Also, this game is fucking amazing, playing through on the PS4 right now and it's been a really fucking long time since a game hit that sweet spot of difficulty and anxiety, but this one definitely does it for me.
I had to play with the weird control scheme where you move with the right analog stick, apparently both my controllers' left stick are broken.

I never got to participate in those threads, what were they like?

I kind of prefer 2/OTR more because survivor AI is greatly improved, but I agree in that the first game peaked in terms of plot and controls, with DR4 changing so much it feels almost unrecognizable
Justin Clark
I just played through it on PC on p decent mid-tier rig (i5 7500, RX480, 16gb RAM) and it hard crashed for me probably once every two hours, absolutely infuriating. The sound would cut out, I'd keep moving for half a second, then it would freeze and lock all inputs. No apparent cause, I'd just be walking around. Kept fucking happening and the only documentation I could find was people who
1. Had no audio, period from startup or 2. Crashed on launch.
I finished the game but I lost tons of progress way too many times to even consider going back to get the megabuster and 100% it. Anyone else experience this problem or am I just fucked?

It really is sad that this series went the way that it did.
Words can not describe how much I hate the anti-time limit fags that ruined this series. Like how do you hate something that literately defined the game? You take away the time mechanics(and psychopaths and survivors etc) and what do you have? A very bland and forgettable game.
This series is the shining example of casuals ruining something great.
Lucas Reed
>Only just played the game this year >Barely any chances to discuss the game, despite it being one of my favorite experiences from this year
I did play the Wii version for a few days when it came out, but I think we can all agree to disregard that.
Hunter Bell
I hate when people assume everything that is a slight inconvenience to be a design flaw, there's literally nothing wrong with Dead Rising as a game and I can't think of a single second in it that I was bored.
Nathaniel Green
>Words can not describe how much I hate the anti-time limit fags that ruined this series I only started the series this year and I love the time limit. Without it, the game would be mediocre at best. I have -0% interest in DR4 coming to the PS4 this year.
The worst part about time limit fags is that you can literally just save the game, dick around for a little bit, and load again if you wanted to.
You could even spend an entire playthrough dicking around and start the game over with a more powerful character when you're ready to do the story line.
Leo Lee
>Literally an indecipherable one word meme post Dead Rising 2 fags in a nutshell everybody.

They don't care about that, they care just see that they got a game over and then REEEE because they lost.
David Rivera
It could have done with a mite bit less survivors getting caught on walls, or randomly stopping to punch a zombie in the tits, to be absolutely fair.
Also would have liked if the safe room moved once or twice over the course of the game, maybe with optional missions to clear out a secondary hideout opposite paradise plaza to make things easier for yourself, but only if you managed to find time to spare.
Daniel Sanchez
That's from DR1 though?
I know right? They need to accept that they can also just start over again with no real issue. The game isn't long and you keep your level after resetting. It was designed like that and worked.
This article does a good job of conveying some of my feelings about Dead Rising. Mainstream gamers just weren't ready for what it was trying to do, and it hasn't been done as well ever since.
Carter Stewart
I see RE4 and DR1 as "similar" in a way. Both play very uncomfortably but beat out later entries because of how rewarding they feel to master.
Benjamin Rodriguez
this game was always fucking S+ tier. man, i remember playing it on the xbox 360 all the way back in 2006 and struggling so hard to play it, then discovering the hidden katana and uzi and that made game a little easier, still got my ass kicked and had to replay the game a ton of times due to missing deadlines or dying to bosses.
the difficulty of the game is gone now, since i know about using adams chainsaws and the construction books, but damn this game was an experience.
Jose Lee
I'm not going to bother looking up what you're referring to because I don't want to ruin the fun of the game for myself.
I agree on the getting stuck on walls and whatnot, but I look at all of the other game's "flaws" as quirks that you have to learn in order to master the game. One of my favorite parts about playing a new game is getting progressively better at it by learning the ins and outs of the mechanics, rather than getting upgrades that make the game easier like you would in other games.
Ryan Brooks
>It could have done with a mite bit less survivors getting caught on walls, or randomly stopping to punch a zombie in the tits, to be absolutely fair. It funny, for as many flaws as this game has, it was still more entertaining than a lot of recent games for me.
Ryder Collins
Basically trying out all the big bugs like playing the whole game in one sitting just to see if it crashed. Plenty of HD screenshots too. It was comfy.
Robert Rodriguez
Is the PS4 version good? Only one I have access to.
Christian Myers
My nigga. Resident Evil 4 is another one of my favorite games. You should check out Hotline Miami if you haven't already played it.
Daniel Nguyen
Idk about you but I loved dead rising two minigames. Pissed me off having to get medicine every twenty four hours or whatever, sometimes I just wanna take pictures of tits and kill zombies.

OP here, haven't had any technical issues so far, maybe a slight and momentary frame drop when using certain weapons (like the soccer ball) on a large crowd of enemies.
I also hit the center pad almost every single time I shake the analog stick to get a zombo off of me, which brings up the map on the ps4 version, but it's not a huge deal and it's probably my fault for being such a spaz.

Not even close to remotely true unless you try to argue that it's the best on that console, but even that's pretty debatable.

The second one wasn't bad tbqh, but I always preferred the maps on this one and the space only maps/missions were ass.

The best game? As in the piece of interactive media with the most enjoyable mechanics, gameplay, and pacing in the series? It's really a toss up between RE 4 and REmake, though I'll admit that RE 4 doesn't feel like a Resident Evil game at all.
I also prefer Resident Evil 2 over the first one, but that's only because REmake exists. If there was no REmake then I would prefer the first one over the second.
Angel Howard
Literally every MGS game is better than the one that preceded it up until MGS 4.
Henry Cook
You are absolutely right.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus online was definitely comfy and fun.
Cooper Sanchez
Anybody who disagrees with this should be gassed.

Even without considering the expansions, Half-Life still remains the better title.
What other games let you view the same story/setting through the perspectives of different characters? Decay and a mod called Point of View (which expands upon the idea in Decay's secret mission, letting you play through a campaign as a vortigaunt) are two others.
Carter Ramirez
>tried playing it earlier this year >dogshit AI made me quit I kinda regret it, but then I remember how fucking bad it was.
Cooper Jenkins
I agree The maps were amazing Bespin Cloud City Tatooine Dune Sea Endor Naboo Plains And even more
And the AI Jedi were terrifying to run into
Leo Perez
It gets a lot easier once you quit being a fucking casual and git gud.
Tyler Nelson
The maps in the first are vastly superior and it does some cooler things in galactic conquest like giving the ability to destroy a planet as empire after so many consecutive victories. Mobility in 2 and having a complete storyline for clone wars was definitely better but the maps took a hit.
Austin Ortiz
See, you'd have an argument if my competency was transferable to the AI, but as the game stands, that shit is a glaring flaw. All I can do is make up for that flaw, and that may make for more engaging, challenging gameplay, but should that really excuse the game's fault?
Logan White
>and that may make for more engaging, challenging gameplay >but should that really excuse the game's fault?
>fault >more engaging, challenging gameplay
In all seriousness, I will admit the pathfinding is fucking garbage, but you can mitigate most of the game's horseshit by setting waypoints and providing cover for them as they advance instead of expecting them to follow you and making sure you have a gun and a good crowd clearing weapon with you at all times.
Carson Thomas
>the absolute joy arming the Japanese tourists with katanas gave me while we hacked the clown down like true ronin

Poor Jet Set Radio. All it needed in a sequel was some tweaking of the scoring mechanics and to fix up the collision detection so half-pipe jumps weren't as fucked but instead we got a sequel that stripped out everything great about the first game in favour of a boring collectathon with no challenge.
