My friend wants me to download Warframe, because its a "great game." I dont want to download it soley because its free to play. He refuses to shut up about it. Convince me to get it, or prove him wrong.

As far as my opinion goes, Warframe has a really neat setting and aesthetic, but it's only going to be a "great game" if you're willing to accept that progression is entirely based around grind.

The game is a boring grindfest. Rather than making the game more interesting, or giving the player more things to do, the developers have instead focused on making the player do the same thing, just an increasing number of times.

It's free, so there is literally no harm in downloading it just to try it. This way you show that you value your friend's opinions but if it turns out you don't like it you can then provide actual valid reasons for avoiding it.

It's not hard to not be a shit friend

It's a free to play game with farmville tier crafting, enjoy waiting anywhere from three days to a week to craft certain warframes, not counting the resource cost as well as having to obtain the blueprints in the first place.

It's all horizontal progression tho

The gameplay is the most fun you'll have in a video game, the grind is fucking awful and pretty much the only thing holding back warframe

The hardest part of Warframe is getting situated in the early game. Not hardest, more accurate to say frustratingly obtuse. The progression and prioritization is very poorly explained and the game basically throws it's hands up and says ask someone for help. But once you get situated it's pretty enjoyable for a grindfest. Lots of game modes to farm and it even has atrociously balanced PVP!
Some of the bosses are still just filler though. They often lose sight of what needs fixing and focus on some new bullshit for you to farm.

I've logged in 20 solo hours over the past 3 days, it's pretty fun. No reason to get destiny 2 on PC with this thing on the market.

How is the new open world stuff they added?

I played it to the point I hate it, few hundred hours. Unless the new open world stuff is ground breaking it's pretty much doa once destriny 2 comes to pc.

Didn't they just add endgame stuff or is it more fluff? I quit because there was fuck all to do once you had your gear apart form grind other shit you don't even need.

It's a great game if you love to grind. Unlike in your typical korean mmo tho, grinding in warframe can be pretty fun because of the weapon and frame variety. You don't have to pay for anything and you can farm pretty much anything that isn't purely cosmetic. Latest updated added a nice open world setting to the game, made me play it again after about a year of cryosleep.

It's a great in between game. If you play it exclusively, you can overdose on the grind but it take pretty long to get there. Try that shit out, well worth it for a free game imo.

I say check it out. I've played destiny 2 beta and I don't feel like playing it anymore or buying it. Game feels really different in a open world setting, but I personally like it.

I did actually start downloading it, until I realized it was 17 Gb. Then I stopped.

>Even though there are a lot of classes about half of them does about the same thing as the other just better/worse depending on the frame

The gameplay is fine, but honestly the game is just never going to be actually good because all there is to do in the game is grind.
Every single level is randomly generated and because of this they all feel the same. Every mission plays out almost exactly the same. Your only motivation to play and keep playing is to grind for more stuff.

Also the balance in the game is and always has been fucked. Early on is too easy but at least everything is viable. Later on almost nothing is viable to the point that you're forced to run through levels as fast as possible or get 1 shotted by even a weak as fuck grunt. There is basically no in between.

I started 3 days ago and I never thought I'd be having this much fun with the game. Almost got rhino warframe.

It's not really an open world. It's basically just an open level where various missions take place. You cannot just go into it and do whatever you want with other people, it's still instanced and limited to 4 players and you can only access it during missions.

If you like grindy games (which there's nothing wrong with) then yeah, it's good. The main issue is Warframe is lacking an endgame at the moment. PoE definitely wasn't the endgame we were expecting, especially since bounties/eidolons give little to no standing and standing grinding is the absolute worst.

actual stat progression is neat if you dump a one time cost for -75% plat
tone and Aesthetic are top tier

all progression is horizontal, so you dont NEED that stupid-rare piece of gear to function

stats are bonkers at higher end, you'll be oneshotting things well into high lvl 140s if you set up well, but untill then it'll feel like a slog

it has merit and is worth doing, but you just gotta come to grips with the fact that when you set something to cook in the 3d printer it'll be 12-72 hours before its done, and thats just life

This is false as fuck. You absolutely do need a good weapon and warframe to do end game content. On top of this this weapon and warframe require many upgrades. Then you need a lot of rare mods which all need upgrading with endo too.

You sure as shit are not killing level 100+ enemies unless you've grinded the fuck out of a whole bunch of stuff and upgraded it all.

Progression in Warframe is almost entirely vertical. You absolutely need certain things to progress after a certain point and these things are only obtainable with insane grind (or insane money).

The Hek is a mastery 4 weapon that only needs an augment and common raw damage mods to blast level 100+ enemies, progression isn't that hard.

This game is nothing but dogshit. Seriously everything in it is bad. It's made for the type of monkeys who have zero skill in video games and seek no other stimulation from a medium than skinner box "rewards", they're happy with beating completely helpless props called enemies and just want to unlock shit forever and ever and nothing else matters. This shit is lower in my eyes than match 3 phone games for soccer moms.

It may not be the game for you. But hey it also might. Shocker!

you need a baseline of functional platform to do okay in end game, but theres a shit ton of stuff that'll work, and a few casual baby options if you just need it handed to you - mods are your actual progression, and by the time it becomes relevent, you'll be soaked in enough options for a ton of builds

And to get that augment you need to grind for weeks just to reach the required rank needed to purchase it.
You also need to donate a lot of items and money including two items that aren't all that common and have many uses.

Literally just run one fissure mission and get 5 junk items or potentially cut down that time by getting a rare drop, which will instantly pay for the augment and more. If you can't seperate 25 minutes of your day for one fissure mission then I don't know what will please you.

I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone, it has some solid mechanics and an interesting setting, but since the only driving motivation to keep playing is grinding most of those mechanics are wasted and the experience gets old rather quick, I quit earlier this year, came back for the new update, quit again, I realized this game won't change.
