The only other memorable game made by Pandemic Games.
Does anybody remember this game?
yeah
I remember seeing reviews of it on X-Play but never actually played it.
Quite a different game for its time. Before the rise of CoD 4 and spunkgargleweewee
>only other memorable game made by Pandemic Games
>What is Mercenaries, SW Battlefront, The Saboteur
By other game I was referring to SW Battlefront.
All the other games I couldn't give less of a shit about, like their BF LoTR game.
>still doesnt work on modern windows
I have it on Steam and it runs fine Windows 10 Creators Update
I poured hundreds of hours on this on my ps2 years ago, so yeah, It's a very unique and engaging game sad that the port is apparently shit.
FSW was originally intended as a training simulator, but the game was made just before the army's methods for CQB were completely overhauled to emphasize moving through buildings in an urban environment. So it's pretty funny playing this game and being forced to brute force your way through a kill zone with suppressing fire when IRL with just a squad sized element you would get the fuck out of there 90% of the time. The missions in this game would be tackled by a platoon sized element AT THE VERY LEAST.
Also I think it's weird how the squad leader is an omnipresent force represented by the player's camera. The game would probably work better as a squad leader simuator if it played more like GRAW and actually had to control a guy.
Basically, I think this game could have been a lot more realistic with (much) more open maps, more friendly elements, and maybe more flexibility with the orders, it could have actually been very realistic and effective. Falls short, though.
t. army man
Ten Hammers added a bit more flexibility to the squad based system and vehicles but yeah it does get a bit silly. Where each level has a couple dozen insurgents and 2 fire teams manage to clear out the place.
>murder 4 guys
>mission objective: continue patrol
holy shit lmao, not even a radio call
>2nd mission
>Take path to the right
>Heavy stationary machine gun blocking access to the marketplace
>Take a detour through another alley.
>Take cover behind garbage skip.
>Loses Grenadier through a micrometre gap.
Biggest bullshit mechanics in a simulator game.
A GPMG would annihilate a dumpster if it knew there was a guy behind it.
You can shoot through most cover pretty effectively if you know what's behind it.
>The only other memorable game made by Pandemic Games.
>Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2
>Mercenaries
>Destroy All Humans 1 & 2
>The Saboteur
>Not memorable
KYS
Pretty sure you can't shoot through 30cm of steel pal.
>30cm of steel
lmao what the fuck kind of 30 ton dumpsters do you deal with? A dumpster is like 12 gauge steel, it would be under a cm of total steel to shoot through. .308 or 7.62x54r would tear straight through multiple layers of it
Considering that bullets don't make an exit mark on the other side confirms my point.
wtf are you talking about
if you hunkered down behind some cheesy ass dumpster and I lit your ass up with a 240 or a PKM your ass would be grass
>Available on GoG
>Doesn't work on modern OS's
Pick one and only one
I was referring to ingame mechanics. Doesn't matter if you just ran down a minefield with machine guns blazing at you then you won't die as long as your 'danger' meter doesn't fill up. I had a foot poking over the dge and one of my men got shot.
