>playing a fighting game against some scrub >they keep picking your character when they lose >keep having to switch to keep avoid playing the lame mirror >they keep switching and getting raped
why do people do this? if you do this I hope you kill yourself.
>why do people do this? if you do this I hope you kill yourself.
I agree, people who play fighting games should kys themselves.
Leo Mitchell
>contest of pure skill is lame lmao
Grayson Mitchell
>mirror match >contest of pure skill
are you retarded?
Zachary Clark
>playing character-based games
Luke Nguyen
You must be retarded if you think otherwise.
Jonathan Moore
Fighting games teach you perseverance, how to break past your limits, and becoming a man, you little cuck.
Claiming fucking mirrors are a contest of pure skill is the most neo-Sup Forums thing I've read in my life. It's abundantly clear you never played a fighting game seriously in your life.
Brandon Williams
>he needs games to learn things >literally special ed
Mason Bell
Lol check out this faggot
Leo Gutierrez
This shit happens in racing games all the time aswell lmao, people are just stupid.
Ethan James
how isnt it? it all boils down to how much information you each know about the character, your dexterity is accountable but not nearly as much as character knowledge, especially when you throw in fundamentals.
im sorry youre too stupid to figure this out on your own
Luis Garcia
the whole point of fighting games is using your unique tools against another character, getting them in the ideal spacing so you can control the space and force them to make the wrong decisions, which you then punish
a mirror match has the same ideal spacing and same tools, it makes the neutral game retarded
please never talk about fighting games again
Charles Reed
are mirror matches dumb as fuck in racing sims too? I can see how conceptually but I do not play them (respect though that genre is brutal)
Hudson Hall
>makes neutral game retarded so you have bad fundies? having trouble seeing the lame part, sounds like youre pretty trash
Joshua Collins
Uh, no.
You just ignored the whole post and accused me of being bad. What a dumbass.
Carter Brown
no, youre projecting sry youre blind too
Alexander Sanders
what fighting games do you play?
Kevin Nelson
>a mirror match has the same ideal spacing and same tools So then it's literally based on who using the same tools better? That's LITERALLY how you test skill. >h-hur dur who has better aim at 1000 yards the guy with the pistol or the guy with the sniper? that's how u test skill!! That's what you're saying and you're fucking retarded.
Sebastian Peterson
>the whole point of fighting games >the whole point of 2D arcade fighting games based on Street Fighter II
Justin Cruz
anything that has decent online, isn't indie-tier (SG is the threshold) and has shit I like in it thats unique to itself, almost always involves characters and mechanics.
mirror matches take away the fighting for space control on the screen
just stop talking
Hudson Turner
>watching fighting game """analysis"""
Landon Flores
Not to the same extent, i've personally only dabbled a little in the fighter genre but i dislike mirror matches in it a lot more than i do in racing. What i find is hilarious is these people are so far against admitting they lost that, with their actions, they just claim "It was just because you had a better character!" untill they get smacked on their asses definitively.
Jonathan Nguyen
I'm done explaining for like the fifth time. Bye.
Julian Rodriguez
congrats, you proved your point and lost the main subject matter of whether or not its lame or not
triggered, baited, youre still ass at whatever game you tricked yourself into thinking youre good at and now want to be a lil bitch in your own thread because youre scared of yourself or something or other
eat shit kid
Nathaniel Morris
haha, baited, I was only pretending to be retarded ;)
trole'd hard xDD
Logan Evans
'cept youre the baited one in this situation?

ideal space for guile, let's say in ST, in the ryu guile matchup is just within crouching forward range but just outside ryu's sweep or crouching forward, or just after throwing a boom close up so he can punish with backfist or get ryu into that crouching forward range
ryu's is fullscreen so he can zone
in a mirror there is no 'ideal' range. it makes zero difference because the characters have the same tools.
Bentley Mitchell
Not that guy, but mirror matches can suck complete ass sometimes depending on the character, as more defensive characters will boil down to "whoever makes the first move gets countered". Usually you just have people awkwardly fiddling around away from each other because their normals and specials reach the same distance, so they'll either mash out normals and chip each other down or turn into a turtling clusterfuck, like a Gief vs Gief match. It's super cancer if the character abuses super armor, as it places the advantage in the hands of the one waiting for the other person to make the move, where generally characters like that may lack tools that other characters can pressure them with.
Though I'll admit it's not always bad. I think shoto type characters work well in a mirror match environment since they generally work in a Rock-Paper-Scissors process of fireballs, anti-airs, and jump-ins.
Luis Cooper
>I think shoto type characters work well in a mirror match environment since they generally work in a Rock-Paper-Scissors process of fireballs, anti-airs, and jump-ins.
it's ok compared to a grappler mirror or like a rushdown mirror
Hudson Taylor
May sound dumb, but I don't really mind rushdown mirrors in faster games like KOF, shit is pretty fun sometimes, though maybe that's just because you have a lot of evasive options in that series. Grappler mirrors are ass though, and I absolutely LOATHE any mirror involving a character with super armor.
Cooper Sullivan
This is just a reason why the mechanics of fighting games are fundamentally flawed.
Lincoln Phillips
What this guy said, also in some fighting games characters are more different from each other than Ryu and Ken and use completely different tools, but in mirror match it just so happens that their tools cancel each other out, making it a borefest of trying to use the most basic stuff and ignoring all character gameplay personality altogether.
Andrew Reyes
ehehe i poosh buttens n man punch stffu
Justin Thomas
wut
idk man, I love fighting games, so I'm gonna be real stubborn about disagreeing with you there. Likelihood of a complete mirror match in KoF is low as fuck since you're VERY unlikely to be running the same team, and even if you were, you still have the ability to swap turn order between matches. I think it's only really a major issue if you have characters that are incredibly reliant on setting up traps, close-range grapplers, or defensive characters. As a recent example, I imagine a Menat vs Menat match would be absolute ass, boiling down to people desperately trying to poke the other person, then leaving their orb out in the hopes that the other person is a fucking retard and lets them pull off a hit to drag them close and set a combo up. Grappler mirror matches are going to rely on just fidgety poking bullshit with normals and people doing everything in their power to avoid the grab range between each other, and even if they do get into that range, it's a toss-up of who pulls it off. Trap characters are going to have little reason to get out of their comfort zone since they're likely not designed with tools meant to pressure themselves out of their range, whereas a fireball type character would probably be able to force them to get closer at some point. Most characters aren't built that way though, so I don't think it's the worst issue, and games with lots of mobility options like KoF kinda alleviate the issue. It's something like Street Fighter where characters are generally more grounded and slower paced where it becomes a headache in my opinion.
Nathan Sanders
hehe :) lol
Jeremiah Hernandez
So you're saying that the ability to execute your techniques more effectively than your opponent any mirror match character's "advantageous range" doesn't matter because all techniques cancel each other out. That's what you're saying, right?
You're a special kind of retarded, aren't you? Quit being a fucking scrub and actually learn your fucking main instead of bitching out when someone picks the same character as you, pussy.
Parker Robinson
>You're a special kind of retarded, >aren't you? Quit being a fucking scrub and actually learn your fucking main instead of bitching out when someone picks the same character as you, pussy.
Do you play smash by any chance? Just wondering.
Brandon Lee
>mentioning smash without any indications prior, when smash doesn't have any bearings on the current discussion at all.
Looking to deflect by going for the easiest way out, I see. If you think otherwise, you have no concept of how to either play mind games by conditioning your opponent, how to adapt and change strategies to punish openings, or how to stick to 1 character and get invested in knowing what the fuck you're doing (by learning what openings your character has and how to avoid being punished) and then taking pride in learning anything, much less a fucking video game. If you can't get invested in your hobby, what the fuck are you even doing there? Get the fuck out of my hobby, you hipster fuck. If you're going to act retarded, I'm going to treat you like a retard.
Michael Bell
Do this with every game genre. It's amusing and really makes me think.
Grayson Campbell
geneijin vs geneijin is the epitome of fighting games anyone who disagrees is a faggot
Adam Howard
>be lawbringer >get into a one vs one dual with a guy using peacekeeper >match starts and he tries to use his peacekeeper spam tactics *it isn't very useful after the nerf* >I kick his ass without getting too much damage and killed while he died three times >match ends and he wants a rematch >lolok >accept and again he uses peacekeeper >kick his ass again >he wants another rematch >lolok >this time he's using a berzerker >this is gonna be different >he tries to do his side spam attacks *lol goodluck with that mate* >kick his ass >he wants another rematch >LOLok >he picks kensai guy >oh this is going to be a bit of a challenge >he actually managed to get my health to go down alot but I still kick his ass >kill him on the final round and choke his character to death before snapping his neck ingame >he gets super pissed and tries peacekeeper >LOLOK >again I kick his ass ultimately crushing his hopes and dreams as each time I kill him >finish him off with a choke attack >*It's very effective* >get promoted and leave match before he asks for another rematch >tell him "goodfight" >no response but it sure does feel good to be a lawbringer
