This game is alot better if you don't fast travel all over the place. You miss so much shit in between.

seriously this one mod makes the game so much better, bigger trees mask how small all the areas are and makes it feel less like a theme park

I'd say Ultimate Combat, Ordinator and Attack Commitment is the best bandage to the shitty combat unless I'm missing a few mods

A global 10x damage multiplier for the player and all enemies + Bows make significantly more noise.
Everything but bosses now die in one hit, player included. The combat in Skyrim sucks, so ending combat as soon as it begins is an improvement.

This one is great too. I love how simple things like that completely change the feel of the game. You can only imagine what the game could be if the developers actually tried to make something unique with the setting instead of another generic tolkien garbage with elves and dragons.

Disable Fast Travel but use the mod that adds a carriage to every hold and lets them travel to minor holds (Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul).

Get Ordinator to make the perks far more interesting.

Use SkyUI and FastLoot, but beware that these both use a buggy release of SKSE for Special Edition so they're not really working that well at the moment, unless you're lucky.

As for combat I am generally unsure the way to go at the moment. Mortal Enemies is nice because it means the combat is less hit trading, since you can avoid hits, but you'll want another mod on top of that.

I'm not really up to date on that aspect, especially in regards to SE. Those mods change very quickly and I havn't been following them.

Apparently Duel is the way to go at the moment.
SE being worse is a temporary issue, hinging on peoplke porting mods and SKSE becoming stable.
Once those get sorted it will be a better bet since it's 64bit, so can run better with a bigger pile of mods installed.
