Prey from what I played of the demo was surprisngly good, RE7 was the game that brought the franchise back to horror but really fell apart with the boat section, I'd count the Yakuza games but they technically came out last year.

It's not trying to retcon them to bring good, its growing up and realizing that speeding about everything in the prequels is why Star Wars is now so bland and safe and artificial. Prequels are bad, but honest movies. Everything Disney makes is focus tested and fake, for the hype audience to be consumed and forgotten after a couple months.

And also RLM are hypocrites who praised TFA for being chock full of references and devoid of originality when they bashed Rogue One, deservingly so, for the same reasons.
