>Curved Monitors

dont meme your dream

although switching to a 144hz tft is always nice

I don't have one but it seems like a good idea for wider displays so you lose less to viewing angles and glare.

A lot of the popular games don't' support it, competitive games like mobashit and csgo aren't going to let you see any more than anyone else can. Also probably because it's only 30% more screen with usually a 25% loss in fps.

>not falling for all the memes at once

Just ordered a Dell AW3418DW

34" 3440x1440p
g-sync

the human eyes' aspect ration is closer to 16:9. any wider and you are basically cutting off the tops and bottoms

Only blizzard trash doesn't properly support it. The rest all natively do or have a 10 seconds long hotfix for it.

>mobashit and csgo aren't going to let you see any more than anyone else can

Except you do? Not sure where you're getting this from.

That shit wouldn't even fit on my desk

16:10 1200p master race

That's some serious shit right there senpai

Enjoy it that's a beast good luck with backlight bleeding

What are you supposed to do if the game doesn't support it, play with ugly ass black boxes on either side of the screen?

>g-sync
>not freesync
proprietary garbage that doesn't even work right is KEWL

he's baiting
successfully
dumb faggot

Okay, what amd gpu would you use to run games at 3440x1440 at high refresh rates?
The overpriced vega shit you can't even find?

I hate Nvidia bullshit too but sometimes it's the only way to go

>lcd

I just want my good old crt monitor back.

I still use a square standard definition monitor gotta admit, these things take a lot of damage

>unironically buying Vega housefires
>willingly submitting yourself to nonexistant Vega drivers from AMD
>willingly submitting yourself to freesync flickering

lol?

I phrased it poorly, I meant in moba games the fog of war is the same for everyone so you're not seeing any more than you would typically. I wasn't aware cs:go supported 21:9 so that's interesting, I don't see it helping much though.

Yeah dawg, I love having to pan and tilt my fucking head too see shit in multiplayer games, while someone playing on a 23 inch 1920x1200 screen kills me before I can move my neck

You stupid fucking retard

>Tilt my fucking head
So you've never seen a 21:9 monitor irl, you never have to

... except the 16:9 area you'd see on the right monitor is in the exact same spot on your field of view? are you fucking stupid?

...

>21:9
only AAA games and MOBAs have good support for it, everything else needs tinkering, patches, hex editing and it might not look good in the end.

Ultrawide is good for work and watching movies, not gaming.

Not correct, and even then, most recent games 5 years from now support it properly even with modding, which takes less than 30seconds to get running

the problem is not even the amount of the games that support it, but how things plays out when it doesn't, it can stretch, zoom or just display a 16:9 window with black bars on the side. Stretching and zooming is pure cancer, and in some cases your only option is playing on windowed mode.

>ration

Why is the 21:9 screen bigger than the 16:9 one in this comparison?

I might be interested in ultrawide but they're currently more expensive than equivalent 4k monitors and there's no hiDPI models. Maybe in like 5 years they'll be the standard and I'll pick one up. Also I mainly play fighting games so there's no point until then anyway.

>21:9
Just call it 7:3 you fucking faggots.

cheap marketing for stupid working class?

I'd rather just have two 16:9 monitors.

That's the point you clown
Same height but wider

Stop disrespecting vertical space. We all don't have shinky slit eyes. My vertical periphery is significant.

So it's pretty much going to plateau at 8k right?

I prefer 16:12.

>Spending money on an overpriced device that isn't supported by most media
ok.

>bigger monitor/sit closer
>raise the FoV
>see same width as 21:9 but with acceptable verticle FoV

>what is a typo

stupid nigger

i'm not a manlet, i don't need a manlet monitor

Yeah, I really miss those headaches.

Support is shit, and 21:9 sucks for all office tasks.

I mean, you can pivot 16:9 if your monitor supports it, but 21:9? Forget it.

What the fuck nigga

I just create a custom resolution from nvidia control panel and force it onto shit, while playing in a windowed mode to watch what my friends chat in IRC meanwhile.
1900x900 gives me a ridiculous fov and alt-tabbing happens in an instant because it's windowed.

You're too close to your monitor you dumbass, also what is peripheral vision

i bet this retard buy a gsync monitor while having a amd vga

>Dell

best brand of monitors. ...

as if it makes literally any difference if you get a Dell or a Samsung or whatever the shit monitor there's available.

Got 27" 75Hz IPS & 24" 144Hz TN.
Both 1080p and FreeSync.
I'm pretty happy with this setup.

>choosing a screen that does not follow the auric divine proportion
Fucking pleb.

>27" 1080p

How do you live with the low pixel density, I can't use that as more than a second monitor

trying to convince myself to go 1440p but i read it's like a 40% hit to frame rate, I'd rather stay at 1080p 144hz 2bh

Everyone, look at this ignorant fuckhead and laugh at him.

>165hs 4ms response time
>21:9
lel.

By being sufficiently far away from the screen. Where I am I can only vaguely discern the pixel grid after staring at a still image for a few seconds, aka something that never happens.

>Dell god of monitors
>Literally the Dell rejected panels due to low quality are the ones that apple and koreans use for their monitors

Full retard.

I own a Samsung CFG70 and a Dell E773C connected to the same machine, so I get 1280 x 960 72 Hz CRT gloriousness and 120 Hz Full HD reluctance at the same time. AMA

i play 17''

>Having a shit pc on your beautiful CRT Monitor causing your stupid headaches
Blame yourself for being a retard user

>Of the 1% of PC users with high end components only 1% of them own a 21:9 monitor
>Buying niche shit that never gets proper support

If I had to buy niche shit I'd SLI or something.

>YWN find a 200hz CRT Monitor for sale anymore
I just want to play Quak Champions at 200hz mang

never has there been a more misinformed post, amazing

1440p, 4k, or 120hz+? Thinking of getting a new monitor dunno which will be the biggest improvement without costing a new graphics card a year from 1080p60hz

.

Hz matters most if you're playing high motion games. Otherwise go for 1440p.

21:9 is reatrded

I do and I love it. I can't even play console games anymore because of it. I'm hyped for the new QDOT 4K HDR 200Hz Gsync panels coming this xmas from Asus/Acer/etc. Can't wait to upgrade my first generation 21:9 monitor, pic related.

Those new monitors are just for 27 inch 16:9 though, right?

>AMD gpu
I have a ryzen but come on AMD has a shit GPU department, Just gotta pay that GSYNC tax buddy

More games natively support 21:9 than games that don't suffer performance degradation by trying to run SLi. Think about that for a moment.

>Those new monitors are just for 27 inch 16:9 though, right?
Nope. Welcome to the bleeding edge of monitor technology that isn't OLED: asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG35VQ/

>There are people not playing in 49:18 at 900 FPS in the year of 2017

You guys do realize that this is pretty much REQUIRED at this point to have fun playing video games, right? I can't even fucking believe you guys sometimes. Anything less is a detriment to the overall experience, but it seems like Sup Forums is still filled with a bunch of fucking morons.

Interesting. Thought you were referencing the 4K HDR IPS monitors that just got delayed into 2018

I have a curved 144hz, 21:9, IPS FreeSync display.
I absolutely love it.
I'll never go back to 16:9, non IPS or less than 144hz. Ever.

It's so much better than normal monitors, how have I been playing at 60hz all my life?
And curved is actually great.
All the people saying 21:9, 144hz and curved is a gimmick or useless are clearly just poorfags who can't afford a good monitor.

Yes, but a 32 inch 16:9 has more screen area than a 32 inch 21:9. So if they were the same price, you are actually losing viewing area, as demonstrates.

I don't give a shit either way. I'm still using a 16:10 and a 4:3.

21:9 is GOAT. Though I spend more time watching movies instead of vidya because of it.

> 16:10 never became the standard

It's not fair. It's the best compromise between 16:9 and 4:3.

>you are actually losing viewing area
Not him but I don't understand. If they have the same vertical resolution then you'd be seeing the same thing height-wise would you not? I'm sure it would be a little bigger on the 16:9 monitor but I don't understand how anything would be straight up lost.

Honestly, playing Redout at 144fps on my 21:9 display is absolutely mesmerizing.
I'm getting into racing games just because of my new monitor.
Absolutely love it. Though I still can't decide what's better, to use FreeSync or to use the 1ms motion blur reduction feature. They both give an insanely smooth image.

Well well what do we have here

You will loose some physical size. If you're a manlet living in a chinese apartment then a 20" is most likely more than enough for you.

bought 2560x1080 29" 21:9 ISP monitor, never going back to either >21:9 or TN panels, 21:9 feels so much more natural for games and movies. Comfiest aspect ratio

I have 2 22" flat crts.
It's 70lbs, you can pay for shipping.

>not playing at 1366x768 like the best gamers
heh..

>not playing 4:3
plebians

Great resolution for playing mid 2000 pc games in 16:9 where ui scaling is not present.

>Yes, but a 32 inch 16:9 has more screen area than a 32 inch 21:9. So if they were the same price, you are actually losing viewing area

Umm no? 21:9 adds horizontal viewing space, it doesn't crop vertical space (unless the game you are playing is Overwatch, one of the only games that doesn't support 21:9 native resolution output).

You gain an increased FOV by nature of the aspect, which means more information.

this is retarded
i cannot believe you were able to make something so retarded, because of how retarded you are

>not playing 4:3 bb
haha n00b

>34"

too big

hello cs bro :3
