Before we start arguing about how OP called it "Game of the Decade," let's try and keep shitposting to a minimum and have a good ol' hype thread.
>What do you want to see (within reason)?
>What crazy far out shit do you want to see?
>Favorite things revealed so far?

Lools like shit, 3D World was shit, the Galaxies and Sunshine were shit. 64 is the only good Mario game, and it was by accident.

>the switch will have a total of TWO GAMES soon
Sure is exciting, Nintenbros! Happy 4 u.

Decade of the Manchild

It must be sad be a shitposter. Imagine having a discussion about hobbies with someone, and in your mind, you're thinking about how you go online to try to get a rise out of people you don't know by making fun of things you don't like/pretend not to like. Must drop your self worth to 0.

When is the preload up

More like 'Super Mario Oughta see you play a better game.'

cry more

Upload of the full Jump Up Superstar song where?

no preload apparently

should be up on iTunes now
Japan

>want to replay 64 and Galaxy games before Odyssey comes out
>left them all in my mom's house when I disowned her
>local not-Gamestop doesn't have them
what do?

>Favorite things revealed so far?
Just a new SM64 game like this is the best. Anyway, I'm gonna play FE warriors until this game comes out. See you guys next week.

I just want a Galaxy collection to come out for Switch

What's with all this fake hype?

>fake

3D Mario Platformers are rare so people get actually hyped.

Lead-up to the artificial sales, artificial GOTYs and artificial money.

It’s not fake it’s just old now. Sup Forumsaggots won’t stop making the exact same thread over and over so there’s literally nothing left to say or do until next friday

SAY IT WITH ME:

BING BING W

>so there’s literally nothing left to say or do until next friday
Reviews come up on Thursday.

>Hearing Jump Up, Superstar over and over

Actually, there's a bit that kind of stuck out to me in the song.

>Take a turn, off the path
>Find a new addition to the cast,

I got curious over it and read a bit more into the lyrics and apparently, MarioWiki seems to think the line's about Cappy. But then I remembered all the times Mario went might've went off path and got new friend(s) (Daisy, Wario, Rosalina, ect), so maybe it's that instead. Or maybe it's the songs' way to foreshadow into something that might happen later in the game?

Who knows, with so many people taking "Oh, we can zoom all the way to the moon" as foreshadowing to the Moon itself being reachable in the game, it's not too far'fetched.

So today? Or next Thursday. What good will the reviews even do, they’re all gonna be the usual 10/10 that every Mario game gets

First time I'll use itunes in ages. Are they gonna release on Google Play today too?

That's why it's so fun

I'm gonna be really disappointed if this turns out to be another 3D mario game instead of game of the decade.

user I think people have been using the moon's heavy prevalence in the game as foreshadowing, not a lyric in a song.

Fuck off with that forced meme

saw this during 3d
thought the whole hat body possession would get stupid seeing as it looks completely separate from the actual game's system. I should be able to do all the worlds and lvls without ghosting on to anything
not even spin power from mario galaxy felt disconnected
flood from sunshine is an extension to mario already set skills
hat possession just felt stupid
im find with using the hat as a weapon or as an extra pad to jump from but i just can't get over possession

it will be an interesting mario game but atleast don't have to jarringly pretend to like something like breath of the wild. i would't even consider that a zelda game. It was more of a massive bench test to see how much the switch is capable of in turns of physics and open lvls.

Is anyone on the fence with this game? I'm convinced, but I wanna know why some people may not be.

Galaxy 1+2 HD for Switch were confirmed

I know that, but that particular bit of the lyrics apparently stuck to some anons as well, which only adds more fuel to the Moon/Honeymoon Kingdom hype train, alongside the whole Power Moons thing.

I don't really want to outright believe it'll happen, I don't want to be let down by something I deluded myself into, but it's interesting seeing people theorize about it, alongside Mario and Peach possibly getting married.

>paying for music

W H E N

He's lying to you.

I'm hoping the pre-load option is available before Friday.

But they just added preloading support in today's update

okay, now where's the mega link

>digital

I'm going digital too. I feel like this is a game I will come back o a lot, so I don't want to have to fumble with switching carts. And I don't want the clutter of a bunch of cases around my house

Yes, yes, everything new is bad, we gotcha. SM64 is the only good Mario game, OoT and MM are the only good Zeldas, and all that. Everyone oa just "pretending" to enjoy hundreds of hours of BotW, and Odyssey will get millions of "pretend" fans, too.

>And I don't want the clutter of a bunch of cases around my house
One shelf. It is what was once called a "library". Do you think people who read a lot just leave books lying about everywhere?

Building a library you'll always have is not important to modern players, they'd rather pay for glorified rentals through PS+ or XBLG and rent digital games that will no longer be downloadable in ten years.

I get that, but I still don't want it. It's just a waste of space, as I don't find the cases to be of any sentimental value. If I really like a piece of media, I'll get a poster or some other decoration to display it, instead of a case

Digital means you're basically renting it. When servers are gone, so is your game. Want to play it again in ten years or so, but need a new Switch or SD card or something? Too bad, can't re-download the game you paid for.

Just chuck the case if you don't want it, physical will always be better than digital.

I was originally going to get this game digital but I heard horror stories from Splat2n midnight. The Best Buy near me is doing a midnight anyway so I'll just grab it then.

Zelda has been the only physical game I own but I got the true ending last night so I'm ok retiring it for a while.

When's the last time you saw this much advertising for a console and its games on Sup Forums?

>game of the decade
>not GTAV
keep dreaming

>GTA V
>better than GTA IV

keep dreaming

anyone else bothered by the fact everyone, literally everyone, in the jump up super star video is white?

>disowned her
You don't drop a bombshell like that without going into detail, user.

Eh, there are relatively few games I want to replay decades later, and if I do, I'm okay buying a physical copy, should everything go to hell. Plus, nintendo hardware lasts forever

not even the direction i was going with but alteast there was an attempt to read my post.

I think it's referencing the exploration aspect of the game, since "new addition to the cast" could mean an enemy you can capture, a friendly NPC, a shop owner, etc

Alternatively it's just a general lyric about how many different characters Mario's met throughout his 35+ years of games

But their servers don't. The Wii Shop is closing soon, anything anyone bought there will not be replaceable. Deleted a game or two to make space? Sorry, gone forever, even though you paid money for it. The same will happen to every console eventually.

I guess I just don't get this mindset, that you're going to pay for a game but not want it to have near-permanent longevity, to be able to pick it up again at any point in the future, like you would with basically any other product you buy. I still have lots of games from when I was younger, I could plug in any of my old consoles or play my GB and all the games I had are still there, just as I left them 10-20 years ago. Won't be able to do that with digital games, I really, really do not approve of paying for games that are essentially on a timer, that will only be playable for a certain window of time before I can potentially no longer play it. It's almost planned obsolescence.

OoT and MM are the best Zeldas, though

I played the demo and enjoyed it. I wish I could do the directional hat tosses with the grip, though.

To add, even physical games that require huge updates day-one will get fucked.

If I buy a used copy of, say, FO4 (not that I ever would) years down the line but servers for the necessary updates aren't up anymore, I'm fucked. I'm not okay with games having expiration dates tied to online connectivity when it absolutely does NOT need to be that way.

When I buy a physical copy of a film, it's not reliant on internet connection to function properly, I'll still be able to watch it in 10 years even if I get a new player and/or copy of the film. Why should games be different?

I don't see why you have so much of an issue with it. I pay to see movies in a theater, and I don't have a problem with not being able to see them again. And you saying "what happens if something breaks and you need to redownload the game but can't" is pretty silly. What happens if your cartridge gets lost or damaged? What happens when you can't redownload patches when the servers are down? And how many 10-20 year old games do you expect me to replay in my lifetime. I have my physical copy of twewy, and I can realistically emulate all of the other classics I care about

By the time that happens I can pirate these games on that console, so that's another reason NOT to buy digital.

>I don't see why you have so much of an issue with it
Because I'm paying money for a product that is essentially on a timer. And until very recently, this wasn't the case. I have all my old carts, discs and consoles, none of which require an internet connection to function properly. There's no reason for it to be this way, it offers absolutely zero benefits to me, the end-user, beyond immediate convenience that stops mattering once I've downloaded the game.

>And you saying "what happens if something breaks and you need to redownload the game but can't" is pretty silly.
No, its not, see above. I don't have this problem with older games. I buy the game, its mine forever. I buy a car, its mine forever. I buy a movie, its mine forever. If they break, I can fix or replace them.

>What happens if your cartridge gets lost or damaged?
I could buy a new cart and use it on the same console, or if the console breaks I could buy a new one and use the same copy of the game I already own.

But a digital game? Nope. Console or HDD breaks? Can't transfer licenses or re-download the game(s), lost forever. Bought a used game I hadn't played before? Too bad, no crucial, game-fixing updates for me. Bought a game on a console that's not the one I'm playing on now? Sorry, your game won't work without authentication! Game requires certain firmware to play? Sorry, can't update your console anymore!

>What happens when you can't redownload patches when the servers are down?
see
>393939674
and above, I hate that shit too. Digital distribution was a mistake.

tl;dr: There's no legitimate reason to tie basic functionality to internet connectivity and I don't understand how younger players don't get this.

>I don't understand how younger players don't get this
I'm not a younger player, but you can tell yourself that instead of realizing that not everyone needs to carefully catalog every piece of media they ever encounter. But enjoy the decades worth of shit that you will never actually revisit. And I hope your CD player doesn't skip too much while you're out and about!

>HURR DURR ur just an autist, enjoy ur shit!
Well, I thought we were having a nice, friendly discussion, but if you're going that route then fuck you too.

Enjoy your streamed games in ten years, I guess.

youtube.com/watch?v=cZQdQ4KFsLI
The gameplay is nice and all, but where is the plataforming? It looks like the moons are just like korok seeds in the way you find them too

>But enjoy the decades worth of shit that you will never actually revisit
This shows you clearly ARE a younger player, or at least started way late, likely in the PS2 or PS3 days. I replay older games all the time, personally. SNES, NES, Genesis, N64, PS, GC, Gameboy, the odd atari or coleco game, etc. I also play new stuff and keep current.

Well, yeah, that's the Sandbox Mario gamea for you. That is why some prefer 64 or Sunshine, while others prefer 3D World and the Galaxy games. But all of them are fantastic games.

Emulate, nigga.

This game is literally Banjo Kazooie with a Mario skin. I'm okay with that.

Yeah, great discussion when you ignore the shit that contradicts your argument and go on and on about your perspective as if it is the only one. Most games can flawlessly be emulated within 10 years of their release. The only ones worth keeping physically are those that can't be. Namely, DS games

I didnt play Sunshine, but this has nothing to do with Mario 64 way of getting stars/moons

Nope, but fill your house with shit if you want. I just got rid of the useless consoles and emulate my games. They run better and have better features and modability. No need to be a nostalgic clutterfag

does it not make you think sometimes why a chubby dwarf italian plumber in his late 20's/early 30's is an amazing parkourer?

A

somebody pls share

to be fair, 64's platforming is for the most part not that intense. I replayed it earlier this year, most of the first half of the game has stages that make it so you can't even die.

>argument
Dude, I'm not arguing, I'm just explaining how I came to the conclusion I came to, why I think digital games are a waste of money when you could buy physical instead. What is going on with you?

>There's no legitimate reason to tie basic functionality to internet connectivity and I don't understand how younger players don't get this.
You went on a diatribe to prove this. You were making an argument. Do you seriously not know the definition of the word? You can google it if you need help

mario's fit

he's super

>in his late 20s/early 30s

what? haha don't tell me that's what his canon age is kek

Hoping he's in the game.

What are the odds that in the final battle, both Bowser and Mario can try to Capture each other leading to a little minigame where the two of you fight for control of the body to either run them into a wall to dislodge the hat or run them into some spikes to do damage.

>Clearly explaining your reasoning so the person to whom you are addressing can clearly understand you is "going on a diatribe"
Okay, sweetie. I guess you're just baiting for an argument now.

Yeah, but that moons are way to easy... Stomp a sand dune? get the 3 moons in the roulette? Talk to some dude and run in circle once? Korok seeds are like that... Look under some rocks, solve some really simple puzzles, dumb tier shit like that (thats why theres like 900 of them). But making part of the main moons stuff like that is going to be real bad... I much rather have some great levels that arent necessarily hard, but have some interesting ways of finding the moons (interesting in gameplay, not just the concept of the way you get it).

hes canonically 24, same with Luigi and Waluigi and presumably Wario and Peach

>Wario is 24

you know diatribe also just means "prolonged discourse"? Maybe toughen up your fragile feelings and strengthen up your vocabulary before you try to interact with someone again

Alright prolonged discourse aside, let's talk scientology!

If the desert level is any indication, the worlds are big, but progression through them is linear. Each chunk of progress in a world is rewarded with a moon, while the rest are "side quests".

>tfw all the money I'll make on Nintendo stock after this sells 5 million artificial copies by December 30 will be fake

Man, many of 64's were literally sitting there to be grabbed, with little to no platforming beyond a normal jump or two to reach them. Or beating a "boss" that involves jumping on a big bully once while facing the edge of a raised platform. The first star you even see in the game is gotten by ground pounding a post 3 times in front of it.

>It was more of a massive bench test to see how much the switch is capable of in turns of physics and open lvls.
You know it's a port of a Wii U game, right? They've been working on it for the Wii U's entire lifespan.

39/40

So the objective is pretty much going from point A to point B, but with freedom to run around and explore, and by doing that, getting more moons? Its interesting, but I dont know if thats what Id like for the next Mario like 64...

Ok... It sure had its bad stars, but there were some memorable too... Ill always remember getting the baby penguin to his mother star, loved that as a kid hahah
