Why is this so popular?

Because its fun

Why not? It's fun and there's always something new to learn even after thousands of hours of playing.

dead game

how is it dead?

>how is this so popular?
It's not. And this is coming from someone who's played since people were paying for beta passes, it's pretty fucking dead. The only time people actually play it is during the international or for a week or two after major patches.

Otherwise it's just anime neets and subhumans, it has genuinely the worst community in gaming history coupled with the worst metric system and a behavior system that literally encourages people to quit the game while giving no incentive to not be an asshole. If you get a power outage twice in one week suddenly your playing experience will become unbearable.

It's also a literal showcase on how little valve cares about it's games communities. But rejects will continue to shovel money into it for pretty outfits for the game they barely play.

Because it's made to exploit competition addicted young males who have nothing better to do with their lives.
So glad I quit that garbage desu.

>"""Complex""" game
>Needs constant patches because of how quick the meta gets solved

What did dotards mean by this?

>store.steampowered.com/stats/

>Interchangeable with csgo for second highest played game on steam.

>Not popular

I love how people who stream this game and make money hate that they have to keep playing it just to maintain an audience.

There's always like 300k people in game retard

PATCH

FUCKING

WHEN

Russians and asian niggers

Actually the constant patches are bug fixes and localization shit. Haven't had a balance patch since before TI7. Rumors have that diretide is coming back but more jewish shit than ever.

Huh. Guess it's just not that popular with english speaking people and hugely popular with 3rd world garbage.

but it's not

hmm I dont know, maybe after the huge tournament that's coming up? Why would they drop that shit before hand, nobody would watch.

Last balance patch was post TI.

>dota2.gamepedia.com/August_20,_2017_Patch

>counting sea shits, rapefugees from canada, canadian asians, south americans and russians as people

People enjoy playing it

I rarely get those kinds of people, you must be in the flamer's que

But the meta doesn't get solved quickly. The only times I recall it being solved are after Internationals, and solved metas are the result of the best players and strategists pulling out all the stops.

If it was truly solved and stagnant, we'd have a ban/picks pool of twenty heroes. Instead, only five heroes went unused at TI7.

You got numbers to back that up?

That would make the tournament far more interesting, what are you on about

Additionally, if ESL was an issue they’re planning around, why would they say “about a month” when ESL is 2 months after said statement?

you're not a person either but you seem to count your opinion as valid user

fun and free

autism

Do you have numbers to refute it?

source: your asshole

>triggered human garbage

Why should I believe what you are saying if you can't back it up?

The burden of proof is on the person who makes the claim. That's a pretty well accepted practice.

I'm German you fucking retard

>implying you actually play the game

>he doesn't remember post-TI4's Death Prophet memepush cancer era

And that changes what exactly? Doesn't shariah law prevent you from playing dota?

>rants about the game having the worst community
>acts like a subhuman in the thread
Really makes you think

You clearly don't play the game if you need outside information to back that up.

>make a bullshit claim
>instead of backing it up, uses ad hom
DOTARDS??

So you don't have any numbers then?

Ok

I've never understood the casual side of it and just playing for fun so can't speak about that, but the competitive side is popular because there's so much depth, and eventhough you don't realistically think that, there's this little thought at the back of your mind that maybe, just maybe I could be good enough to do this for a living eventually. Doesn't matter if 0.001% of the players achieve that, as long as you feel you're evolving, you get that feeling

I only player Techies, ES and Skywrath (pos 4 player).
What other hero should I learn?

playerbase is in decline because 7.00 alienated alot of people and Valve hasn't done a decent event since Year Beast 2014. Most of the 7.00 changes got toned down so it's in a pretty good sport, but it still needs a new patch to change things up.

Despite the declining player numbers though, it has the best esports viewership. Probably the best viewers:player number ratio.

TI4 had the best games and the most fair group stages and tournament format. The only bad games was grand finals where VG tried the same draft 3 games in a row because ROTK is a fuckin retarded monkey.

It doesn't really. This patch has been going on for almost half a year, but there's things to solve. We're just living in an era where people don't want to play the same version for a year.

Frankly, I wouldn’t give a shit about the patch if they hadn’t made a fucking teaser for TI7, then said nothing for months, THEN said “about a month” in September when there isn’t a realistic time until November. I don’t want Valve parked up our ass like the fucking Overwatch devs, but be fucking clear with your community

Clearly don't play the game if you aren't used to valve being a piece of shit and existing only on valve time.

>League of legends
>You find your main and master it to even overcome its limits.
>Suddenly RIOT in one patch nerfs it and turns it into unplayable underpowered garbage and leaves it to rot.
>All hours of maining champions wasted with 1 patch
RIP mordekaiser (born before season 1, killed within riven patch)

>Dota 2
>You have main
>You master it.
>Your main never gets turned into garbage by icefrog

Lessons learned

I dunno why, i have 2000+ matches and mixed feelings about this game, sometimes I absolutely enjoyed it and other times it made me feel miserable. I haven't played for almost two years but i watch competitive matches quite often. One thing that really overwhelms me is the amount of time u have to spend playing it improve significantly, it's just insane, and take from someone who actually reached a decent rank (5k mmr). I got discouraged when I realized that no matter how many milestones I reached I would never accomplish anything more thanks brag about it with random people on the internet.
That said, I had amazing times playing pubs with friends

>a behavior system that literally encourages people to quit the game while giving no incentive to not be an asshole

The incentive is if you aren't an asshole then you won't be placed with assholes. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Only real problem with it at the moment (in my opinion) is new players being matched with high behavior score players but I don't know if that has been fixed or not yet.

>If you get a power outage twice in one week suddenly your playing experience will become unbearable.

Seems like a minority of people who would be affected by power outages happening that often. Even then, if you are in LP because of an abandon like that and you aren't an asshole, it is relatively easy to get out. I never has much of a problem with LP when I had to abandon due to IRL issues.

>patch

Why aren't you playing Paragon, Sup Forums? It has actual graphics.

its not popular
its dead
where is patch
