50 of these guys show up and slap your eco ass and 1/2 of the ass of everyone around them, what do you do?

Good luck I'm behind 7 walls

Sure hope you researched Heresy in Castle Age.

I use superior giga nigger elephants.

How in the fuck is that an "oo" sound.

BRRRYAAAAAAAAH

Its not fair. Priest upgrades are actually good, if you have the economy for it.

AAAAAAH I WAS WINNING AND I LET EL CID DIE

>ever letting hero units out of a towncenter/castle when they're required to survive
hero units were a mistake

let me show you the real late game unit

should I make a lobby? FFA so that everyone has a chance

>tfw trying to help your friends git gud at the game

I was basically using him as my whole army for half the game, he can take half a dozen cav archers by himself. But I let him die to a stray galleon, feels bad

To be fair, most of the mechanisms are hidden. I suspected lancers were good against cavalry but it was never confirmed until someone on /vg/ explained that there was a crapload of hidden stats.
Same thing for the sequel Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds.

>t. microlets

>crapload of hidden stats

Show me, please.

Sup Forums barely has the attention span to join 5-10 minute fighting game lobbies, I really don't think anyone here will be able to devote 30-40 minutes for an AoE2 game. That being said I'd play if a bunch of people joined in.

That's explained to you in the civ overview menu though. I think it might even mention that in the unit creation window when you click on your barracks.

The spearmen, for example, deal a lot more damage to cavalry than said in their description. I don't remember the exact number, but the game tells you they deal 3 damage. While they actually deals 15 damages to any cavalry unit.

It's explained that they're good at some roles and such, yeah. But frankly, I played many, many games where the information in the manual or even the UI is either just for flavour or totally wrong, so unless the stats reflect that, I'm going to take it at face value.

>most infantry has a slight attack bonus against eagle warriors
>militia line has an attack bonus against buildings
>spear line has an attack bonus against cavalry
>higher tier spear units have a stronger bonus
>bonus is higher against elephants, lower against camels
>eagle warriors have bonus damage against monks and a weaker one against cavalry
That's just the basic barracks stuff

whatever makes you feel better about babysitting a unit bro

Eagle Warriors are also resistant to monk conversation like the Light Cavalry line.

micro this

>playing as the japanese
>finish making a new worker
*gong* YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

>most of the mechanisms are hidden
i still can't get over the fact non-HD edition camels were classified as ships

I find quite fun to teach friends how to play, I just give them a few AI´s on their team to make it fair and point out where they could improve
everytime I lose a match because there´s a guy in my team that doesn´t know how to even properly make an eco I stay with him after the game to give them tips and such. usually if you care enough to git gud, you can
Until the expansions Camels were classified in the same armor class as ships. this gives them a bonus against buildings while giving buildings a huge bonus against them, so they are shit at raiding. after removing that in the expansions and adding imp camels thay are suddenly quite good at raiding
also cataphracts are not cab in armor ratings, so they are difficult to counter if you don´t have the eco to kill a big push

I blame Age of Empires 2 for making me a huge weeaboo.

WHAT

>Halberdiers have a +32 attack bonus against cavalry, +60 for elephants and +24 against camels
>Huskarls have a +6 bonus against archers, +10 in the case of Elite Huskarls
>Hand Cannoneers have a +10 bonus against infantry
>Skirmishers have a +3 bonus against archers and the Halberdier line

on top of that spearmen deal even more damage to elephants, up to 60 with halbs
they still win by a landslide, but they are cost effective as fuck

what's the best game mode and why is it nomad?

read That wasn't fixed until African Kingdoms came out.

I want to reinstall AoE2 HD now. Even though I suck at it.

Yeah, elephants are considered cavalry.

I wonder how many of those are intended and how many are bugs.

>also cataphracts are not cab in armor ratings
Actually they are. The just happen to have a pretty high resistance to anti-cavalry attacks. Halberdiers still have a notable bonus damage but it's a lot lower and hem being infantry doesn't help.

BUUUUURRRRRRAAAAAAAPPPPP

the game has a nice balance, at least regarding the units themselves. when it comes to civs some need a serious buff.
at least Turks are suddenly pretty solid in team games if there´s a berber ally

Never played the English version, but I remember some lines being hilarious. Like the AT AT saying "they won't see episode 2" when told to attack.

How does the multiplayer compare to Starcraft?
How does the ladder work?

>How does the multiplayer compare to Starcraft?

The game killed Brood War multiplayer (not map making) scene in the west and forced Blizzard to develop replays for Brood War in 2001, long after they'd stopped development on the game.

You gain point when you win and lose points when you lose. Also go on voobly, hd's playerbase is bad

It's "They won't be back for the sequel"

It was translated differently. You do know English isn't the only language in existence, right?

player with the highest aoe2 apm is playing the singleplayer campaigns right now and his heroes constantly die 11

Malista

I was saying what it is in the English version, user. Sorry if I was unclear.

Your orders, general?

how would you fix siege towers? have you ever used one?

Technically it's a full game, just based on the same engine and mechanics.

Doesn't look good on modern hardware unlike AoE2 HD, but you can install the "Expanding Fronts" mod for modern resolutions and more content

The only civ with Battle Elephants and Heresy are Malay, whose also lose out on the second cavalry armor upgrade

Ha, sorry. I took it personally, I thought you were trying to correct me. My apologies.

Only played against AI, and AI never use walls.

(Sshhh, I'm trying to fuck with them!)
Also, the GoG version has a few missing files. There's only one music and use it runs out, it's silence.

>this will be super fun to micro
>super excited
>loses him not even a minute in
fucking biper

seeing him not even build a wonder in saladin 6 and just curbstomp all the ai oppenents until they surrendered was hilarious though

Do people still do co-op lobbies with like 5 humans versus 3 CPUS just for funsies? I used to do that all the time in Starcraft.

Proseche

>Research Drill as Mongols
>Load up Siege Tower with infantry
>It's now one of the fastest units in the game

Otherwise the only real other practical use is that it tanks arrows better than a ram.

yeah, there are a good number of players stuck in 1400 so those fill up pretty quickly too

Galactic Battlegrounds was comfy butI think Clone Campaigns was way unbalanced.
>Air Cruisers are basically Cannons+
>CIS gets almost no good techs until very late game
>Republic meanwhile has insane nursey and troop center upgrades

[angry housed noises]

I keep saying that I'll use them but then I also keep forgetting that they exists

Honestly, the Trade Federation in the vanilla game felt pretty broken.
