It’s pretty decent, good even, just not worth full price. It’s received several updates that have made it a lot better and it’s getting a whole new mode and more characters eventually.

I'm still waiting for new Bomberman land on Switch, even though i know it will never happen.

Yes, especially if you have friends to play with since Konami is actually giving the game long term support.

I wouldn't be surprised that if the game continues to sell that Konami adds even more guest bombers, maps and gamemodes.

I bought it at launch half because I wanted another game, and half because I just wanted to support Bomberman coming back. I think it largely depends on how much you love the old games. It's solid but short, and multiplayer is the real meat of it. Buy it on sale if you can.

The single player is not great, probably one of the weaker entries in the Bomberman series. But it's decent arcade-like fun. Pretty short too.

The real question is if you have friends to play with. Bomberman has always been best as a multiplayer game and this version is very solid, and goes hand in hand the portability of the switch and sharing joycons.

It's gonna add new characters and an e-sport mode this november with free dlc, so that's a plus too.

I'd say buy it if you have someone to play with, otherwise skip

Not OP, but what is with the Coins in this game? Just buying all the characters and maps for multiplayer takes an insane amount of in-game money, moreso than I expect an average player would EVER get by playing normally. I had to grind for hours to afford them. And that's saying nothing of the cosmetic items.

I heard you can earn coins faster by winning Ranked matches online but by the time I got the game the online was dead so I can't verify how much faster it is.

If I didn't know better I'd say it was intended to be a Free-2-play game until the last minute, that's the only way I can make sense of these values.

Konami seems to be targeting Castlevania as their next Switch release apparently so you'll probably have to wait awhile for a whole new Bomberman game (unless you're interested in Bombergirl).

Grinding the Power-Zone map is much faster than ranked.

You get 150 credits for 3 seconds of gameplay.

Just find some videos to distract yourself and it's a smooth grind.

I was able to get every single item and cosmetic in roughly 40 hours or so of marathoning anime.

I want this once it goes down in price. It doesn't look like there's enough content to justify buying it at $40. At $20 I'll prolly pick it up though.

In case you're wondering how it works:

>start a local game with rule set to 1 round, map is Power Zone
>Pick Gradius Bomber, have only 1 computer enemy set up for the match
>as soon as the match starts, press B to use your ability and glide from the top left of the map to the bottom right (where your opponent is) and let yourself get bombed by his bomb
>this nets you 150 credits and you can just keep hitting retry to grind it.

I was already grinding Power Zone and was bored out of my mind, that's a shame. Unless the new mode in the upcoming patch lets you earn coins even quicker I guess I'm just gonna skip the cosmetics

There are tons of generic platformers like Bomberman Hero out there. There are no other exploratory-action-puzzle games like the 64 games out there
