When will Nintendo get their shit together

When will Nintendo get their shit together.
I finally have an IRL friend who has a Switch, but whats the point when I can't properly communicate with him in game?

Mario kart and Minecraft, two of the biggest multiplayer games on the platform have no way to chat. I'm hoping when this Switch online service rolls out that this functionality is added to these games.

Anybody think this is going to happen? I can see myself selling my Switch after odyssey if things don't change

Get Line or Miitomo?

Worst case scenario I use a whatsapp call, but it shouldn't come to that. There should at least be an option for keyboard chat

join the 21st century and get Skype/Discord/Teamspeak/ect like a normal human bean

> Decide to play minecraft online
> First have to find a forum for friend code exchange of minecraft players
> Wait for someone to open a server, join it
> Right i'm in the server with other people, but i cant mine anything because i don't have permissions
> No way to communicate with the Host that I need permission to build
> Have to go and find him on the map, jump about in front of him and hope he understands
> He doesn't
> I have to find some wood to build a sign so I can use it to ask the host for permission
> Finally I get permission, start building
> Someone comes and starts destroying my house, apparently i'm not allowed to build there.
>I give up and quit, to frustrating not being able to communicate

On PC version:
> Find server, join it
>Ask for whatever you need, get it immediately

They added new shit today so won't be long now I guess.

Use discord like a normal fucking person.

Or Skype, WhatsApp, line, Kik or any of the billion other instant messagers

The point is when you spend over 300$ on a gaming machine you expect to have features like this built in like the other two systems.

I'd rather not have 12-year-old autists perpetually screaming at me.

Maybe you should have bought a smartphone instead desu

Gotta protect muh childrun.

Well you expected wrong faggot

What about in a minecraft server where communication is pretty much essential? Just make signs telling everyone to get discord and add each other?

Its convoluted and makes me want to not bother

Get a PC, faggot. Console Minecraft is a scam.

Not really, crossplay with Xbone and PC users if I can recall correctly

With limited map sizes and forced Windows 10.

I dont think you've ever played console Minecraft. Build permissions can't be set individually like PC.

Yep sadly this is it. Its dumb because they've already got their asses covered with parental control features so if kids go online and chat to pedos it's the parents responsibility really as they gave their kids permission to do so

You can have infinite on xbone of you like being stuck on a loading screen forever

Got PC minecraft already. I prefer the switch version for muh comfy, but the multiplayer is ruined by lack of communication

Map sized will be infinite once the update hits switch

Well its a true story. Whatever happened it was a problem that could have been solved in 2 seconds if i could type to people

>gamecube didn't have chat
>wii didn't have chat except for 3 games
>wii u didn't have chat except for 3 games
>expects Switch to have chat

just drop the pretense and fuck already you fruity faggots.

But it's nearly 2018. They've created all the tools already to allow it, such as keyboard support on the console, smartphone voice chat. They just need to allow me to use it

>everyone else has had chat for at least 12 years
>some since 2004

>they think Nintendo is in the business of giving you what you want
Haha

This is also the first time we're being charged for online play so I really expect something should come through

>I can see myself selling my Switch after odyssey if things don't change
No you wouldn't.

They're giving me a new Metroid Prime, at least I have that

Console Minecraft is getting fucked anyway by making the crossplay version (even has to be downloaded as its own separate game) basically be pocket edition without really reworking it for controls.

If anything was going to improve, they would have said something by now.

300$ is not much when you have 1000$ smartphone and 3k MacBook

It is when you've got a $100 smartphone and a $400 laptop. And the option to get a PS4 for

What online game did Gamecube have?

Phantasy Star

And keyboard chat was supported in this. 3 generations ago

Even Animal Crossing Wild World supported text chat.

Nintendo basically doesn't force devs to create chat.

If I remember, only the 360 had text messages and voice for a while and PS3 had to wait to get it. I think it was because of patents or something that microsoft controlled.

Even a wii u game like Black Ops 2 had voice chat and sending invites to play, meanwhile other games didn't support it even though the game pad had a built in microphone.

It's just like Star Wars Battlefront for PS4 not having native voice chat and having to use these PS4 group function to even play together.

I think it's standard in Microsoft systems and dev/game specific for Nintendo. I don't think there's anything stopping devs from implementing in game messaging systems unless Nintendo is slowly rolling out new features for the Online app which is nearly useless since only Splatoon 2 uses it.

Microsoft have always been on top form with this functionality, I guess they had a lot of software experience before they started making consoles.

I do think that Nintendo should add existing multiplayer games to their online app not just Splatoon 2 and future releases.

I'm hoping now that MS is working with Nintendo on cross platform play via xbox live, they will bring chat to the Switch versions
