When did you realize you're getting too old for video games?
When did you realize you're getting too old for video games?
If I make it to sixty (I won't), I'll be gaming. I don't give a fuck.
not too old for video games.. but
you play MUCH less when you get older. you don't dedicate hours to finishing a whole game
Just been watching more movies than playing vidya.
Video games are the future of entertainment because going outside has become too expensive.
When I realized pic related and filename.
I've been too old for life for at least 10 years.
I'm still young enough for vidya.
I play multiplayer games much more often nowadays because I don't feel like investing a bunch of time into a long ass single player game.
didja ask that 100 some year old lady about her video game playing yet?
>It's a twenty three year old makes a thread about being "le tired and jaded former gaymer" episode
It's not that I'm too old for games, I'm just too intelligent to waste time on what today's market thinks is a "game".
I'm 31 and still playing lotsa vidya. I don't play too much modern AAA shit though. Mainly Nintendo games. The rest retro and indie stuff.
when they stopped being fun

>When did you realize you're getting too old for video games?
Only someone truly retarded thinks that you're ever too old for videogames. It's like saying you're "too old" for movies and books.
>Tekken 7
>Sonic Mania
>Mario Odyssey
>N. Sane Trilogy
>Cuphead
>BOTW
>Splatoon 2
>RE7
>DBFZ soon
Yeah fuck off your epic burnt out depression is exclusive to you, don't try to pretend it's an age thing or that I have to feel it too.
why don't you go to /vr/ then?
This, i start a game and uninstall it quickly if it doesnt grab me, i have a backlog of games and new shit slways being released. i have lots of free to time and dont need to work at all, besides gaming i play Pokerstars
when I got a job and fun became a distant memory
When people shit on quality games without thinking of the long-term consequences.
tfw too intelligent for bideo gaymes
>implying I'm not here just to waste while waiting there finally being some new posts on /vr/
There are better ways to waste time though. Like playing games.
I only play RPGs or quick moba type team based games.
I can't do run and gun games anymore, they don't seem to reward me in the same way. If the game doesn't have an engaging campaign I feel like it's a waste of my time why are I gonna waste 8 hours of my life for an okay story for because the gameplay is "fun"?
Wow I shot some people, I got the most kills. Big deal
When I felt like going back to playing MMOs and realized everything went shit and players are completely ok with optional casualized pvp and microtransactions, as long as the graphics look good.
I also realized I don't have enough time to enjoy these games anyway.
I miss 2004's Tibia.
When I stopped wanting to play games that had microtransactions in them
When I realized my motivation for everything on this fucking world was gone.
I don't understand how anyone thinks Arms is fun or that Splatoon is worth more than 20 dollars. I also really don't have hype for the new Mario.
This too. Sometimes I miss playing online games, but playing 8+ hours a game feels like a waste of time. I'd rather use these 8 hours to work or read something.
When chronic health issues start affecting the way I play games.
When I see unironic call of duty and halo threads here.
The only way you can be too old for video games is if your body physically cannot handle playing them anymore. Blindness, paralysis, dementia, etc.
How can you still be entertained by nintendo games at 31, you simpleton.
When I found out that having your eyes at looking a fixed focal point for hours on end can damage your sight. It made me worry if its the "we should not put lead in everything" of our generation.
Actually games are recommended for people with dementia and paralysis as therapy.
fucking shit dude...
great more things to be super paranoid about
fuck you user
>be kid
>play vidya all day
>dream of being an adult with money being able to buy any vidya and play vidya all day
>grow up
>people tell me i have responsbilities now and there's no time for vidya
>go to college, get a gf, try to be normal adult
>get depressed
>drop out of college
>get decent job
>play vidya all day
>society shuns me but finally happy
the trick is to never grow up
When I started being concerned with how the employees and community is treated by a said developer. I.E. Naughty Dog - I wanted to play Uncharted, but their approach in both facets is bad.
I'm not too old, just too depressed to enjoy them anymore. Sometimes I want to play a game, but it's just too much trouble to start playing it and even if I do, I just get tired after a while and quit.
>play harmless platformer
>get 10 minutes in
>little voice tells me "you know, you could be doing some work right now, or having sex, or learning a new skill"
>realize he's right and turn it off
...
Most VITA games are older than the userbase of Sup Forums.
When I visit this board and see a bunch of sad people talking about people playing video games instead of playing the games themselves. Youtubers in general.
this mostly
>open Sup Forums
>do neither of those things
>doesn't shitpost while at work
This.
>tfw procrastinating from playing video games
>tfw video games used to be my procrastination
>at work
>working
>same thing
You want to do the Focus Change one in this picture for every 20 minutes of computer or handheld console usage.
as far as my pay stubs are considered, if I'm at work I'm working.
>tfw 2poor for a non-toaster computer
>new games chug like a slav at vodka factory
You know what you like and I like you for it
When I finished high school i lost almost all of my friends. And I did it each time I was changing school. I feel like they are useless if I'm not with them in class. They have shit taste in games, books and vidya and talk about boring shit all the time. They were useful only to tell me about homework and stuff.
And since I finished high school I started to play more and try more complex strategy games. They are so fun, i can play them for houndres of hours and pay almost nothing.
I will never get too old for vidya.
>realize you're getting too old for video games
Started in my last year of high school. Fully realized when I started college. My work load is so enormous between studies, job, gym, gf. When it comes to down time, video games feel so inadequate. I feel like every minute I spend playing games is a minute wasted on something more important. I'm still interested in the industry and reading reviews, but I find that I spend just minutes playing games now when I used to spend hours.
Just answered your own question. It's simple and mindless.
Better question, what other medium or activity provides anywhere near the amount of story telling, creativity, logic, humor, or challenge that video games do?
The moment I started to think how I am wasting my time playing video games instead of doing something productive, so i turn it off and procrastinate instead of playing them.
You should try to design a culture based off of making and playing/watching new video games/anime.
When I turned 13.
Unless it's something I can just plug and play I rarerly bother with video games anymore.
I just don't feel like wasting too much time setting myself into them
So yesterday?
Almost 30 here.
Not too old for games as a whole, but certainly too old for specific types of games. And my tolerence threshold for bullshit is a lot lower.
Time is a huge deal now. Long games are out. Any 40 hour JRPG is out. Any game that boasts "HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF CONTENT!!!" is right the fuck out.
If you tell me "This game is good, but it's only 10-20 hours long", I'm on that shit. That's my jam.
I just can't deal with 80 hour slogfests anymore.
Or skinner boxes.
Or anything proceduralyl generated.
And when I play a game, I want to PLAY a fucking GAME. If the first line in your advertisement is about the story, you can fuck right off.
I didn't. Genuine passion for art is never outgrown.
I'm playing Cuphead and I'm pretty terrible at it. My reflexes are not what they used to be.
It's still a fun experience though, even if I'm shit. I love the whole aesthetic of it and I'm happy to support indie devs.
What do you do instead? Go for a quaint jog? Weave a basket? Abuse substance?
I'm almost 25 (and own a PC) and one thing i just can't stand anymore is watching this youtuber/twitch faggots with their face plastered on a gameplay video making grands out of his underage userbase watching them. I used to be one of them, but as i grow up it got really cingry to watch them. Even the only ones i rarely see JimSterling/Tatotalbiscuit are getting really boring to watch.
Nowdays i just type "no commentary" to see a small portition of a game it seems to interest me.
Also, it's been almost one year and a half since i stopped playing LoL or any other multiplayer game. I mostly play Underrail, Grim Dawn and Total Warhammer.

According to the normie, you are too old for video games as soon as you're old enough to play all of them.
Wizard here. Good man, we'll be proud to have you.
What about the
>you must be a creepy pedo to play that
games?
When I discovered that there are and more games coming out that I don't care about.
Which is especially noticable when I check youtube videos and I see these reviewers being all excited about these things while I honestly couldn't care less.
So I find myself revisiting the past much more, though not really enjoying it as I used to.
At this point I guess I'm just reveling in the memories.
i stopped lol and wow in like 2012 or 2013
i tried to go back but couldn't find it fun anymore
i think its more that, we played these games so much and now they are repackaged and worse these days
i want some new shit, like dark cloud 3, but they probably would ruin it. i see some new stuff that is fun, like im enjoying golf story and i can't wait for dbz fighters. its just shit like uncharted: tits edition i could care less about.
If Sup Forumsutists can watch same waifu\idol baits every season at 30+ — Sup Forumsirgins definitely can play games till the moment when their hands get way too shaky to get a hold on contoller mouse and keyboard. "I am too old for this now" is a degenerate way of thinking, hobbies are ageless.
>tfw no autistic furfag gf
>tfw no wizard bf
I don't feel like I'm close to that time yet but I do feel like my tastes and those of the current people when it comes to vidya are dramatically drifting apart, and I dread the day where nothing ever comes out that caters to me.
It's less that I'm too old for games, and more that my taste in games is changing as I get older.
Some games I used to enjoy, I can no longer stand.
Other games that bring me joy, I used to find dull and boring.
Around 2010/2011 that's where I felt videogames weren't made for people like me any more. I'm just glad I've seen the golden age.
I'm nearing 28 and I still dedicate tremendous amounts of time to games. I can't finish all the games I want to because there are more games now and they are easier to get.
Not because I grew out of it or have less time to play.
When I would start a good game, but couldn't play it for more than 30 minutes at a time.
I wonder if a 70 year old man looks at a 50 year old man and thinks "wow he looks like a little kid"

At 23 I'm more worried about realizing I'm going nowhere in my life than playing video games. I've decided to mostly set them to the side, and try to soak my brain in knowledge. My opinion on video games hasn't changed since I was 2 years old. Nintendo games are still fun as fuck, and I want Odyssey badly. I love JRPGs like Persona 5. I like a ton of shit. The only thing I grew out of is the mainstream type of shooter games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, and 99 of multiplayer games in general. Played those when I was in my early teens.
As I get older I feel that it's not that I'm enjoying games less, it's that my tastes are getting more specific and a game has to really nail what I want/like to draw me in, it has to show me something new that's awesome, or something I already love.
But what's better than video games, maybe you should make a video game.
What if you made a video game that nailed your specific taste?
When I skipped out on getting an Nintendo Switch and just don't give a god damn fuck about getting an Xbox One X. Don't give a crap about getting a marked down Xbox One either.
All of this new SHIT being streamed and all I do is watch old retro games on the retro channel on Twitch.
The Xbox 360 and the PS3 were the last of my hey day. Now I got a PS4 and can only play for an hour before I just wanna CUT THAT SHIT OFF and continue watching games being streamed on Twitch.
21-36 year olds would love a game that nailed my specific tastes. It'd sell like, 100k, and be hailed as a gem, and called complete shit and nostalgic trash by people out of the age range.
I am not really interested in making games. I want to make something more out of myself.
When I bought the Wii U and never played it.
That was in 2013 so I'd have been 19.
You've definitely though a lot about it, do you think younger people's taste is better or worse? If you think it's worse why do you think they don't understand your taste and what do you think you can do to make them see why your taste is better? Are you sure you're not shit?
>called complete shit and nostalgic trash by people out of the age range.
Sadly the current majority, as far as I can tell from my own experience. I feel you...
>Started P5 in May
>Finished it last month
Now I understand the "games are too long" maymay.
Multiplayer games are filled with teenagers and children, you're literally retarded.
>too old
no such thing.
what is happening is you have way too much free time and choose to spend it only on videogames.
you are getting burned out subconciously.
all you need to do is take some breaks or find something else to do.
or you know actually get a job that affords you enough free time for vidya but not enough to overexpose you.
>he doesn't have friends
lmao
its because every modern videogame is predictable, padded, and riddled with shit design choices and the same old tired mechanics with the depth of a puddle and if you're playing a game for its story you're a fucking idiot and you might as well watch a no commentary lp its why i never understand why anyone would waste their time with a jrpg
>GO PLAY HAT IN TIME
yeah ill get right on spending 5 hrs in amateur buggy shoddy floaty mario sunshine clone with a gimmick scooter
>GO PLAY CUPHEAD
oh great another fucking 2d game with the same mechanics every fucking 2d game has had before it but with a quirky 30's artstyle
>GO PLAY DARK SOULS / BLOODBORNE
and mash r1 and press dodge occasionally
I want to but I can't.
I am quite literally addicted to gaming.
I haven't been able to play anything but mobileshit because both my PS4 and PC are being serviced since the past 2 months
And I am beginning to lose my fucking mind.I am also a literal chainsmoker and smoke about 10 cigarretes a day and even then I don't crave cigarretes more than I crave an hour of gaming.
I just want to play some fucking bloodborne sony why does it take so long to replace a PS4
I fucking swear they have a lawsuit coming at them if I go looney
I think it's that we've already played all there is to play so nothing really feels exciting and new. When we were younger games were something new and fresh and we had fun learning them. Now that we've experience it all they are no longer as fun
As much as I liked p5 I know this feel. If I have 2 hours a night to play a game a 100 hour game is going to take me like 2 months to finish if I play it EVERY chance I get.
