Isn't Seven like 7 years old at this point?

I honestly thought I was the only person who liked this game. It's probably one of the best PS2 games out there and people just ignore it for whatever reasons.

It's mostly because Oath in Felghana and Origin exist.

Yeah those are great games too, but I've legit seen people try to shit on VI (and praise the other games) and honestly their opinions never really make much sense if you actually like the series.

felghana is one of the best action games I've ever played. Did they officially release in english? I remember playing it with a fan patch made by a particular obnoxious retard (he only hacked, did not translate).

It's been localized on PSP and PC for years now.

Oath and Origins are more polished mechanically but I like Ark's atmosphere the most. Also the tropical setting.

VIII is nowhere near top dog. It beats out Celceta but that's about it.

I like Ark's more open levels you could explore. A combination of the later games' amazing boss fights and Ark's exploration would be perfect.

There was an attempt to make Ys a more Action-like series. But Adol moved and attacked way too slowish using your shied was assigned to a different button. Magic is fucking worthless.

I don't hate the party system but it's too easy. Bosses in VIII were basically Flash Move + Flash Guard and spam your best skill. Doesn't help that the hit boxes are very lenient.

Ark just needs a mode where I can play as Geis. That will fix all the issues I had with it

Celceta was much more enjoyable to me then Napishtim. I played Napishtim recently and it controlled sorta awkwardly, Celceta was easier but I liked the combat more even with the broken flash parry and dodge.

Ys II is such a massive leap in quality over the first game. It's definitely worth playing, even if just for the bosses. You get a fire projectile and all of the boss fights are essentially shoot em ups

Origin is a prequel to the whole series. You might miss a few references to the first two games if you don't finish them both, but there's nothing major that will prevent you from enjoying Origin. I played it before I played any of the other Ys games, and I loved it.

I unironically like the Dark Fact fight. I think it's a nice change of pace compared to the previous bosses in Ys1 and doesn't deserve the bad rap it gets.

you can play whatever game you want in the series. the story is junk and shouldn't deter you from appreciating the nice rpg style action game it is. The game has many retarded and pedantic fans in the pc crowd, but it's only great as a peculiar action rpg.

I'm the same as you. I watched a playthrough but honestly it's not really all that important. Just play Origin.
