MMOs are boring as fuck, why do you people send thousands of hours playing them?

Have tried and tried, but it's all the same. How do you people not get tired of this repetitive combat, especially the faggot healer types.

>Be Healer
>Literally press two buttons throughout the entire raid
>When no pressing two buttons you're just standing around
>The only time you have to press more than two buttons is 1, when you first start the raid you have to buff your party and shit and 2, rebuffing

>Tanks
>Literally 2 button class
>All you have to do is press the aggro button and the Shield/Block button timed with the boss attacks so you don't get hit

>Range Class types
>Have to press slightly more buttons that Healers and Tanks because you are never in any danger so you can use those Ultimate attacks that time 1 year to start up and than another year to cooldown
>Literally should never die in raids unless your Tank is shit at pressing two butons
>Almost as boring as healer

>DPS class types
>You start off having to press 10 buttons and thinking your class takes a shit-ton of skill until you read the ultimate DPS build guild by Kirito himself which boils down to using your TIMED Super Saiyan Kirito buff which reset or decreases cooldown on your best attack by 200%
>When it is on cooldown you are literally doing nothing but evading and waiting for Super Saiyan Kirito to reset

And that's just the classes themselves. That's not even the fact that you stand in one spot and watch the same animations over and over and never have to move because Healer is there. The enemies just stand in one stop and swing at you like a fucking sissy trying to throw an actual punch at someone. When their not doing that they're just taking your CC and Stun up their asses, no lube. The bosses are just big ass field attacks and you make or may not have to run out because Healer will just heal you.

Do you people serious just play for the social aspect? Why not just do that on Twitter if you want to talk to people. Or one of those virtual chatrooms?

Because all FPSes suck ass right now too.

Fuck Battlefield 1.
Fuck Overshit.
TF2 is dead.

stfu u fucking weeb

consistent reward schedules mostly

You could try XIV, where healers and tanks are actually expected to do dps and pop cooldowns and dps are expected to constantly be moving around and attacking

If you play an MMO, it's for the gameplay, the setting, classes, and so on in this nice package of a game that you can essentially play forever because of the amount of content it theoretically provides. However all MMOs fall into this pit of trying to be like WoW to this day and failing to properly support their games, usually involving listening to a extremely minor but vocal population of either complete casuals who have no idea what's good for the game, elitists who have no idea what's good for the game, or both. Eventually the devs start straying away from the original appeal and draw of their MMO and instead make decisions that only further dwindles the playerbase instead of gaining more.

It's a shame that this happens to literally every single MMO.

Its about the timesink and if you play something long time then its usually because of the community.

A mmo gameplay general gets boring after a month or 2

>FPS
>MMO

Nigga what

MMOs are fucking dead right now dude, the better question would be why shallow hero shooters and battle royale shit is popular.

it's interesting that you post a picture named Dragon's Dogma 2 art when I don't think any of your issues exist in the Dragon's Dogma MMO.

>battle royale shit is popular.
Niggas be watching too much hunger games.

I'VE BEEN WONDERING THE SAME THING FOR TEN YEARS.

That's Vindictus you false flagging mongoloid

The MMO that the picture is actually from, Vindictus, doesn't have this problem either as there are no real tanks or healers. Everyone is a DPS with minor abilities towards maybe tanking or a little healing here or there, but nothing like WoW

That said Vindictus has a host of other problems

You can tell whether an MMO is good or not by how much the Tank is required to move in order to dodge attacks and avoid getting hit.

>He didn't read the filename

Why did you take such weak bait? Not to mention Dragon's Dogma 2, nigga that don't even exist. It's possible you may actually be retarded.

Name one MMO with a good Tank mechanics

Dodging is the worst thing to every happen to mmos.

What do you mean you people?

Lmao how do people play fps games its literally just two buttons, aim and shoot, boring wtf???

Because people play them with their friends.

Why don't they make an MMO with good gameplay.

Unless you're playing Single Player only with set spawns, the experience is never the same. Fighting Games is another example.

Because you losers don't even know what you mean by "good gameplay"

>Because people play them with their friends.
Survey says majority of people start as solo players and then gain friend in the game later or just stay solo.

i play them because a lot of my friends do and its a pretty solid social experience with them. moderately high level raiding can be extremely rewarding and fun, obviously not server first shit, that's supreme autism and turns the game into a job rather than leisure.

i also find they're pretty good for doing menial, repetitive, but satisfying things while I listen to some enjoyable podcasts or music. I can't do that with most games.

and for me at least the novelty of having a huge open world populated with players across it will never wear off. shit like final fantasy 14 kind of misses that mark though with every area being small and instanced with constant teleporting.

I do, and it's not mindless hotbar skill rotation repeated ad infinitum.

>a huge open world populated with players across it will never wear off.

But you NEVER ever engage any form of social activities with them and vise versa because muh google is muh strat guide. They may as well be NPCs. I could understand back in the day when you HAD to talk to people in-game, but today's MMOs.... nah.

"not x" is not knowing what you want

MMOs used to be all about social interaction with other players and doing fun content with them. Nowadays everything is catered for singleplayer experience. WoW is the worst example of this. You can clear all of the content without having to say a word to others.

Says who? Some wiener on Sup Forums?

You can't do new heroic/mythic raids or high level mythic+ dungeons without some communication.

But yeah, I do miss the vanilla days of a lot of quests being fucking hard (depending on your class) and requiring you to actually find and team up with people. Party finder does suck too, I can't argue with that, but at this point there's so many normies that just expect those conveniences and they're the biggest cashcows, needed for a very expensive MMO.

Wiener wiener wiener
Mmo are for wieners

I think this is a likely response due to the fact that MMO populations have severely dwindled in recent years and have notoriously bad attach rates.

This was especially evident in Tera back in 2014 or so where the majority of people still playing were already at the end game, so newbies had no chance to finish party related raids because there were no people to join them. Cue a couple years later, they revamped the early game to become more accomodating to newbies.

Blame every other MMOs for pushing all necessary events for end game and leaving none of lowbies with anything. I fucking hate it that recent MMOs require you to be at least halfway from max level to fully enjoy the game.

Back then every level threshold was part of the experience. Now you have to fucking slog through 50 or so levels before actually having fun.

>Tera back in 2014
I started playing TERA in 2014 when I got my first gaming equivalent laptop, leading up to TENSUS gear and the revamp Summer 2015 and beyond. I only used the Dungeons to level all 6 of my characters to max cap.I didn't ever have problems finding dungeons.

You must be on NA then.

On EU, it was a fucking ghost town.

FFXIV is the greatest offender of this. You have to play through something like 200 hours of a poorly written, shitty boring story packed to the brim with repetitive, braindead fetch quests and speak to ____ quests to unlock all dungeons and raids. Its asinine. I felt a small spark of elation when I actually had an occasional quest that requires me to kill a certain number of enemies. Can't believe I spent $60+ on that shit. Couldn't bring myself to finish Stormblood.

At least with Legion in WoW, Blizzard knows their old content is trivialized abject trash (not that Legion questing is all that much better) and gives you a level 100 boost from the get-go.

Final Fantasy XIV is going to choke itself to death because of this shit.

Xiv has the paid story skip now
It'll probably be integrated next expansion

Only reason mmos succeed now are because of the addictive elements they have which is why they're all skinnerboxes. If it wasn't for the fact that many of he current big mmos were one of the first ones they wouldn't be nearly as big as they are now because the community said mmos created were formed back when community was actually a thing. A lot of them are just being kept alive through a mixture of nostalgia and skinnerbox elements.

And it costs like $25

So an hour and a half of working minimum wage
Woah
If you're need you have the time

Either you're missing the point or you're a massive fanboys that has put way too much of his life in to the game

Yeah, I called it when I realized that content is literally gated behind 150 hours of retarded quests. It will take you 2-3 weeks if you no life just to finish all the main quests and a lot of them are cancerous fetch quests or you have to walk around and emote. i burnt out multiple times just from the quest line and the only reason I stuck to level 60 was because of my friend. I quit when I had even more fucking grinding to do. It's a fucking joke. To top it off now there's jump potions, it's fucking laughable.

Carrot and stick

>Hour and a half
m8, that's in USD. That's anywhere from 5-6 hours of minimum wage after tax.

A sense of 'community' cause they're lonely fucks
Ez gameplay with mashing hotkeys and right clicking plus a chance of reward
ERP

That's it

>massive fanboy
I quit xiv right after SB dropped and it was more of the same
Game is shit, but you can't say the old story is forced now

>Buy game and two expansions
>Have to spend an addition $25 to actually play with everyone else
>HURR ITS NOT A BIG DEAL

Truely a fucking retard.

MMOs were never really about the mechanics, its about who you play it with.

Its about spending that time with your friends user.

Garlemald did nothing wrong

$50 for the story skip and to level a character to 60.

Mmos are the greatest game on life. You just dont know, impudence.

because they have no lives, it's all they have.

funny because most people i know that play mmos are huge normies with fairly active social lives.

Truly a fucking poorfag

Bring back Ragnarok glory days.

Get a life instead of ERPing with all the other socially retarded dumbshits on Balmung

Who ERPs here on MMOs regularly?

When FFXIV first launched I ERP'd for several months after hitting the cap on everything because there was nothing else to do

What kind of normies do you know
Everyone I know who invests tons of time into MMOs are reclusive, work 3rd shift and/or don't have many good friends

Does anyone have that one comic where it shows healers/tanks/ranged dps have easy jobs, then the melee dps doing crazy calculations while dodging shit on the ground

>Games like WOW, GW, etc cost 200 - 500 millions dollars to make
>Black Desert Online cost 1 million dollars to make

Let that sink in for a second

True so that's why Black Desert is trash

Instead of the gameplay think about about the turnaround their making from this game you consider shit. That's a lot of fucking money. What the fuck are these big western companies even spending their money on?!?

mmos are god tier for trolling people.

Let tank die, wipe groups intentionally, ninja loot, great times.

Blade and soul

Is this shit ever coming out in the west anyway?

WOW never cost close to 200 to make

and blizzard make all their money back 20 times within the first year, they expected 500k subs within 2 months and they ended up with 4 million

>Black Desert Online cost 1 million dollars to make
Impossible. The in-house engine must have cost that much on it's own.

>Impossible. The in-house engine must have cost that much on it's own.
mmos.com/editorials/black-desert-online-mmorpg-development-done-right

Nope, just Westerns don't know how to spend their fucking money. This is fucking insane when you compare the quality of Black Desert Online to literally every game ever made in the history of this industry. Again I ask; what the fuck are Western companies doing with their money that it cost 200 - 500 million just to make a fucking game?!?

What the hell type of weapon is that?

For the socialization and persistence which made people ignore the gameplay and grind. That also explains why genre fell out of style seeing as both of those are ubiquitous to online gaming these games.

>Again I ask; what the fuck are Western companies doing with their money that it cost 200 - 500 million just to make a fucking game?!?

standard of living, or working in this case.

it's the social aspect, user. grinding isn't fun but grinding while talking stuff with friends can be fun.
you basically need friends or/and a decent guild/clan to make them enjoyable

it's an outdated genre that used to be the shit back in 2003 with WoW, L2 etc. which is why most people don't play them now.

>grinding isn't fun but grinding while talking stuff with friends can be fun.

I don't play Madden and never will, nether do I like football, but MAN IT'S SO FUN WHEN I PLAY THIS SHIT WITH A FRIEND!!!

No, that's not how it works. That's a stupid reason to play a shitty game for over 1000 hours of your life.

What's persistent about the average multiplayer game these days?

>mfw archlord is dead
>Mfw Aion is dead
>Mfw Nostalrius is dead
>Mfw not a single good Everquest server

Are there even any good mmos worth playing right now or coming out soon.

It's like they all vanished. I was interested in the next EQ and they canned it.

WoW is boring and I didn't like the elder scrolls based on its beta

I just want something that brings back that early 2000's feeling

Personally I just want to play a game where I can grind to get better. I have tried all different genres and I just don't have enough skill to get good. I'm stuck in silver in LoL and bronze in Overwatch. I don't have any reflexes so playing anything but mmo's makes me want to kill myself.

>Mfw Aion is dead
Lies. AION is still in the top 5 games funding NC Soft globally, meaning all regions.

numbers of buttons you have available is not indicative of difficulty dumbass, writting takes most of the keyboard i guess writting is the most hardcore game ever? fucking retards seriously.

Are you sure? Well at least in EU the community was quite scarce though.
They are probably in Murrica? You know, since the paywalls were worst here in EU.

Only girls would want to socialize.

I keep playing MMOs for the same reason I spend at least an hour every night trying desperately to bludgeon some sensation back into my disfigured, tortured cock.

massivelyop.com/2017/08/07/ncsoft-q2-2017-financials-blade-and-soul-console-guild-wars-2-drops-again/

Bullshit, a quarter of that 200 million is just gonna be used on the actual game and development costs, the rest goes into shitty marketing.
Case in point, Destiny. Game is a piece of shit but since it got marketed out the ass it sold so well, same shit with CoD and other "AAA" games. Marketing is 90% of the budget for these titles. Only smaller companies, and dev teams do it the opposite way, since they can't afford the cost of marketing anyway, so they just use it all on development.
Get a clue, brainlet.

19% is a big drop desu.
Truth be told, Aion is a bit old and it´s a pain to grind.
I cannot remember any good instance desu. But the world design and the art were interesting, that and the freedom of movement while flying.
I remember being an Elyos and flying down to the city below Sanctum.
Those were the days.

t. someone who has never played MMOs at endgame

>raiding
>playing pve mmos
how to spot a brainlet

Play FF14. Problem solved. None of the shit you are talking about applies to it, because it's not a bad game.

>Waah why do I have to play the game to get to the end of the game
>Waah why is there a long story in a FINAL FANTASY game

Go back to WoW, shitters. So glad my game filters out retarded philistines like you. The story is what makes FF14 the only MMO worth playing if you're not an OCD 12 year old.

>Year √4068289
>People still pay for grind
Nope.avi

what's wrong with restart?

Does it have player housing? Can I be a cool steampunk bounty hunter with cool armor and jetpack and guns and shit?

clan housing

>philistines
The sad thing is that the community in FFXIV is so shit that I'm not sure that this is even bait

FFXIV

>Outdated MMO combat from 2005
>Outdated questing that causes the game to be a snorefest
>By far the most story grind MMO in the history of mankind with gated content locked behind Story mode
>FFXIV Defense force literally tells you to Pay2Win that way you can avoid the shitty story grind

Can I decorate it and build cool shit like in Rift?
