You didn't charge it for a while

This. Smartphones happened.
it moved to phones, the only market left for dedicated handhelds now is the kiddie market. 3DS has that cornered and the vita tried to pander to a market that no longer exists (or would rather just play games on their phone)
There is room for a new dedicated handheld to enter the market now that the 3DS is aging and the Switch isn't a true handheld replacement, but they would have to go for the kid audience. Sony already said they aren't doing another handheld at least in the foreseeable future, and microsoft are too incompetent to get it right. So no new (at least good) handheld.
Handheld may not have died, but the games sure did thanks to normie's and whales. All these years ans there's fucking nothing on smartphone marketplace that holds a candle to the great GBA titles that isn't a port of a console games like fft
gachas and in app purchases became more profitable than full games
but why do you need a handheld when you can turn your phone or tablet into a handheld with a telescoping bluetooth controller?
like I don't see the point personally. Yea, there's not that many dedicated games on phones yet that take advantage of it though, I'll admit that.
What's a "whale"? Except the sea animal, I mean?
I mean the 3DS is still the top selling 8th gen console.
>what is the Switch
Are you legitimately certified bona fide retarded?
You said why. Most smartphone games are top tier casual trash.
Was the last good handheld the GameboyAdvanced?
>Great third party games
>First party games are top tear too
>God tear pixel graphics
>i.e. Doesn't have god awful polygonal graphics like the ds
>aesthetic streamline design
It's literally perfect!
A piece of shitch?
It didn't, it just merged with consoles. We saw this from the time the psp go launched. You could hook it up to a tv and connect a dualshock 3 via bluetooth and play your psp games like you would any console game. Then came the vita tv where playing on the big screen was as simple as moving your game card and memory card from your vita to your vita tv, or completely seamless if you had another memory card and ps plus. Now we have the switch. The console and the handheld are one and the same, the console and the pc are becoming the same with xbone x and ps4 pro. All is unifying into one.
There's the Switch, there's also the mobile phone gaming cancer taking over. DS is still a thing too but at this point they're just milking it.
That was so unfunny and cringe worthy that it's making me close my browser to go outside. Bye.
Fuck you, I was gonna post that, damn it
>n sales terminology, a whale is pretty much just what it sounds like – it's a prospect that's at least 10 times larger than your average sale. With B2B sales – business to business – a whale prospect is often a company that's far larger than your own. In B2C or business to consumer sales, it might be a prospect who buys your priciest product option and does so regularly.
The Vita died, unless you are Japanese of course.
This is where most of the competition went to.
Oh no
It's retarded.
>he actually thought this was funny
your shitposting.
jesus christ this is the worst one yet
Mobile OSes are not built for games outside of casual shit.
the graphics APIs are just total ass to work with, just look at the Nvidia shield. Effectively an overclocked nintendo switch running android, and it even got some ports of "AAA" PC games. But they ran like total shit, even worse than you would expect of the hardware, with loads of weird issues like lag spikes and constant frame pacing issues that made a game running at 60fps feel choppier than bloodborne at launch.
Not only that but the phone's operating system is optimised to save battery, reduce heat and prioritise certain tasks (phone & SMS functions, etc), this means games get throttled and forced to wait for access to system resources causing short freezes and stutter.
The only way a phone could work properly as a portable games machine is if they seriously re-engineer the operating system to have a "game mode" and install a different graphics API. Funnily enough sony already did this several years ago with a phone called the Xperia Play, which could play some ported psp games and had a heavily modified version of android. It was a flop.

It has a good web browser that allows you to download and watch porn
Smartphone game market is completely isolated from the rest of the game market
you can watch porn on your mobile

Phones happened. Why would I want to spend upwards of $200 for a handheld that just plays games when I already have a phone that does that and more?
mobile games are shit
That's a cute girl. Who is it?
