Neo Scavenger

Anyone played this game? Looks pretty cool (also super hard - youtu.be/MG3Yc0ddoEY) but I can't decide if it's worth the money

Yeah I can definitely recommend it if you're into roguelikes. It's like that innawoods flash website but with actual gameplay. Best scavenging experience currently on the market IMO. I just wish there were more enemies/mutants but I'm sure there are mods to fix that

Really needs more content and the mods aren't enough but otherwise was interesting the first time, at least.

Wish they'd do a sequel.

Cool, thanks. I might grab it when it's on sale or something then. Do you know anywhere that has decent mods for it?

I don't know about worth the money but the combat is GOAT. Even though it's text only descriptions. Melee combat sequences are some of the most intense I've seen in a game, very brutal

fun game, but the UI is so brutal that I just can't play it for long.

>hexes
Absolutely disgusting

Be sure to save-scum like a piece of shit because shit gets CRUEL

Lol yeah I must admit I kind of like the look of it though. Guess I like to suffer :)

>stranger kicks you on the ground
>you pass out due to unbearable pain
>stranger loots your body
>you died due to internal bleeding
>it is now morning
>game over
You gotta love the end of your character logs

RNG was too fucking dumb to be any fun. Many runs I started and ended naked because none of the surrounding buildings had any good clothing or tools.
Combat is basically pointless, even if you have combat traits you'll still take far too much damage for it to be worth it vs just fleeing.
UI is terrible, crafting is a chore, and inventory management is like RE4 but worse.
I really want to like thw game but its full of BS that kills all fun for me.

Yeah crazy how quick you just lose it all as well. In the playthrough I posted (youtu.be/MG3Yc0ddoEY) the guy is playing solidly for an hour and then just gets his ass handed to him in a single fight

It's fun until you get to the city then it's bland. They really should have reworked the end game.

Well I think the constant chance of things turning pretty fucking quickly fits the atmosphere of the game very well. Really makes you think twice about charging at that guy with only a stick in your hand.

I just installed the game like two days ago.
>died 8 times so far in pursuit of the "glow" in the east.
>mostly due to bad starts where I die frozen and starving because the game didn't feel like giving me any clothes or food.
>finally make it to the city. sell my piles of scavenged bullets and get $1300 Detroit dollarydoos.
>stroll around the city, feel like I might finally be able to make some real progress
>remember that I accidentally ate some poison berries a few turns ago.
>oh shit, run to the clinic and pay out the ass for the full treatment
>health doesn't stop dropping even after all the procedures
>still die
I'm fucking livid.

The game is not about making it as far as you can but more about surviving as long as you can. Also in like 99% of the times the game drops you into an event that gives you a sleeping bag when the first night comes close. The sleeping bag saves you from freezing, just sleep in it or use rest and heal if you are getting to cold. Don't forget you have to put your sleeping bag out of your inventory and into your campsite to use it

It's excellent and easily worth the money, but it really makes you wish it had more content. The dude that made it is making some different game instead of a sequel which is a damn shame because Neo Scavenger is one of my favorites.

I hate that it doesn't really go anywhere. Needed more of an ending.

It's not worth the money, it's only fun for the start of the game, it really doesn't have any depth, there's one dominiant strategy

>The game is not about making it as far as you can but more about surviving as long as you can.
You can survive indefinitely once you have the right set of tools, the only thing that can fuck you over is bad RNG at the start

Was it just one guy that made it??

Pretty much, I think he might've had some art nerds or something but it was pretty much a one man show I believe.
