ps2 emulator

PS1. It removes all the pointless shit that people call "more content", such as this:
youtube.com/watch?v=e4uKd5rro4w
On top of giving it voice acting.

dreamcast but if youre playing it through an emulator. dont bother.

just play the ps1 version

> PS1 version is good
Fucking no, lol.
OP, if you're playing on PC just get the PC version. It's one of the better versions anyway.

PS1 makes more sense where you actually free enslaved creatures from cages, instead of fucking lums.

What is it with playstation fags actually reccomending worse versions of games when they're on their system?

I legitimately saw some faggot talking up the PS3 version of Bayonetta two days or so ago.

Last time I tried the PC version, it played way too fast, which made the game barely playable. Is there some special configuration to use?

Emulating Revolution is the best way to play Rayman 2, it's the best version of the game but it doesn't run all that well on the original hardware.

I'm not a graphics whore.

This

i only have played the N64 version, the controller was the worst part, the rest was fine

This.

I'd say Revolution or the 3ds version if portability is something you are looking for. It also has the best graphics of all of them

You're suggesting a version of the game with less content.

>or the 3ds version
Don't do this. I made that mistake and regret it.

Rayman 2 fan: don't get pc version.

PC version has terribly dated controls, get console version. PS1 probably best desu

The ps1 version has less content, you dunce

Sometimes less is more. "Mash X to win" bonus stages are about as fun as stepping on dogshit.

N64 version was great, up to you op

...

Why do people suddenly meme about playing the god awful ps1 version?

Ok but it also has shorter levels and less lums.

Stop recommending this version. I hope the OP is taking notes.

Alright, lets say I don't give a shit about bonus content and just want to experience the game in the highest fidelity possible, with good controls.

Which version offers all that?

Emulated Rayman Revolution

Ps2, Rayman Revolution

I played the GOG.com PC version with joy2key and everything was fine. It was basically identical to the N64 version but with higher quality music instead of N64 midi/chiptunes or whatever you'd call that.

OH _____ _____

>Fleshed out the story
>Introduced new enemies
>Less lums equals less time wasted getting them all and just focusing on the platforming/fighting
>Cages actually have enslaved creatures the pirates captured instead of lums
>Murphy's repugnant whisper-like tutorials where he stops you in your tracks to tell you shit is gone thankfully
>Grolgoth's battle is harder
>Contains the original 2D Rayman 2
It may have less content but it has better content than other versions. Less is more.

I'm fine with less lums. Collectathon is a garbage design. Also it made the levels just short enough that the excessive platforming didn't get old until the very end of the game.

>all that shit
>no gibberish
Yeah don't play that version op

Who DARES distrube the TRANQUILITY of this place!?

The voice acting of the PS1 version was surprisingly good. Fuck the gibberish.
>Well, I say you're a thief. A thief, AND A LIAR TO BOOT!

If you really want a version of Rayman 2 that replaces levels with cutscenes, by all means play the PS1 version

Fuck it, clearly this is something that people still can't agree on after all this time.

I'll just try all of them, except for the N64 and DS versions, which seem to be the worst.

Prove your bullshit and tell me which levels were replace by cutscenes.

N64 version is fine, but from what I can tell you are better off with either the pc version or emulated rayman revolution

Revolution removed the dark ambient lighting
PC a best

Actually it's pretty much universally agreed that the PS1 version is awful. It's just this one user shilling it for whatever reason. There is a reason it's referred to as "gimped". As a life long fan of this game, this is the first time I have ever seen someone defend the PS1 port.

You do you though. I still think the ps2 version is the way to go.

I took a look at some comparisons on youtube of Revolution vs. the DC/PC version and I think it looks worse.

>less is more
>by having some unnecessary cutscenes that don't flesh out anything at all but make the already obvious even more obvious
>less fun to be had
>enslaved creatures should be on the pirate ship, not in the levels
>literally a shittier version of the final boss
>prototype that was scrapped for a good reason
nah

I think I'm getting an understanding that the PC/DC version would be best.

What's up with the 3DS version?

A good chunk of levels were trimmed to make disk space for cutscenes before each boss and voice acting. The of the World is missing entirely.

i pirated the GOG version

It runs slowly. I'd still say it's the best way to play it if you are looking for portable though. For the most part its just an unoptomized port of the Dreamcast version.

Also heard that it's slightly easier, but I'm not sure in what regard.

I just saw that the PC version may have worse texture quality than on Dreamcast. Does that sound like it could be true?

Who cares about ambient lighting when the actual game itself is way better with all the changes they made.

Hall of Doors > shitty laggy hub

>unnecessary cutscenes
In compared to what? This garbage? Fuck no.
youtube.com/watch?v=e4uKd5rro4w

>less fun
Subjective. In your case, wrong too.

>enslaved creatures should be on the pirate ship
It is shown that the amount of slaves in the ship grows with each cutscene, indicating that they're still being transported to it. Rayman saves the ones that are yet to be taken away. Besides, why the fuck would they put goddamn lums in cages? They're fucking semi-sapient bugs and the pirate boss uses them as food of all things.

>Prototype scrapped for a good reason
The reason was that they were making a 2D game during the era where games were transitioning to 3D and they needed to step up.

>The hall/Isle of doors is replaced

The hall of doors is legitimately better.
youtube.com/watch?v=7prVkV7bFi0

I rather have that minigame than the "story" you get in the butchered ps1 version
That's why you emulate it so you don't get the lag, the hub is way better than just the boring level select making it feel more like an actual adventure when you go to new areas.
Not to mention the restructured game just flows better and isn't as pathetically easy as the original.

Rayman 2 was entirely story driven with a focus on platforming, so your shitty minigames are essentially unecessary garbage. I'd rather have a cutscene than a retarded button mashing contest.

I don't call a cutscene that is literally just "I am guardian I fight u" as worthwhile story. The fucking shitty ass minigame has more worthwhile story than those cutscenes.

>Rayman 2 is story driven

You are going to give me autism

>tfw only played the N64 version of the game

If you could combine the best of the dreamcast and ps2 version you'd have a nearly perfect game.

Demul because PCSX2 is a piece of shit.

How is PCSX2 a shit? Better compatibility and accuracy than Demul generally.

The first guardian, Axel, fights Rayman in order to see how righteous his cause is and if he deserves to take the mask. The second guardian, Umber, realizes Rayman is on the side of good and promptly helps him on his quest to another mask. The third one, Foutch, has been driven insane by the destruction of the Heart of the World and believes Rayman to be a lying thief who has come to steal the Mask for malevolent purposes. They all get good explanations for fighting you or not.

The "I am guardian I fight u" was in every version BUT the playstation one, so you just proved yourself wrong. Fuck right off.

Yes it fucking is you idiot.

>Rayman 2 is story driven

It's not. He's just too retarded to configure it properly.

>Better compatibility
Yes.
>and accuracy
HAHAHA good god no.

less levels = less fun

OP just get the PS2 version, it's the best one.

n64 because it's the one i played.
apparently it has the worst music of any version but i don't give a shit.

it's still good.

wait, there were other versions of rayman 2 than ps1?

More like less pointless filler levels = more fun.
You sound like the type of person who enjoys open world games with meaningless infinite fetch quests, and dicks.

you poor bastard

PS1 Rayman 2 is like a demo

Bruh Rayman 2 has been ported to every system under the sun

You can see that just from the gameplay itself, you don't need a cutscene to explain what the gameplay already explains to you. The ps1 version essentially thinks you are a baby who can't think for himself and doesn't understand how stories work.

Rayman 2 has quite a few ports user

There wasnt any filler level in Rayman 2. And no, I don't enjoy most of open world games.

Rayman 1 would be better if it had no levels, only cutscenes.

What is a filler level?

Name one

Is Ace Combat finally not fucked up looking in hardware mode?

>You can see that just from the gameplay itself
None of the other versions tell you anything. The PS1 gives character to them.

But they do, they tell you that in the gameplay itself. The cutscenes are completely unnecessary.

By far the most convenient.

...

>it played way too fast,
tried to limit it to using 1 cpu core?

GoG version should still work, as others pointed out though

>steam version could only be gotten as a pre-order bonus of Rayman Origins
fuck you ubisoft

They don't.
youtube.com/watch?v=o2ZYl7lJ2bk
youtu.be/ldBR7njx0TE?t=1m55s

PS1 wasn't the only version with cutscenes, dumbshit.

I had already played the Vita version, so it was a no-brainier. But I genuinely expected them to release it by itself later on. I guess it's some kind of licensing issue?

I saw Rayman 3 for free on Xbox a couple of days ago so I downloaded it

How is it compared to 2?

>ITT: Manchildren complaining about skippable 10 second cutscenes in a 8 hour long videogame with a grand total of 5 cutscenes

It's shit

I personally think it's just as good, if not, better.

Okay, so from those cutscenes what you now know is:
>Normal versions: "I am guardian I will fight you before you can get the mask"
>PS1 version: "I am guardian I will fight you before you can get the mask because fuck you"
Holy shit this fucking changes everything, this really puts a new spin on these super interesting and deep characters
It's not the cutscenes, it's the fact that the one retard think that those unnecessary cutscenes are worth more than actual fucking gameplay content.

Rushed development unpolished dogshit. Legitimately not fun.

The cutscenes wouldn't be a problem if they didn't shorten levels to include them, dipshit.

Nice job deliberately missing the point.

I think it's great. I don't know why more people don't talk about it

>Pretending to be retarded and missing the fucking point
See

Despite Ancel not being involved, Rayman 3 is pretty damn fun, don't know why there's so much hate for it.

It's really good, but the forced humour can be annoying.

>tfw Rayman 4 on PS5

Why does ubisoft hate rayman?

please god

5 and 0 are pretty much perfect now, but 4 still has that fucked up sun texture and your plane being completely black

>after Wild
So never FUCKING ever, ;_;

It's literally never happening my dude

I gave up ten years ago and so should you

It is a lot shorter then i remember it being. I still enjoyed it.

Don't kill yourself by going for the full 100% though.

>See you in Rayman 4!
words cannot describe how happy I would be for a fourth fully 3d rayman game
