and its own predecessor.

Both games come to mind for me. Got both for Christmas that year and its honestly hard to pick one for GOTY. If i had to pick one probably GTA SA just because i put so many more hours into it.

GTA San Andreas was considered game of the year back in 2004 in most magazines, but as time has gone onward more people consider HL2 to be 2004's GotY.

There were less PC gamers back then and HL2 has aged well in comparison to S.A so the opinions have shifted.

I really miss those days. Less console kiddie foreigners (modern PC mustard race crowd) that started to invade our lands in 2007-2012. Back when games were exclusively made for the PC or were downgraded to the consoles to work on them. Compared to the other way around where everything is made for the consoles and then ported over to the PC.
