DOA Xtreme was when the series shot itself in the foot. The entire franchise started to market itself as fapbait instead of a good fighter, even putting a boob-bounce mechanic in the game starting with DOA4. Nobody who loves fighting games plays DOA anymore. I mean why would we? Tekken is objectively the better game these days. Hell I find online matches in USF4 more easily these days than the rare occurence I try to boot up DOA5.
