What video game has the worst shotgun?

What video game has the worst shotgun?

Every single shotgun in the STALKER games. The over and under was pretty alright from what I can recall but every single other one was utter shit.

Halo series.

delet this

Pic not related.

Seriously was the most effective gun in the game.

>Hear portal opening
>Run over to the giant glowing circle
>Wait for imp to spawn
>Shotgun in face
>Repeat

That formula worked for 99% of the game.

half life 2's shotgun is so unsatisfying

I remember the first time I got the shotgun in D3, i test fired it and was immediately disappointed. It just feels like shit to shoot, regardless of how effective it is.

it only 1 shotted if you were behind them

This, desu.

Which was easy as shit to do because most of the enemies in the game just warped in.

That just goes to show how shitty all of the guns were if the shitty shotgun was the best of the lot

FUCK DOOM 3

I quite like this shotty right up there with the FEAR shotty.

But I prefer the shotties from RE7, gotta give it to capcom, that was an amazing weapon selection.

Quake's shotgun was piss poor.

Your shotgun deals no damage past 2 meters. It's shit.

Of course it's effective if you spawnkill the enemies with it.

But you only get that one-hit kill on imps if you're literally within their melee range. Literally, the length of their arm is approximately the distance needed for the spread of the shotgun to decrease the damage enough to require an extra shot. If you fire at a wall that's only a few steps away, you'll see the spread is already enormous. The shotgun does almost zero damage if you're not touching the enemy.

I use the shotgun in Doom 3 because the other weapons are just as awful, and because it is sometimes nice to have a one-hit kill, but in order to get that one-hit kill, you basically have to shove the barrel halfway into the enemy's asshole and you still might not be close enough.

The incredibly bad range makes it an objectively bad shotgun, perhaps the worst I've ever seen. Also, the sound effect is pitiful.

Which Quake, and which shotgun? The pump action was pretty good, actually.

>You have to shove the barrel halfway into the enemy's asshole
Which is no problem because of the time it takes them to even start engaging you after teleporting in.

They drop in, they screech and do a big animation, and then attack. You've got like a good second after they warp in, which means even IF you fuck up you'll get the second shot off before they even turn to face you much less swipe/charge up a fireball.

Nah, it's more an emphasis of how bad the game design was for Doom, always having to bring enemies rather than having them natively in the map.

None of this makes it a good shotgun. You're just describing how the enemies easy to kill even with a bad shotgun. They could have made the enemies less braindead and given us a decent shotgun to compensate for it.

Except within the confines of the game's design, it IS a good shotgun because it gets results despite being an early weapon, and gets up taking precedence over later weapons for the majority of the game.

Is it not as great as other game shotguns? Fuck no. But within the game itself, it's everything it needs to be. It's quick, it's effective, and it's useful for the majority of the game's runtime.

Shadow Warrior 2013 shotgun.
Seriously, that shit even when fully upgraded and beign fired in close range somehow manages to miss almost all of it's pellets.
What the fuck were they thinking

Was it just me, or did the game only ever allow like 3 enemies at a time?

I'm not sure whether it was an engine or console limitation but yeah something was holding that game back design wise.

X shotgun of your choice from any multiplayer FPS.
