SPINNING CUTTAH

Nice to see some Rogersbase footage in there, he's been pretty good about getting stuff for the community in general

AHHHHHH so excited, thank you OP

Should I watch and spoil? We haven't seen much to begin with tho

Some parts of the famitsu scans have been translated too

Intro:
Above the endless sea of clouds, live enormous wandering Titans that make up the world of Alrest.
Humans fled the cloud sea to the tops of the Titans.
However, the Titans grew old without anyone realizing, and began to sink beneath the clouds.
With nowhere left to flee, the humans grew worried, and the seeds of chaos took root.
Rex, a young Driver, and Pyra, the weaponized life-form Blade whose power he wields, head for the fabled utopian paradise known as “Elysium” that lies atop the world tree.

This game looks so good I can't wait any longer. I'm just glad I still have X to finish in the meantime. 2 is going to be amazing.

What happened? It's been a while since I used to be genuinely excited for games. But I've felt this way for pretty every major Switch release. Especially Chronicles 2.

The translations are probably not related to pages I post so sorry about that. This page has the intro And Rex/Pyra's bio

Gramps
Rex’s guardian and mentor on his journey. Though he usually stays inside Rex’s helmet, his true form is the small Titan “Azurda”, upon whose back Rex lives.
Rex
The protagonist of the game. He left his hometown of [Iyasaki Village], and now lives on Azurda, where he makes a living pulling up goods from below the cloud sea as a Salvager. He won’t ignore people in need, and is very considerate towards his friends.
“I’m in. Let’s go to Elysium! I’ll take you there myself!” [this quote was from the E3 trailer]
Pyra
The heroine of the game. The legendary Blade bearing an emerald core crystal, she’s also known as the “Aegis”. She accepts Rex as her Driver partner, and pleads with him to take her to her home, Elysium. Fire element.
“Rex, I have a request. Will you, take me to Elysium?”

3m25s

Why the fuck are there so many voices? The sound mixing is super weird, think they'll cut some lines so that it's less repetitive/noisy???

Nia
A Driver with cat-like ears who hails from Gormott. After caught up in a certain incident, she ends up joining Rex’s group. She’s very headstrong, and often butts heads with the similarly-aged Rex.
“Sure, sounds interesting. You’ve got me interested in this Elysium place. You sure it really exists?”
Dromarch
A Blade that accompanies Nia. Has the appearance of a beast, but speaks the same language as humans. He also refers to Nia as “my lady”, and has a polite, courteous demeanor. Nia can also ride him. Water element.
“My lady was most uncivilized. Please find it in your heart to forgive her”

Here's the pic

>come to a xenoblade
>complain how there are so many voices during battle

This must be your first time. I suggest starting with Xenoblade chronicles on the Wii and then Xenoblade Chronicles X for the WiiU

Nope, beaten Xenoblade 1 probably 5 times now. The music is louder in that game and there's about half the banter than in the preview builds of this one. You don't literally have 6 people talking nonstop, you have 3.

Tora
A young Nopon who yearns to be a Driver. Idolizes Rex after meeting him during his journey, and calls him “Rex-Rex”. Loves machines, and completed the artificial Blade Poppi, who was passed down in his family through three generations.
“Tora and Rex-Rex friends now! Hooray!”
[quote from screenshot]: This Tora’s masterpiece! Poppi, firstest artificial Blade in whole world!
Poppi
An artificial Blade created by Tora. Like Tora, she speaks in the strange way that Nopons do. Her metal body is packed with “a boy’s dreams”, but the details of those are a mystery.
“Poppi is called Poppi. It nice to meet you.”
[text near screenshot]: Blades are typically born from core crystals, but there are also artificial Blades such as Poppi. How might their abilities differ?
[note: Shin and Metsu will most likely not keep these names in the English version]
The mysterious organization, Torna
Torna, which does not belong to any country, is a mysterious group trying to accomplish a certain goal. Shin acts as their leader, but it is currently unknown who else makes up their ranks outside of Metsu, and their backgrounds are an enigma. They’re after the Aegis, Pyra, and stand in the way of her and her friends’ path to Elysium.
Shin
A masked swordsman who leads Metsu and others under Torna. Is after the Aegis, Pyra, for some reason. Is very calm and collected, but will do whatever it takes to reach his goals.
“Impressive. But those are just words. If that is what you truly wish, then back up those words with action!”
[quote in screenshot]: I’ll deal with that one, you go after the Aegis.
Metsu
A burly member of Torna. Despite his rough demeanor, he respects Shin’s decisions and follows his orders, earning him Shin’s deep trust. He’s also extremely skilled as a Driver, making for a formidable foe.
“Sorry, kid. I can’t let you use her power so recklessly.”

Meeting Blades
[...] and the Blades born are chosen randomly. The unusual and powerful Rare Blades are born more easily from higher rarity crystals.

Common Blades
The frequently found Common Blades are chosen from these four forms, and their abilities, weapon and names are all randomly assigned.

I'M ON FIRE! SHARLA DID YOU SEE ME? DID YOU SEE WHAT I DID?

And here is the twitter update for today
twitter.com/XenobladeJP/status/920907469173354496
Today we introduce members of mysterious Torna group who are after Pyra! First is leader, Shin(JP voice: Takahiro Sakurai). Shin mysterious swordsman who wear mask. He very calm, but full of intenseness and will do everything it take to reach goals.

twitter.com/XenobladeJP/status/920907676934008833

And here member #2, Metsu(JP voice: Nakamura Yuuichi). He big rough man, not like Shin at all. He also super powerful Driver, and look super scary!

Good thread OP, i don't have a lot of time rn, which videos should i watch?

Will the generic blades still be able to compete with the unique ones? Im gonna be upset if the weapon system turns into a gatcha run just to get the uniques because they far overpower the generics

The game vlog ones first than the gamexplain one

It's me or the blades are pointless in fight?
Look at Pyra, she's standing still behind Rex, her arm extended, doing nothing except one or two emotes once in a while.
I feel like it adds a lot to the screen clutter.

>half the banter

It's kind of hard thing to say because there was always someone talking over the gameplay footage

They use buffs during the fight and use special artes.

more like Roger's BASED

I'm digging Nia's voice.

SPINNIIIIIING...

Chances that they did the rare Blade reveal early this week so they could show off Metsu's Blade tomorrow?

What? There was no one talking over the footage in the OP's videos, user.

Looks great.
She sounds a little too old imo. I'm Welsh myself and she sounds like a 30 year old.

HAELIN' 'AYLO!

The Blade and the person-Blade are one and the same, the person-forme provides energy to the weapon-forme

Shin's line here in the English version is likely "If you know what you desire, you will have to show it. Not with words but with your own strength!" as heard in the trailer.

nice clipping

...

The Blades are the ones who do the special attacks, elemental attacks, and chain attacks.

>Torna, which does not belong to any country, is a mysterious group trying to accomplish a certain goal

I get that, but do they have to stand still like they're waiting for their bus to arrive?
I feel like they should have transformed into their weapons instead of being present, doing nothing.

With the Japanese voice patch Fire Emblem is getting I feel this is going to be how Nintendo is going to handle it. Keeping game size down by removing Japanese audio and just patching them in.
>Wanted to try out recording in 4.0
>Only game I really have is Puyo Puyo Tetris and seem like recording doesn't work
Damn it.

What will happen to Rex's arm?

Because there's some gameplay mechanic with the tethers connecting the Drivers and Blade, and you couldn't see those if the Blades turned into weapons.

Also, the Blades are going to be participating in cutscene battles, so that would be inconsistent and probably lead to complaints about them being invisible in in-game battles most of the time. There's not really a whole lot they can have the Blades do outside of being the ones that deliver the powerful attacks, as having 6 characters all attacking with their own stats and stuff would be too hectic and require a lot more balancing and the like.

>left his hometown of [Iyasaki Village]
Well well. Where might that be? I figured he'd have some mysterious origin where his parents died and Azurda has been raising for the longest or something.

>Because there's some gameplay mechanic with the tethers connecting the Drivers and Blade
Didn't knew that, interesting.
Do you need, like, always keep the tether visible, or don't block the line with a monster or something?

>Loves machines, and completed the artificial Blade Poppi, who was passed down in his family through three generations.
Sounds like he comes from a family of engineers and he completed their lifelong work. Not as impressive as building Poppi from scratch, but kinda heartwarming. Bana's totally gonna have his blueprints stolen though.

I really wanna "ride" dromarch

It has something to do with you and your Blade's affinity. We're not really sure what's the significance yet.

Combat is boring to watch but the environment looks great

>[note: Shin and Metsu will most likely not keep these names in the English version]
They might. The localizers have mostly left Driver names alone and Torna has a samurai aesthetic that makes Japanese stuff fitting in their case.

Anchuh Shot! HAH!

When do you think Pyra will betray Rex? Endgame, midgame or somewhere in between?

Can anybody place Poppi's accent in these? Is it an American or a really rhotic southern English? If the former then it could be possible that American accents are a trait of Blades. In which case we've got some dub original foreshadowing with Torna.

Dromarch sounds English, though. Also remember that Poppi's an artificial Blade.

Poppi is an artificial Blade created by a (southern?) English accented Driver fanboy. Odds are she would either talk like him or he would deliberately code her to talk like other Blades for authenticity.

Also, we've speculated that Dromarch's VA might be a particular American guy who lives in the UK but does British accents pretty well. I forget his name.

Make your choice.

>Also, we've speculated that Dromarch's VA might be a particular American guy who lives in the UK but does British accents pretty well. I forget his name.
Yeah, and he's still doing a British accent, not an American one.

Getting an American to do a British accent might be kind of a meta thing. Remember that all this accent distinction is an invention of the dub so there are no hard rules beyond whatever they decide.

>TOIM TUH TAKE YEUGH DEOWN

LOL NO JP VOICE PACK OR DROPPED

I guess, although I still feel it doesn't work to say that American accents are a trait for all Blades when we've heard one who doesn't have that accent, regardless of where his VA was born. It still dismantles any in-universe pattern.

MAKE HASTE AND RETREAT!

MEH MEH MEH

>Humans
>Not Homs

youd know a lot about being dropped, autist

Confirmed as a different world yet again.

DAMN! THEY'VE SPOTTED US!

Is this one of those games that you're not allowed to criticize unless you want to be insulted?
Screams FFXV fanbase all over again

this your first day on Sup Forums, kiddo?

Obviously you werent here for the xbx vs. ffxv threads which means you need to lurk more before posting

End of the mid game, that way after she betrays God for the D you can have her back for the last dungeon.

Can you turn of the voices? fucking eh these people are annoying to listen to over and over again.

If you happen to go outside within the next year or so, I want you to find a group of people who are talking about something they like and start spouting trivial garbage about why its not good and them report back with how you're treated.

Almost like this game has no relation to the first game, eh?

>Poppi metal body is packed with “a boy’s dreams”
What did they mean with this?

...

Tora filled her up with his dream.

She wants to be the little boy

Robot loli waifu are the best.

Bing has been such an amazing gift to us.

MEH

Jesus. That voice acting hurts my ears.
Hope this gets dual audio like the first fucking game.

Aside from that, it looks fucking good desu.

This is honestly nothing. Try dropping in a Boku no Hero Academia thread on Sup Forums sometimes.

I really liked the robots it was like the through-line of Xeno and now it's gone it feels empty. So I'm still cautious.

Im guessing they'll a thematic equivalent in the way that people interact with the flying beasts-islands

The first Xenoblade didn't even have any ones you could use, so I don't think it's a very big deal.

The equivalent is the Titans that Mor Ardain has been giving mechanical augments. And the ones that are being used as airships.

...

This is depressing.

So, it still had cool robots.

Its never about being able to use them but just being in the same room with them.

If the only reason you care about Xenoblade is because of giant robots, then I hope no Xeno games ever have mechs again.

If you hope that then I guess I'll just have to hope for mediocre sales and no sequels.

The robots are the main reason I even played Xeno in the first place. Xeno's whole gimmick was like JRPG but with cool robots. Now it's like just generic JRPG and that's saddening. Robots are it's soul.

we did get robots tho

Xenoblade wasn't even meant to be a Xeno game it was originally just Monado. Calling X Xenoblade when it actually is a Xeno game was bananas.

Actually...

>FE:W is getting a Japanese voice pack
>Zelda got a Japanese voice pack

Alright, now I have a bit of faith

>it was originally just Monado
We all already know this, but it had cool robots so why not call it Xeno?

I mean look at this guy, he's just so cool looking. If it weren't for the magical floating joints that'd make this impossible I'd love a toy of this guy.

The virgin humanoid vs the chad turtloid

reminder that we've only seen a substantial amount of the first hour of the game and seen a combined minute from the rest of it and there could easily be mechs. Mor Ardain looks like it's directly controlled by humans, even.

It wasn't even revealed that Faces in XC1 were mechs until a bit before the halfway point.

>Xeno is the only JRPG with robots
Also it's still science fantasy, which is unique.

How could it all come to this...

Its not a boy robot.

The inventors shifted from humans to nopon.
