Fire Emblem thread. No Heroes; it already has its own thread.
What do you want to see in the Fire Emblem title for the Switch? Is there any hope that we'll get at least a decent story again with no self-insert avatar?

FE4
So I'm going through FE Shadow Dragon and just finished the chapter with Darros and Castor.
Didn't know I could recruit Darros and killed him but I did save Castor.
Is it alright to move on without him? Alrredy saved for the next chapter.
Also how does Castor stack up next to Gordin?
I really hope they bring back full voice acting and the same guys who directed it as SoV. I know voice acting can be expensive, especially if FE Switch has a big cast with a lot of supports, but if they could afford it for a remake of a black sheep, hopefully they can afford it here. I think the VA quality was a huge part of why SoV's presentation was so nice.
>no self-insert avatar
you just know it will have that
I hope the FE on the switch is like 100 hrs long with tier 3 promotions
Shadow Dragon throws a lot of characters at you and doesn't treat each unit with the same weight and care as other FE because FE1 expected units to die and be left behind. I got through Shadow Dragon as an idiot 14 year old who lost a unit almost every chapter and didn't reset. You'll be fine.
I hate this meme.
Jihad had some cool things going on, especially the barbecue, but it's writing as a whole wasn't that much better than other FE games, aka average. The story romances in the game were possibly the worst in the series, and locking away important scenes behind the requirement of having to play the game 10+ times was retarded.
>Jihad
Fuck off Ahmed
I want a decent story.
>What do you want to see in the Fire Emblem title for the Switch
Fanservice that isn't blatantly censored either during the design phase or after.
Translated Japanese thoughts on Awakening. Now for Fates.
That looks like he'd be sweating to death.
>What do you want to see in the Fire Emblem title for the Switch?
>complex maps like conquest chapter 10
>Refinement of the stuff Fates brought in (WT, buffs/debuffs, reclassing, etc)
>weight like echoes hopefully keeping out con again
>black and white magic
>height
>thieves can steal again
>3rd tier promotions again
>mix of base from PoR/RD and my castle
>bonus exp
>true hit
>no greedy DLC or non at all, have a complete game the first time around unlike the 3ds games
>god tier use of an dynamic ost again
There's other shit I can list but I'm too lazy. Conquest evolved the series in a lot of ways so I hope the Switch title can continue the trend without needing to sacrifice the story.
Fire Emblem conquest 2. Anything else would be a waste of time
FE13 cons:
>Maps are monotonous and barren and frequently have the same "rout" objective, although gaiden maps are much better so it seems to only affect the main path
FE2 pros:
>Map structure requires more strategy
What?
>black and white magic
I hope you mean Dark and Light
But also dont forget Anima (Fire/Wind/Lightning)
I dont mind an avatar character as long as they
Like for example they could make the custom character the game's Villager and let you recruit him later
Have him be not important at all, or at least no more important than Donnel and Mozu were
>What do you want to see in the Fire Emblem title for the Switch?
That it also be on the Wii U. FUCK SWITCH!
Also I want more focus on units other that swords. There should only be 1 or 2 sword units in the next Fire Emblem.
Consider that Gaiden came in 8th place overall in the series according to a recent poll and you'll know why. It's a beloved title that was still getting fanart by the time SoV was announced.
Yeah I meant that. I don't know why I was thinking black and white.
I've been thinking about the speculation on how a FE6 and 7 remake would go and I think it would be best if they released separately instead of packaged together. They could still have some integration, with perhaps completion of 7 could affect some characters stats and change events slightly. I recently started replaying 6 again and of course there are a lot of inconsistencies between it and 7 since it was made first, which would be hopefully fixed as a remake. I got to the part where Zephiel captured Hector and thought it would be neat if Hector mentioned he saved his life all those years before. Maybe the integration could be that if you had Hector speak to Zephiel in that level where you get Nino, then it would add more dialogue to the game.
Also I hope the difficulty would be more on par with 6.
>Fanservice
If I like fire emblem, what other games would I like? Radiant dawn and path of radiance were my favorites
Give Shining Force 1 and 2 a shot.
Advance Wars 1 and 2 are just straight up FE but better
TearRing Saga. It was made by Kaga after he left IS.
Open maps do require more strategy than hallways and choke points.
>a decent story again
>again
nostalgiafags are the worst
I disagree but liking one barren set of maps over other barren set of maps is hypocrisy at its finest.
Well, they are japanese. Hypocrisy and blind nostalgia is part of their culture.
I don't have much hope for the next one. They couldn't even do something so simple as let the player choose the servant they wanted at the beginning of Fates and instead gender-locked them. I wanted Jakob NOT Felicia. There'll probably be another Azura-like figure to ruin the story and be forced on the player. They put another avatar in there, too, I bet.
Well, I'm in your situation before, finding a game similar to FE since I already played all the possible one.
I did go for Rondo of Swords, I don't know how people like it but I did, despite the brutal difficulty.
Hows the translation? Already complete?
*They'll
Yeah, do it like Fates. You can get either Binding Blade or Blazing Sword and can buy the other at a reduced price.
As for difficulty, I expect they'd have Normal, Hard, and Lunatic, as well as Casual and Classic, so...
>What do you want to see in the Fire Emblem title for the Switch?
No more avatar shit, Hidari art, an actual decent story and world building this time, good maps, them not going overboard with dlc
