Tell me, why you no play mages in videos games?

Tell me, why you no play mages in videos games?
What is your pathetic excuse?

Because blue mages are only in a small handful of games.

Becuase mages as powerful as fuck artificers holed up in their wizard tower is cool as shit

Mages wandering around as adventurers is shitty

Dark mages are better

because the mage mechanics for most games is to stand in one place and wait for a loading bar to fill to deal damage

This. It's the reason why it took me years before I found a game that did magic well to realize that I loved playing mages.

Honestly, because I like the speed and challenge from playing a thief.

what game?

get that pussy ass magic from here berserker thread only now

Virtual girls dig virtual muscles

But I DO play mages. Magic is always the superior option.

Because I don't like glorified archers.
When a mage acts like a mage it's great.
Magicka, Diablo 2, Vindictus, Dragon's Dogma...
And still, no game I know can replicate the absolute power of a high fantasy magician.

I love mages though.

Because mages are never satisfying enough for me to play. I am fixing this by making my own game though.

nox was pretty good

because most of the time it's just spam one spell because it's the strongest/most efficient thing you have and everything else is useless.
If a mage plays like an archer, I may as well just play as an archer because they usually have more going for them.

That's a stupid reason, not all games treat mages like yet another DPS, most of the times mages are about controlling the battlefield not just sniping people with spells, which they can also do anyway, in some games mages can even tank
personally I believe any class can be fun to play as long as they put time and effort in doing it fun.

Shit magic systems and a lack of awesome wizard hats.

Post interesting and/or fun magic mechanics
I'll start
>after every magic spell cast, you get to cast another spell instantly

I don't like active magic and almost all mages are nothing but active magic. I like passive magic and ritual casts with long term effects. I'll take a static +1 over and active +5 any day.

I do most of the time but I have a problem keeping myself alive as a caster since I tend to get too stuck in.

Also I have yet to find a magic system that feels right.
I hate Vancian magic because fuck that noise.
I hate MMORPG magic because fuck standing around looking at loading bars.
I was ok with Dragons Dogma magic but there were too few spells and I couldn't use them all without going back to the Inn to swap out skills.
I loved Magickas magic system but I found it hard to remember all the spell combinations and I tend to just end up spamming the same spells over and over.

I tend to just play Berserker-type classes since it matches up with my natural playstyle and I don't feel so shit when I die.

I dont see mages doing much unless its a heavily action game
You guys are boring turbo nerds
I prefer you over healers though

Whats the difference between mage and a wizard?

Same thing, wizard is gender specific tho

>Spells interact with each other besides the basic freeze them and smash with rock.

>You can create your own spells but it's dangerous and it could have a completely different effect than what you wanted, forcing people to work together and pool their knowledge to master spellcrafting.
