Is official: Survival Horror genre is dead

>TEW2 sold poorly
>Same with Alien: Isolation
>Fatal Frame forgotten
>Silent Team disbanded
>Dead Space team disbanded
>Sony ignores Siren
>The rest are pixel indie shit or Amnesia clones
What else? only Capcom seems to be surviving but I´m afraid they don´t have the talent to remake RE2.

>Same with Alien: Isolation
It didn't sell poorly at all SEGA's just fucking stupid

Well if this makes you happy Capcom is very pleased with RE7.

>The rest are pixel indie shit or Amnesia clones

Darkwood and Teleglitch is god-tier you uncultural swine

Evil Within 2 sold like shit because it was pushed out the door by Bethesda. The first game also burned many many bridges so it stands to reason that alot of people will be waiting for sales or price drops. At least the sale projections should be lower because of the money saved on marketing.

Its not just horror either Ive bought fuck all this season and don't plan to buy anything before the year is out apart from Mario.

I wanna play some spoopy game. Steam halloween sale WHEN?

Mikami should stop trying to ride the success of RE4 and make a spiritual sucessor of his REAL masterpiece.

Obscure 1 and 2 are in steam, funny coop horror games.

Alien Isolation made its money back, its just that profits were slim.

Also the biggest factor for a lot of people is all the other games coming out.
I mean fuck Mario is only a week away.

>coop
>horror
Does not compute. Its literally impossible to have a horror multiplayer.

Is a classic survival horror, it´s like a classic RE but with two (you have to be in the same screen though), was pretty fun and challenging in high difficult plus your character can die any time, it had a lot of potential as a saga. This and RE: Outbreak are examples of horror games with good coop.

Seconding this. Pretty underrated.
It's the horror high-school b-movie of games, both figuratively and literally.
Plus, characters suffer from perma-death, so that's a stress factor.

evil within 2 is trash though

The ost was pretty great too
>It's the horror high-school b-movie of games, both figuratively and literally.
It was The Faculty: the game
Exploring the school feels pretty great and characters were good too. Hated they didn´t do Obscure 3 with that Obscure 2 ending.

It was from that era where Fatal Frame, Rule of Rose, SH3, Haunting Ground existed
Heck even the psp port of Obscure 2 was pretty good.

>tfw the ending of Obscure 2 is most likely the reason I have a hyperpreg and belly inflation fetish
It feels weird to reminisce about the game with that in mind

horror =/= scary

A scary situation becomes considerably less scary when you're with a friend,
A horror scenario does not become less horror when you're with a friend.

this

Last game I was excited for was MGSV, theres been fuck all this year apart from Nier and even that was disappointing

The genre has been dying because nobody seems to want to make games that adhere to the rules of the genre. You get games that are too cinematic or just RE4 clones with more gore and little need to worry about item conservation or strategy beyond "shoot until dead."

holy shit, darkwood is out? I remember buying that game over 1,5 years ago and being dissapointed with it, mainly because I didn't realize it was early access until I already played a few hours of it.

Hope it is good now.

>The rest are pixel indie shit or Amnesia clones
oh you ignorant child.

Fucking this.

I don't know how many they were expecting but 2.1 million hardly seems weak. It's not like it's a huge game in terms of scope.

It sold 2-4 million on ps3, ps4, pc, xbox 360, and Xbox One. SEGA is retarded for not making a sequel. The game only needs asset creation, like 3 enemy variants, smarter AI with bigger rooms. They have a game engine that has room to grow and are sitting on it.

When has sega ever done a good decision? As much as I lives AI I had to resign myself that sega will never try to make a sequel cause they have the marketing sense of nintendo

>Fatal Frame forgotten
It solds very well on Wii U. And this game was gorgeous.

>tfw no wii u to play it and no switch port in sight
>emulation also isn't looking favourable so far

>tfw updated my graphics card driver and now AI.exe stops working when I fire up the game
SERIOUSLY FUCKING AMD AFGHASHKDVGA

Genre is simply too niche, and there is a lot of elitism surrounding it; you can't really afford to be picky.

Both RE7 and TEW2 where great this year.

>TEW2 sold poorly

The sequel to a disappointing, badly optimised and generally bad game sold bad ? No shit...

>And this game was gorgeous.
It wasn't. The worst game in the series, even worse than 3DS one.
