Which is the better game?
There's an objectively correct answer here.
Which is the better game?
Galaxy was more impressive on its release but 2 is a better game.
I played galaxy 2 first, but prefer Galaxy 1. Galaxy 1 just felt more open, the atmosphere was a lot more space like and the hub world was interesting.
Galaxy 1 is more fun to remember playing for the first time, galaxy 2 is better in the end.
I'm sure 2 is better but i prefer 1, the worlds just felt more varied and fun, a lot of worlds in 2 just felt really boring
2
Galaxy 2. Stop asking.
who cares sunshine is better than both
sunshine is the worst 3d mario
>Galaxy 1
Superior atmosphere, better music overall, a better story and as far as story it's pretty charming for a Mario game. Game also had the novelty of being a new concept to the series at the time.
>Galaxy 2
Newer and more refined mechanics, superior platforming, Yoshi, and iirc overall more content than the first game, especially the way the additional green stars were handled.
Overall I love both of these games and to me they are a package deal, almost like one big game in two episodes because I could never say I prefer one over the other in its entirety.
Who likes running around on little rocks more than sunshine?
this
SMB3 > World > SMB > SMB2
PMTYD > PM > SPM > PMCS > PMSS
SMRPG > M&L > M&LBIS > M&LDT > M&PIT
64 > Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1 > Sunshine
3D World > 3D Land
All the NSB games are the same shit
*NSMB
Galaxy is better in all irrelevant aspects while Galaxy 2 is better in all objective aspects. Hell even the smaller spaceship with the more tight level selection was way better than running around in the bigger space ship from level to level in galaxy 1.
sunshine has a shitty broken camera that makes some levels completely unenjoyable
I preferred Galaxy 1. It fleshed out its ideas more clearly, and its main worlds were all fully developed and felt like complete levels.
With Galaxy 2's biggest worlds, you had, what, 2 main stars and a single Prankster Comet? Some of the worlds had four small planets in total. And some of the returning power-ups only show up for a single mission - why bother bringing them back at all?
I will grant that the Green Stars were better than the Luigi campaign, but Galaxy 2 had so many world concepts and mechanics that came and went too fast to make an impact on the player.
They're both great games, but I prefer Galaxy 1's fully-developed worlds to Galaxy 2's abundance of them.
The first reply to this thread is also the best possible reply.
Galxy 2 has better challenges and level design.
Like, Galaxy 1 throw some neat idea on the table and glueled them together with a masterful presentation. Galaxy 2 takes those ideas and pushes them to the extreme, creating challenging stages that are amazing to play, at the expense of the presentation.
So yeah, Galaxy 1 is prettier but Galaxy 2 is the real deal gameplay-wise. And luckily, 3D expanded upon that philosophy, creating much butthurt in the "muh sandbox" crowd.
I prefer Mario Bros. 2 to 1
agreed
agreed
I prefer Galaxy 1 to 2
The first one isn't
Galaxy 1, because of the music, atmosphere, and new experience of a 3D Mario game on Wii. I still hold the tutorial planet with the rabbit on it as one of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life. Everything was perfect.
However, Galaxy 2 is superior in gameplay and breadth of ideas. If it released before Galaxy 1, it would probably be the better game.
