I just touched the 8th GEN consoles for the first time today, Sup Forums.
... do you really have to install every game from your disc before being able to play it?
I just touched the 8th GEN consoles for the first time today, Sup Forums
On xbone and ps4 yeah not with the switch though.
Most you don't install from the disc at all. The disc is merely a key to allow a download. 8th gen and to some extent 7th gen are just stunted PCs.
You have to install the entire game + the mandatory 20 or 30gb patch.
Good luck tonight and remember, have fun with it!
>console kiddies
To add to this, some games take as long or longer to install and patch as late 90s PC games. It's fucking infuriating. The only point of consoles, especially 8th gen is the exclusives, they have lost all advantages they had over PC.
OP here.
What the fuck is the point of physical copies then? This is fucking hilarious. I'm returning this shit tomorrow.
So the system knows you own the game or some stupid shit like that.
A plastic box you can put on the shelf? There are already games with physical copies you can't play anymore. You can google them.
>every post is a massive exaggeration and most likely the poster believes it to be true because they must shitpost about subjects they have no clue about
lol
>If I green text and call someone out with no proof it's smart and true.
This is not true, unless it's for an online-only game like Destiny.
I have installed every game I've gotten offline because it takes an average of 20 min or so, but there are usually patches that require a download even on day 1 (since the ESRB system takes about 3-4 months to process games before selling). I wait until I go to work or sleep to put it back online and download the updates.
not with the switch
Day One patches range from ~15 mb to 6 gigs. Highest I've ever seen is ~20gb for FO4, but I kinda expected that and have never even seen anything close to that since then.
OP here again.
I only got into PC like 3 months before the 8th gen consoles were officially announced and only got to touch them today.
I don't remember the PS3 or XB360 being this stupid and pointless.
I'm sorry if I sound like any other PC elitist, but I'm actually glad I didn't fall for the 8th gen meme.
Oh and I'll add that the Nintendo Switch is at least not being completely stupid.
I'd say PC & Nintendo master race, honestly.
There's nothing stupid or pointless about them. They are a competitively cheap alternative to PC gaming. To get more out of your PC for games, you need to spend at least $800. Anything less is going to look and run like shit compared to consoles for the newest games. Most of the information you got was from people who are exaggerating because of Reddit's PC Master Race meme.
That being said, PC is superior if you have the money to spend on it. But anyone who says they can build a PC that outperforms the most recent console for equal or lesser value is absolutely lying, and I sincerely hope anyone who believes them is willing to waste their money on trying to make it work.
You wanna know the best part?
You don't even buy games anymore...you buy the license to access the game's software.
That's right...YOU DON'T OWN ANYTHING. THAT $60 YOU SPENT WAS TO ASK A COMPANY PERMISSION TO DOWNLOAD THEIR PRODUCT.
WELCOME TO "GAMES AS A SERVICE". MWAHAAHAAHAAHAH!!!!
why spread lies like this
I built a PC for $250 that runs games at 1080p 60fps compared to Ps4 Pro which runs games at 900p 30-60fps.
All I did was get a $60 PC from an internet cafe place, buy a GTX 1050 ti for $150, and 4GB of RAM on top of the 4GB it already had for $40.
Oh, don't do that.
Your disc contains a special code that allows you to access the license you downloaded.
Without that disc, you won't be able to play the game you downloaded.
What do you think this is...the original XBox?
You've had to always install physical copies on PC though.
This stuff is a complete non-issue on any platform.
And yes, this is OP saying this.
I come from consoles all the way from N64 to Ps3&XB360
> If I just call it lies maybe people reading the thread will think I'm right
To be fair, most of the people here are children, so succinctly stating a contrarian falsehoods is a surefire way to get them on your side. I'm with you, user. I, too, hope people get fucked over expecting memes to be true.
no really, why go online and lie?
He's right though. That post was a lie. Again, I built a really cheap PC and it runs better than a PS4 pro.
> Things that never happened
Even if they did, this is an isolated incident that is not indicative of an average shopping endeavor. There was a guy on Craigslist who made trades starting with an iPhone and ending with a Porsche, but I that doesn't mean that's just something everyone can do.
I found it pretty fucking easily, honestly. The guy even has 5 other PC's with the same specs I bought it with.
The CPU is not amazing, but it surprisingly does the job very well.
I bought a used SSD for $50 to make loading times even faster which is my first of many upgrades I'll be making to it.
Health on the SSD is at 100% when I check on it with software.
I don't know who you're trying to convince. It's just me and you in this thread, dude. The likelyhood that you actually did that is very slim, and I don't believe you. If it actually happened, congratulations, you got yourself a very good deal. One that is not easy to come by, even if it happened to bumblefuck it's way into your lap.
Just go to any internet cafe and ask if they sell a computer with an i3 or i5 in it, buy a 1050ti, make sure you have 8GB of RAM, and you're done.
I've gone to 4 separate internet cafes where I live and they all had at least 1 for sale with this one having a bunch of them.
I think not having a decent PC that outperforms a console for the same price range in 2017 is just an excuse at this point.
Also, I didn't have a job when I got this.
What's your excuse?
It takes like less than five seconds on my PS4, but yes. You also have to download the patch, but you have to do that on any platform.
I wasn't aware either when I bought my PS4 a few months ago, I got the basic version because I thought I couldn't possibly run out of hard drive space.
Then I put in the game disk and it takes like a half fucking hour installing shit, they're taking all of the convenience out of owning a console.
Is everyone in this thread retarded or baiting? No you don't install the entire game from the disc
I swear half these posts are pc only redditors lying out their ass
>Then I put in the game disk and it takes like a half fucking hour installing shit
I refuse to believe this because my PS4 Pro takes less than 10 seconds to install 30GB games.
Yea
yes and its fucking bullshit. games using 128gb-256gb cards when
why go online and spread lies like that
30GB at 5400RPM does not happen in 10 seconds.
They are no lies, I am completely serious. From putting the disk in to playing is like 10 seconds at best. It's only the patches that take me ages to get.
88.1mb/s****
but yeh 5400 RPM
lmfao my cheap $250 PC that runs better than a PS4 pro has a 5900RPM hard drive.
Wtf is up with these dumb consoles?
