What's it like being a PC Gamer?

What's it like being a PC Gamer?

pc gaming has ruined me. I wish I could enjoy games again but it's too late to switch back to consoles

A lot of bright LEDs that keep you awake at night and masturbation.

You notice how shitty every "realistic" game looks (even on PC).

>tfw got a new 1080ti for $400
pc gamor here i come

I'm sure there's other pc only folk like me who treat it as a console and play from bed with a controller mostly. I'm going through ps1 games currently. It's very nice.

Depends if you're an average PC gamer or want max settings for everything

It's probably only worth it if you enjoy tinkering and learning about technology and or you need to do things other than game. It's not an avenue niggers should pursue.

Depends on power level.

When i had a budget build it felt great knowing i could tweak settings to get 60fps with any game. The massive amount of older games that become available to you(that perform great since you have much more power than was necessary at the time) and the emulators are great. Secondary monitor lets you watch other things or shitpost on Sup Forums while playing games

Now that i have i7/1080 I don't have to worry about tweaking shit to maintain the 75fps of my current 1440p monitor i use for gaming. Haven't found any game outside of ARK and other horrendously optimized games that can really lag it. Multitasking is seamless and the SSD makes the operating system run smooth.

having a PC unlocks genres foreign to consoles as well as giving you access to thousands games including emulated old consoles. Its pretty great. The growths that form on your shoulders and forehead from using a PC are totally worth it.

I got a graphics card. It turned out my CPU bottlnecked it. So I got the best CPU for my socket. Turns out AM2+ is a little obselete. So now I'm waiting on an i5 4570 and motherboard to arrive. But then my 1050 will be the bottleneck.
Send help.

>have a bitching comp that can play anything current to emulate almost all the games released in the past 30 years

as Sup Forumsirgin and a /vr/Trooper, its pretty fuckin choice

as a Sup Forums poster it helps to be able to use it as a plex server filled to the brim with kino films, kino shows, and anime

as a Sup Forumsentooman, it allows me to dual boot Linux and be a rice out my distro with weebshit and work on programming projects

i love my computer.

I just built my PC last week.
I'm still marvelling at how incredible ten year old games look with everything cranked up to max and a great resolution.
I've just been playing Tomb Raider: Legend all day and in awe of how good it looks. I'm going to jerk off like crazy when I replay Tomb Raider: Underworld on this thing.

I've been playing a mix of Xbox, PS2 and 360 games I either never played, or always wanted to play through at 1080p 60fps.
And god damn, of them all, Dark Messiah holds up the best.

>I've just been playing Tomb Raider: Legend
You didn't feel for nextgen content meme, right?

I play vidya, I play vidya to which I fap, I watch anime, listen to music, post dumb shit on the internet, code and draw. All this whilst not leaving the comfort of desk.

This

they says knowledge come with a price

I played it with both in order to compare them.
Then I installed nude Lara mods.

This anime looks... interesting.

Really annoying every few years if you're like me and know almost nothing about tech, making upgrading a major pain in the ass.

Bags of salty coins

You are the archetypal numale. Pathetic.

That's 90% of Sup Forums in a nuthsell, you faggot.

Fantastic.

You sit on an extremely comfy way, close to the monitor and you pretty much have the best audio/controller possible cause you choose what the fuck do you want to play with.

It made me hate skyrim because I was too busy trying to download fucking realistic water instead of actually playing the damn game. Im playing right now without mods and Im loving it. reminds me of weekends on my 360 playing it.

TF2 is all i need

First thought when waking up in the morning and last thought before going to bed is "why am I alive" but, between that, you play a bunch of awesome games at really high quality.

Waiting for ports and emulating all day

You pirate this massive library of games but end up playing the same 2 or 3 and some weebshit games for a while before trying them and emulating old console games because you don't like new things or care about third person shooters

No, this is 90% of Sup Forums in a nuthsell
>Help, I'm in a giant nuthsell!
>I'm trapped here with a million other people!
>Where do you even find such a bloody big nuthsell!?

>that consolepeasant mindset

fucking awesome. bitches be dripping wet when I tell them about my rig.

I wish I could still feel the privilege and excitement of PC gaming.

It quickly wears off years later, when you're looking at your Steam library that's only 1/4 downloaded (or even less) completely clueless on what to play. This continues, for hours, days, weeks, months, years. I got my PC at 16 and here I am about to turn 21 completely depressed and unmotivated to use it. This investment is now just a reminder of how much more bitter I've gotten, and how I'll never relive those days of being 16, staying up all night enjoying my new computer and crisp smooth games. I keep coming back hoping to feel something, but I don't. I never do

Being able to thinker with games is a plus.

Expensive, especially this year.

Pretty fucking boring.

>inb4 no games

The opposite actually, too many games you don't know what to play, I always end up going to multiple choice picker online to see what I'll play.

grieving about how all of my favorite franchises sank in quality after they spread to consoles

>it quickly wears off years later

Anyways, I'm a bit older than you and still have some fleeting, really fun times with my bros. Maybe once every 2 months and we are absolutely terrible at everything we play but it's more about getting drunk and talking shit.

I can play GTA V at 1440p@120Hz/fps, then play RDR on a fucking PS3 and still enjoy it. Maybe be less retarded.

This

It's like this.

It's fine. Most of my friends are on console but I don't play much multiplayer anyway

all that shines turns to rust.

Live to accept that. You will be one day dust as well.

Stop living in flat habits. Do sports, eat well, sleep, kindle relationships, have an ok job and you're set to enjoy things again

has pros and cons
>cheap games, any input device I want
>best multiplayer-games, can hang out with online friends
>can stream to most devices or for friends for comfy gaming
>have to troubleshoot and look up fixes
>"works on my machine"(tm)

vs console gaming
>expensive games if there are any
>it just werks*
>*in case you updated everything
I have a pc, wii u, xbox one s, n3ds

>do all this
>have no time to vidya
Wonderful

>finally upgrade my pc
>go all out, 1080 Ti
>spend lots of money
>Have to play on a 1050p TV monitor because I can't afford to pay for a nu monitor yet

Feels bad man. I'm saving up to get myself an ultrawide 1440p though. I can suffer with 1050p for a month or two. It'll be worth it. YOU'LL SEE.

>Xbox One S when you have a PC
For what purpose

I'm not talking about the framerate you fucking idiot

...

You start playing less and less games due to horrible ports and issues, and start browsing Sup Forums more and more ranting about how you're a tired gamer.

Disappointing

Then what were you talking about?

What if he doesn't want Windows 10 to play the MS games? They aren't all on Steam you know.

This

I assume he means mouse and keyboard.

It's the best way to enjoy video games.

>tfw playing mirrors edge 1 for the first time and downsampling it from 5120x3200 onto a 2560x1600 screen + fov mod.
I can't imagine enjoying this game with a controller. Also, baked in lighting is amazing. Too bad Catalyst is snooze fest open world garbage with tacked-on weightless parkour elements.

Same as a console gamer, I get on my rig and play games with my friends. Any superiority complex fags saying otherwise are just compensating

>no time for vidya
>get graving to play again
>find time to play one night a month
>possibly having blast doing so
>most likely won't enjoy it anyways
The feeling won't come back except you're playing offline with friends

i was sick of my smartTV became a laggy/ clunky piece of shit to use so I bought the xbox which serves as glorified netflix machine with the option of playing uhd content (like 4k blu rays, streams) and came bundled with 2 nice controllers and games.
>tfw still waiting for the option to stream game to xbox like a steam-link

I disagree. PC gaming also has modding, which you can't get on a console, and there are entire genres that only work on PC. Freespace 2 would never work on a console, for example. I do PC gaming because of the games themselves and couldn't care less about the technology.

>Higher resolutions
>At higher framerates
>With better textures
>Without having to pay to use your internet twice
>With more choice/variety in control inputs
>With cheaper games
>With modding
>With easy access to decades worth of games

>but you don't get to ""play"" Sony's latest cinematic third person experience

XIM4 is a thing.

Playing old games at super high resolutions is really underrated. In fact, on PC there aren't really "old" or new games. Games don't age the same way they do on consoles.

...

It always makes me laugh when publishers bring their console remasters to PC and expect us to pay for our games twice like our console cousins have to if they want to play the game at higher resolution

>Playing old games at super high resolutions is really underrated.
It tends to make the text unreadably small.

Admitting that I'll primarily game on consoles after Windows 7 stops getting security updates in 2020.

Only downside is getting motion-sick now from sub-30 fps footage. Heavy is the head that wears the crown...

They still support xp with crucial updates because a lot of companies still using it.

That was only because WannaCry was fucking companies over on a global scale and Microsoft wanted to play the good guy for media attention. With how desperate they are to get everyone on their adware OS I wouldn't be surprised if they paid game developers to stop supporting 7 and 8.

I absolutely despise remasters or even most fanmade highres texture packs if they deviate too much from the original. Halo CE anniversary really opened my eyes as to how bad of an idea it really is to "remaster" a game, because rarely if ever does anyone put any thought into it (even if it's done with good intentions i.e a free mod by a fan). Sometimes it works, but most remasters end up turning the intended, specific artstyle/atmosphere of a game into mediocrity.

I was proper excited for Silent Hill 2 HD but then Konami took a shit in my mouth with it. Pretty much killed my interest in them dead.

>console
>no one talks on mic
>PC
>everyone talks
This is my favorite part. Drunk PC gaming is ELITE PC gaming.

>Play on console
>some sweaty little kid is calling me a fucking idiot before he gets shouted at by his mum

That one RE4 high res texture mod is how you do it right but it's a huge effort, far too huge for most

You've never played counter strike have you?

How the hell did you get a deal like that?

not since source, but I was probably part of the problem back then haha

Steam controller + gyro aiming makes it hard to go back to joypad for FPS (I hate using mouse don't mention k+m)

same here, I can even play games on my Vita or PSP and still enjoy them to their fullest.

Personally I feel more comfortable gaming on PC. Sofas feel unsupportive and slackish in the long run compared to a desk chair you can sit in for 12 hours at a time, and controllers make my hands sweat. Also they're the inferior input method for a lot of very good game genres, far prefer mouse and keyboard for most games. Also no horrid, slow OS menus.

I played vidya on PC my whole life and I always enjoyed it, but two years ago I wanted to try console exclusives so I got myself a PS3. Pretty soon I realized that I care about resolution and framerate way less then I thought I did. Fiddling with PCs taught me a lot as a kid (which helps immensely in my office job) and I still enjoy it, but the less free time I have, the less I feel like modding and getting old games running and shit.

Instead of an upgrade, I'm gonna get a PS4, probably next year.

cold and empty
