Are you guys ready for Diamond/pearl remakes on the Switch?
Are you guys ready for Diamond/pearl remakes on the Switch?
not platinum?
Time for a Generation 8 Switch game!
Nope, enjoy not having any of Platinum's fixes to DP's shit writing.
So, we can definitely expect Pokemon Switch, 2018, right?
Hopefully not. Give GF time to unfuck the franchise.
2019
I don't see them releasing 3 games in back-to-back years.
>writing
Literally not important at all
Id cry if this were to happen
>2010 HGSS
>2011 BW
>2012 BW2
>2013 XY
???
Doubtful. All this means is that Nintendo will be releasing a new handheld successor to the 3DS soon.
>Mainline
>a fucking tablet is meant to be the next nintendo handheld
I fucking hope so
you refer to them as DP like you should user!! grr arg!
>The last pokemon I'll play is the only generation I didn't enjoy.
Good bye lads it was fun.
Don't start on the Switch hate. The two are not competeting against each other here.
>nintendo discontinuing the 3ds with no handheld replacement
>constantly market switch as being portable and a console
>not competing
>Implying it wasn't amazing seeing another celestial get pissed at some retard trying to destroy reality and eating the fucker.
2019 is more likely since the current cycle has been three years between gens. Then DP remakes in 2020.
you can't compete if you're already dead :^)
Yes, "mainline" as in, the actual RPG games. 3DS might still get spin-offs or something.
Go by Japanese releases.
The 3DS isn't discontinued, though? Nintendo said they're supporting it through all of next year. There's time to announce a new handheld.
Wake me up when the Switch is as hacked as the 3DS
>people ITT genuinely don't think the Switch is meant to replace the 3DS
>even though the next mainline Pokemon game is being developed for it
>even though the Switch is fucking portable
They merged their console and handheld divisions together a few years back.
Oh no, we won't be playing 240p on the go and we're stuck with such lameduck games as BREATH OF THE WILD and SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY. The 3DS just came out in 2011! How can they be so cruel?!
I can't believe the 3DS survived this long.
see
That said, I think 2019 is probably more likely for Pokemon Switch. I just dont think the game will be ready for next year.
Nintendo will fill the gap by releasing R/S/E on 3DS e-shop (and possibly FR/LG too as you can't complete the gen 3 pokedex without them)
That just pushes every game back a year until BW2, at which point they started doing simultaneous global releases.
>Platinum 2008
>HGSS 2009
>BW 2010
There, still three years in a row.
>3DS successor
Can't wait
I could have sworn Ultra Sun and Moon were on the Switch
It was announced as a 2018 title, so its coming unless they delay it. Likely been working on it for a few years, they have multiple teams.
thank fuck
My biggest fear was to have the DP remakes on that fucking handheld.
Merging without people being laid off doesn't mean anything. It just means it would be easier to port games over from one to another like HW and Smash Bros. Nintendo has no reason to combine the two as it eliminates an entire profit line. And as the WiiU has shown, having a seperate handheld division let's them have some form of insurance against bad console sales.
>Nintendo will fill the gap by releasing R/S/E on 3DS e-shop (and possibly FR/LG too as you can't complete the gen 3 pokedex without them)
They don't have GBA games on the 3DS, barring those who got the ambassador games. If they do put them on 3DS, they'll be New-only, so I won't care anyway.
>caring about plot
>in pokemon of all games
It doesn't fit in my pocket and it has no games, it's not a portable
vg247.com
I'd be surprised if it's out in 2018 since that would be the shortest release window between gens, even back to the Game Boy games.
FUCK THIS WORLD
>mfw for a long time I though ftw stood for fuck this world
>mfw I also thought mfw stood for mother fucking whore
The originals are better import wise anyway. There's a few Pokemon that need gen 3 move tutors or look nice in Safari balls and that's it import wise.
Ah yes, the retards who think there's going to be a new handheld have arrived.
When the entire fucking point of the Switch is to be BOTH a console and a handheld.
Holy fuck, you autists are so fucking dense. Do you not realize the handheld market has been killed by phones already? The Switch has replaced BOTH the Wii U and 3DS. End of story. There isn't going to be a SECOND handheld because that goes against everything the Switch stands for
>so uhhh guys, look we have a new handheld
>but isn't the Switch already a handheld?
>Yeah but this is ANOTHER handheld
????
The DS line has lasted for a long time, user. It's really time for it to take a nice long break like its predecessor already.
7th gen was a mistake anyway, rushed and disappointing. The more quickly we move on the better.
Only thing that even makes a little sense would be a smaller, cheaper, portable-only Switch that maybe also plays 3DS games or something. Nintendo is absolutely not going to release a second new handheld with its own separate games.
Switch and 3DS go well together, having both gives Nintendo and other devs a wide range of games they can make. 3DS can still host lower-budget or experimental games that perhaps are too risky to spend more money and time developing for the Switch or another platform.
The 3DS is dead. Every dev is moving on to the Switch already. FE devs also confirmed Echoes was the last FE for 3DS.
Only a matter of time until it gets phased out next year without any noteworthy releases. Just quietly die like the DS did in 2012 after B2W2
This will be my last Pokemon game, then.
Because I don't plan to get a Switch.
You will get one. You're not fooling anyone.
I said "wow lmao the 3DS is a piece of shit" back in 2011 and ended up getting one in 2013.
>The 3DS is dead
Selling better than last year.
And yes Nintendo is going to release a new handheld successor, they are not going to rely on a "premium device market" only
>People still think the Switch is going to replace the DS.
People play with their phones outside. The handheld market is dead. That's why being a handheld is a Switch feature.
I'm not getting one, I don't care about the Switch at all.
Sure bud. Bet you'll still tell yourself that when they reveal the Lite version.
so how long until they announce switch lite with longer lasting battery for enhanced portability?
Manufacturing costs will go down on the Switch and it'll eventually fall into the same region as the 3DS.
A hypothetical "Switch Mini" could reduce costs further by removing the need for the dock and detachable controllers.
Even if they did, it wouldn't change my mind one bit.
>The 3DS is dead.
Says who? Because sales say otherwise. Why wouldn't Nintendo keep supporting it? It has a good install base, games are cheap to develop for it and again its still selling well. It's better for them to have two platforms, they can keep making safe, low-budget 3DS games while focusing more on the Switch. It offers two price-points for customers, if they don't want the $300 Switch and its $60 games they can get a $80-150 2/3DS and its $30-40 games.
>You want Nintendo to release something weaker than the switch and slap a handheld sticker on it for $200
There's no point for them to do that, maybe if the switch wasn't portable and was around $400.
IMO soon.
I do believe they'll have a Vita sized switch that's meant for on the go playing that will replace their 3DS and the normal switch will just remain as the home version
The fact they've said they're working on a mainline game for the Switch rules this out completely. Why would they make one game then move back to handhelds?
You keep saying this but people are still buying and playing their 3DS. Phones can never be a true gaming handheld replacement because of the lack of actual controllers, lack of vents, and now ridiculously more expensive.
It will come out the same day as Pokemon Switch. There will obviously be a bundle for the new Switch with Pokemon. That bundle will be the best selling consumer electronic for Christmas 2018
Nintendo themselves said that the Switch isn't replacing their handheld market.
>people above the age of 12 still play porkymons
Sad.
>hurrrf durrrf why would Nintendo abandon the DS??? it has a 150 million userbase!!!
You know what else Nintendo said? That the Switch wouldn't replace the Wii U. And they also said they'd never develop mobile games.
Not possible whatsoever. The Switch and the Joycons are packed as hell. If you want it smaller, you would need to remove a lot of features or more it more expensive.
Nintendo also said the ds line wasn't replacing the gameboy line.
You have to be 18 or older to post here, user.
>And yes Nintendo is going to release a new handheld successor
No, they fucking won't, they'll just keep supporting the 3DS until it stops being worth selling and developing for.
>Hey, let's chuck that 66+m install base out the window and splinter our Switch market with a new handheld that's probably only going to be $50-100 cheaper than the Switch and will appeal to the same market we already have the Switch for anyway!
>OH! And let's start splintering our development teams again to support two different platforms and cause game droughts for both!
You're a moron.
Nintendo has said the same shit multiple times for previous systems so faggots keep buying the old system and then once the old system doesn't sell anymore and they stop making games for it then they abandon it.
They hired more people for that game. If there isn't an actual DS successor coming, they would have simply used the same team.
He didn't say smaller, he just said a better battery life. That could be done without making the model smaller or increasing price.
Does anyone know if ultra sun/moon will be an entirely new storyline? Or is it just the same shit with a few added 'side story' bits?
nintendo seems to have a different opinions considering it was marketed as such
How much better can it get? If it gets any better and without costing more, they might as well switch over to the battery industry and sell these magical super efficient batteries. They'll make billions before the year is over.
All I want is to be able to see the nature and IV's of pokes when trading.
It was marketed as a portable home console. It even says as such on their Switch homepage.
It simply makes no fucking sense.
Why would they release a second product to directly compete with the one they already fucking have?
And this is probably the best reason they won't do it, the whole fucking point of the Switch was to consolidate development and not have to support two platforms at once, causing game droughts for one or both platforms.
Or it goes full Samsung and the magical experimental technology explodes and kills millions of children.
portable being the keyword
What game droughts? They have entire long running franchises for games for either system as well as one of the few developers that actually consistently put out new IP, successful or not. And with them doing crossovers, they don't need to consolate their systems because of lack of game ideas.
I would finally have a reason to buy a switch.
>What game droughts?
You're fucking hilarious.
So is home. What's your point?
point is that it's both.
portable included.
Yes, but people still play the Switch at their home most of the time. People are not about to be bringing them out a majority of the time like they are with the 3DS. People are playing their Switch on their bed and on their toilet. It is made to be played with people's home in mind where as the 3DS are made with traveling out in mind.
still not buying a switch
>What game droughts?
Are you being serious?
Wii U launched with fucking nothing, and continued to have fucking nothing for at least a year and a half. 3DS launched with fucking nothing and continued to have fucking nothing until Nintendo scrambled and pulled a 3D World spin-off and MK7 out of their asses for holiday 2011.
It not like tablets are rare for gen z the switch fits right in the new age.
Full 3D pokemon game get one step near to your pokemon online VR dream.
Montreal canada fag here
On our subways daily i see about ten people playing their switches. Ive only ever seen 3ds around pokemon releases
Tfw we'll never get another Battle Network or Starforce game
Nintendo has released more than enough games for the two systems. Don't confused the lack of third party support with the lack of first/second party game.
and I'm sure they're gonna use the same excuse to release a new portable if the switch fails
but right now it's in that awkward, limbo situation where it's neither a hit like the wii nor a blunder like the wiiu
Do you have any numbers that tell us how much time people spend with their 3DS both in and out of the house? Because that's important information. I play my 3DS at home most of the time.
I had a feeling they were going to be retiring the 3ds during the Switch's lifetime, but it does make me wonder where they go from here
And I haven't seen anyone play with their Switch in public but did see a few DS on the subway.
>if the switch fails
Hahahahaha. Dat delusion.
Good. Fuck those games for getting more attention and care from Capcom than ZX.
you say as if it was doing tremendously well
sure, it's not as bad as the wiiu, but nintendo wasn't happy with the gc and the switch is about as popular
if I had to guess I'd say the switch only further cemented what nintendo always has been: a niche market for mario
All I have is that poll linked above about where people play their Switch. I mean, DS has spotpass and download mode so people are encouraged to go out with it. I personally have brought my DS/3DS out a majority of the time I owned them so unless you give me some time to look up any info about it, not much else I can say about it.
