Literally the best run of the entire event was an endless comfy, WR-pace run of Final Fantasy 7 last year with top-tier commentary.

I remember watching hours upon hours of VOD's from the events, but have probably watched less than 10 from the last 3 or 4 events put together. Games are either the same as always or some flavour of the month meme game, and runners and commentators are instructed to behave like professionals instead of having improvised fun.

I can't believe how shit this has become. Come to think of it, when and how did this event actually gather such a stupendous amount of viewers?

I don't know why but I can't really watch ESA. It's more like watching a bunch of individuals streaming their game than having a designated couch to make it more event-like. Some weird psychological effect that makes it seem far worse in quality.
