A lot. Quality game, especially for 10 dollars. If there's one game I'd recommend someone buy if they're low on cash, Terraria is always the answer.
Honestly the only thing I didn't like was the world getting more corrupted over time, it meant that if I was taking my time playing the game, eventually my cool work would be corrupted with bad textures.
It's very fun the first time you play it
But then you start using inventory editors and map editors
On my first playthrough I cheated in the biome keys, because of the retarded drop rate 1/2500
Also fighting waves of enemies gets really fucking dull
The Celestial Pillars are cancer
The content,the items
That helicopter update really sold me on this.
Clentaminator
I still never finished my expert playthrough... currently at plantera
Also never played the moon lord shit, is it bad? The farthest thing I played was frost moon
just dig trenches ;^)
its a great game that i played for like 500 hours now, made countless worlds and characters and played quite a few mods too
also, this image has so many things wrong with it that it's slightly painful to look at
The fight against the Cultist is great and fun, then you have to take down 4 pillars. 2 of them the blue and pink are fine and fair, the other ones like the orange one just shit out enemies that do tons of damage, its such a slog takes like 20 mins. Then the Moon Lord himself is really imbalanced, it would be fine if he didnt spawn invincible laser eyes as you damaged him. I only won the fight by using the Nurse constantly, I was lucky she didnt get killed by him like my other npcs
To get end game gear you have to repeat the moon lord fight, its just fucking cancer man you'll want to cheat in the items
Depth/variety..
Honestly my main concern is the world size.
It would be great if you could customize things before the world is created like amount of biomes, Lenght and height, preset structures and such.
I think it has a really god variety for a 10 dollar game. Gameplay depth not much, but how simple it is it's both it's weakness and strong points.
>mobility depth
>double- through ~septuple jumping, movement speed, dashing, mounted effects, hookshots..
>flying carpet and boot accessories, wings..
I didn't say that it doesn't have much depth as in "it's really simple and basic" but that it doesn't reach stupid levels of skill ceiling.
Terraria is one of my favourite games of all time. I'll never understand why Red added SO MUCH content and updates for free for such a small game but boy it convinced me and I'm paying for whatever he's making next, he fully earned my trust.
Server?
Anything after the mechanical bosses is just a slog.
Plantera is literally
>Walks on you
The Golem is just fucking boring and doesn't pose any real challenge, the celestial pillars are cancer, Cultist and Moon Lord were alright fights.
Regularly rewarding, rewards always feel worth while and you can actually feel the building of power, the progression is so satisfying.
I always usually end up going with a wizard by the end of the game despite the lack of classes, all the endgame spells are flashy as fuck
Wish that Summons weren't so terrible for damage besides the dragon
You can't get the rod of discord that early. Most people never even get it.
>Still adding content over 5 years later
The devs clearly care for their game and love working on it. You really feel the love put into this game.
The only game I have over 100+ hours on steam.
Only problem with the game is how trivial the bosses become once you get the Apache Helicopter.
THERE ARE NO APACHES IN TERRARIA
I remember playing both Terraria and Castlevania SOTN for the first time back in autumn 2011. What a comfy time that was.
Moon Lord is bad even in normal mode. I had to cheese him by making a special tiny room with honey, heart lamps and heart statues and using the Solar Eruption and the Stardust Dragon.
Dude, have you seen the M1 Abrams? Thing is OP as fuck.
honestly, i have a hard time pinpointing the reasons. it's just overall comfy, easy to play yet has difficulty (at least in the beginning). progression is always fun too
What?
-Launched as a 10$ game, basically riding the Minecraft popularity wave.
-Nice execution of 2D Minecraft, good art and game mechanics. Turns out Metroidvania and Minecraft is a pretty fucking great marriage.
-Proceeds to kick Mojang's shit in with regards to making a good game.
Me after playing initially: This was an entertaining 60 hours, a shame there isn't more content.
Me 5 years after: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I just got this on the ps4 and I don't have a clue what to do.
It's like Minecraft, I dig a hole, build a shit house then get bored
How do I play this game?
>SomeonecallmeJohnny decides to try Terraria
>gets hooked to it and blows 40h alone in a small map
>Gets stuck on WoF but decides to make the review anyway
>"I wanted to make the review because I guess I'm about to finish the game as it's the only place I haven't been yet and I didn't want to delay the review anymore. The gam'es great and has so much things and items to get. After this review I'll play some more and see if there's any post game content but Terraria is a great deal for 12 dollars, don't doubt a bit on buying it if it's your thing"
I love seeing people realizing how big and full of shit this game is.
thanks for reminding me of that video user
Build more rooms, and start getting ready for boss fights
Honestly you need to have the Terraria wiki open to play this game, there are just too many recipes and items.
Ah ok. I built one basic room then during the day just ran and dug. Didn't really find anything interesting.
Then spent the night in my one room shack wondering what the games about
I just wanted to play something that lets me spawn minion's or build sentry guns

Expert-mode Plantera has ranged mechanics.
You're trying way to hard to beat a boss that is incredibly easy.
Actually, the guide and other NPCs have a lot of information on what's going on. Playing with only looking up stuff like NPC housing is OK, although mob drops and all the other knowledge is helpful and acceptable, I hear.
>fishing
it was fun like a 2d minecraft. it was fun when i played with a friend.
>it was fun like a 2d minecraft with combat variety, lots of bosses and gear, and innovations (for the genre) like a grappling hook and double-jumps
