Go to buy the new South Park game

>go to buy the new South Park game
>see it's only 20gb

I'm not paying $60 for only 20gb of files, that is absurd. How do they get away with this?

The repack is only 7 gigs.

I don't understand why you're complaining or is this some new meme?

>Shadows of war is 100 Gb
>therefore it's the best game ever

It's certainly more value for money.

>wanting an uncompressed 70gig of fart noises audio files

yes. its a horrible bit of meme-bait.

it is bait but raises an important point: big filesizes are encouraged by publishers, because bigger fileze=bigger game in the eyes of the average custumer.

you can see this repack reduced from 32 to less than 4 gigs, that's 8 times as much.
Fitgirl found a lot of redundant files and hypotized that was probably WB putting a mimumum filesize on the shit they publish, therefore the developer deliberately bloated it.
Because trust me, avalanche isnt that kind of incompetent PC developer, there had to be something behind this

Why does the filesize matter? Do you play with the bits or something?

>10kb textfile containing the key to your own eternal happiness and satisfaction
>10 dollars

LOL you think i am going to pay that much???? suck my diiiick

false guise of more space more content. i have a couple tbs so space isnt an issue. its lazy developement

There's full voiceover in a ton of languages so I guess that's why the game is big. 20gb seems fair to me, anything more than that is shit though

>because bigger fileze=bigger game in the eyes of the average custumer.

I doubt the average consumer even looks at filesize, especially since most play on console.

uhm consoles have had onboard storage for 3(?) gens now

To be fair thats 4 times larger than the stick of truth.

it's too discourage piracy and it worked pretty well for the first wolfenstein

You're an idiot.

I only own consoles and check how large a game is every time I install it.

who 'member when 1gb was massive for a game

What the fuck, really?
Does it have separate pre-rendered cutscenes for every language in the world or something?

Its 100 for the gold edition... makes the decision easy to NOT buy.

4k textures

>that time when only a couple games would fit in an average HDD

kek

I still remember that I bought Bioshock just because downloading the 8 gb or so would've taken me ages with my slow ass internet at the time.
Now I'm casually downloading 15 gb within a single afternoon. By 2020 games will probably reach 1 tb.

Forget the filesize, the DRM is the bigger issue, and linking the game to uPlay

>bigger fileze=bigger game in the eyes of the average custumer.

no, it's actually frowned upon by the average consumer and commonly seen as an anti piracy measure

Too bad it doesn't work as an anti-piracy measure because repacks
