I am convinced that if this franchise wasn't primarily exclusive to Xbox consoles this board would give it the rightful recognition that it deserves. These games were phenomenal.

Gears 3 horde mode is the most fun I had in multiplayer games, it was so fucking comfy spending evenings playing it with a friend

The multiplayer is a great casual filter. Especially the 1 life only per round modes like execution. Its no surprise why this series declined in popularity once CoDlike shooters became popular and then eventually crap like Overwatch.

I agree. Nothing was more satisfying than poppig some prick with your Gnasher during an intense fight but the shotgun inconsistency had me at my wits end. I had to stop playing online after awhile because of it.

If you played LAN enough it eliminates all online bullshit. Gears 3 in particular is absolute perfection when playing it with no online lag issues and barring use of the weapons that sort of throw balance off like retro lancer and saw off shotgun. Although I still like the addition of those guns overall.

It already gets the recognition it deserves in that nobody gives a shit.

I've only played the first one but it didn't impress me. Probably didn't help that I played Resident Evil 4 a month before Gears came out. Wasn't really impressed that the third person shooter on my next gen (at the time) 360 was nowhere near as good as the one I just played on my PS2. Never payed attention to the series after that.

Gears 3 was the pinnacle of the series and couldnt be matched since. As pussy as it was, the SoS was the shit.

Gear is the only online game I still play. Skill ceiling is higher than people realise

This. Getting buddies together to play gears 3 on LAN was amazing. Retro lancer is still my waifu. And busting the balls of the last person to die in a round, getting punched to death.

Like I said I like those weapons. They probably should have been map pick up weapons though just like hammerburst was for the first game. Clearly they wouldn't be as powerful as the boomshot, sniper and digger so they would have been placed in locations like in gears 1 where it is easier to grab.

Was never a big fan of the campaigns, but I consistently fucking loved the multiplayer from 1 through 3, even during the worst times of 2 with the smoke grenades being obnoxious as shit I still had loads of fun and must've logged well over a thousand hours across the series. Never did touch Judgment which I heard very mixed personal reviews of but I know I'd love to try 4 after all of these years. Too bad it's being held hostage by the worst parts of M$. I refuse to downgrade to W10 and I'm not buying a bone for a single game no matter how much I love the series. I so miss the height of the 360 days, it was a much better time in my life.

Horde mode is still live and it doesn't take too long to get into a match. People leaving if they don't like the map or something is a thing that happens tho.

Go play Gears of Shit 4 then. That's games multiplayer is the worst one in the series by far, even Judgement's multiplayer for all the shit it gets was more enjoyable then fucking 4.

Multiplayer is too hardcore for me but the campaigns are always hella fun, especially with a bud.

I wish the gaming community didnt hate Xbox so much so they could appreciate or at least not completely shit on anything thats exclusive on it, whether on dumn forums or image boards or in official reviews and writings

Gears was made on the lancer/shotgun combo first and foremost. That is how it should have stayed.

A gears thread on Sup Forums, today's been a good day. Gears is still one of my favorite franchises of all time, being able to play story coop with a friend or spending countless hours in multiplayer modes. This, vesperia and ME games were the reason to own a 360 back in the day (fable also I guess). Only played 1,2,3 though, didn't play the spin off and the (((sequel))).

I too logged thousands of hours. In fact probably spent more hours in 2 than in any other one (only PvP, horde modes excluded). Spent a whole summer once NEETing it out playing gears, enjoyable as fuck, some of the comfiest moments in my life, even with all the rage in MP (you're host bro, I lost due to lag)

i agree but i dont know how i feel about the shotgun meta

literally at certain distance it's ACTUALLY meta to charge through lancer bullets to give them a one bang kill, and it's like.. why even have the lancer if it's so ineffective outside of catching retards out

honestly it's very much about positioning and spacing, with how the health and damage system works it almost feels like a fighting game sometimes
