Fun fact

Fun fact.
No vidya character can beat The Thing.
If The Thing got into a city and began infecting humans and animals left and right their is not one vidya character out their who could stop it.
Go ahead name me one.

eve

Alex Mercer is basically The Thing as a Superhero, he would win easily.

Batman.

Kirby would just eat the planet infected by the thing

Literally anyone with fire powers.

Again, Godzilla.

Multiplayer Thing game when?

That is assuming The Thing wouldn't eat him first.

Alex Mercer survived a nuke, can pick up tanks, etc

We haven't seen The Thing do anything on that level

Isn't that a very easy target?
The Thing just needs to spit on his eyes and it will take maybe a few hours at most to infect his brain and take him over.

The Thing has an equivalent in the X Parasite from Metroid.
So Samus.

>Batman doesn't kill the Thing.
>Throws it in jail.

Any video game character that can just blow up a planet and breathe in space.

Armstrong, because nanomachines.

Batman has no problem with killing monsters.

Who would win, The Thing, or The Flood?

>out their

But The Thing is very intelligent

Godzilla's healing factor prevents infection. And even if it didn't, Godzilla's innards would be like walking into an active nuclear furnace. The Thing would be fried to a crisp.

And to the fact that he literally breathes nuclear energy, and he's Thing's worst nightmare.

Samus would beat it.

literally been there done that

The Thing easily.

The Flood is retarded enough to move all of its forces into one area where they can all be killed at once, so The Thing easily.

depends if the things viral dna can survive the heat and radiation.

The Flood

Maybe. Thats whats so scary about it: we just don't know. Does it assimilate on purpose? Or is it a mindless animal just doing things on instinct?

Malevolent intelligence won't save The Thing...just like Cazadores when they get shot in the head.

The Thing.
It's type of infection happens on a lower scale than the flood's.
Single cells of The Thing could infect Flood infection forms, but the other way around couldn't happen.

In the books the Flood could infect space itself, they're cosmic tier and put the thing to shame

It was building a craft to either get it back into space or to get off Antarctica and assimilate the entire planet. It sabotaged the blood supplies to prevent itself from being exposed. It knows what it is doing.

*ahem!*
Chosen Undead. Nuff said.

creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Dogscape
Who would win, the Thing, the Flood, or the Dogscape?

Ok how are they going to tell who's a fake and who's human?
And how will they deal with all the bugs and rats being infected?

actually no, the flood can explicitly use tactics, it just takes time to gather enough suitable bodies together to make a gravemind unit.

>infect space
But space is literal nothing, how the fuck does that work?

But Virus Alex has a conscience compared to The Thing.

I refuse to acknowledge Prototype 2.

Dhalsim's fireballs are actually spiritual projections that cause his opponents to experience burning without actually being set on fire. Assuming the Thing still reacts against it, his Yoga could be a practical way of detecting it without causing injuries to the uninfected.

Oh, and it also framed MacReady by taking his clothes, tearing it up, stuffing it into his furnace and leaving the light on so someone would come and find it.

>In the books the Flood could infect space itself
The fuck is that supposed to mean?

burning everything?

The same way characters in fiction can rip holes in reality or tear open dimensions with their physical hands.

It's fantasy, ain't gotta explain shit.

It doesn't mean anything. Halo is aimed at teenage boys, and so are the books.

>Their will ever be a dogscape vidya.

i know, i dont consider it canon either

>No vidya character can beat The Thing.

Anything non-organic.

Why does everyone assume that the thing touches you slightly and you instantly become infected.

In the movies there would only ever be one "Thing" despite interacting with the entire crew in one way or another (Like when they were all tied up on the couch, wouldn't he just infect all three and be done with it?)

There was a black hole that was assimilated by the flood, they used it to transport units anywhere they wanted in the universe.

...

What part of "No One Can Stop Mr. Domino" do you faggots not understand?

what

This is why Halo is so fucking stupid. You have a genuinely spooky enemy in the Flood and then you ruin it by humanizing it with the Gravemind and giving them magical powers when they are supposed to be a disease. Dead Space did the same shit with the retarded moons.

I have a feeling whoever wrote the Halo novels wanted to give Warhammer a run for its money when it came to powerlevels, so you get shit like that.

Capnter already said if The Thing could it would go around in public sneezing on everyone to spread itself.
Every cell is alive so its easy once cell in you will quickly spread and take you over.

FUCK YOU AND YOUR MARKER

Kirby
>but it would spit
Inhale
>but it would infect
He literally inhales toxic waste and garbage
>but it would multiply
>implying Kirby can't do that too
>but it would kill him from the inside
>Kirby is literally a void and he can even rearrange things in said void or spit them out

Also this guy

This is why The Thing should never be humanized or explained.
If you give it any more personality besides smart cold hunter in the shadows then it's ruined.

>There was a black hole that was assimilated by the flood
I can't even begin to visualize this.

>infected city

its barbecue time

Even 40k didn't do retarded shit like Chaos taking over literal nothing.

The Thing is more of a cosmic horror doing everything in it's power to survive

Exactly, Halo is trying to one up it

I agree Maxwell would just write "Thing Dead" and win

Why didn't the Thing do that in the movies than?

Or was it just an after-sight from the author

>There was a black hole that was assimilated by the flood
That's fucking stupid.

Too cold, presumably.

The Thing also needs time to assimilate an entire being. In the movies they find one of the guys halfway Thing'd

An ACU from supcom
Shit it just stupid strong

It couldn't do to obvious at that point.
Everyone already knows about it because of the dog Thing. and everyone was already staying away from each other and making their own food out of fear.
If The Thing went around sneezing on everyone they would quickly find it out.

OK, that's bullshit, even for eldritch horrors like the Flood.

Infected ships? OK.

Assimilating a black hole?

What kind of person even came up with something so stupid? How can something like that infect something that is a collapsed star. A collapsed star that collapsed under its own weight into something that is a freaking cosmic vacuum cleaner that sucks in everything with infinite force (light included) and is a creepy dot that even distorts space around itself.

I don't know why people get so bent out of shape over there being dumb stuff in the Halo universe, like they feel it threatens their favourite fictional universer or something.

luigi would succ the beast

Couldn't you just throw one of the many vidya robots at it? It can't replicate jewelry, it's probably safe to say it couldn't assimilate something %100 metal.
>but how would the robot know who the thing is
Bioscanners are a popular trope with bots, it could weed him out. He could put it out of commission, sure, but it's not guaranteed he'd win the fight

>Why do people get angry when "Dumb Inconsistant Bullshit" happens in "Favourite thing"
Huh, I wonder why?

The Thing loses to fire, Alex Mercer can't even catch on fire

Fucking this.
All these no video game character can kill X treads always boil down to this.

...

I don't meant that anyones favourite thing is the Halo universe, I'm talking about 40k fans who get all upset about dumb stuff in Halo, as if it's ok when 40k has retarded stuff but just completely out of line and not valid when Halo does.

Alex seems weak to getting shocked, either that or Cross had a retardedly strong baton

Keebo could solo the Thing

I like nearly all science fiction. What I don't like is when science fiction doesn't even make an effort at believability. Or logical sense. How the fuck does does the Flood "take over" a black hole? It's not an organic thing. It's a gravitic well. It's not even a physical body, it's a phenomenon.

"Assimilating a black hole" is a nonsensical jumble of words with no plausible concept behind it.

I don't believe you.

>the thing
>vs
>a pyromaniac who is permanently on fire

I love powerlevel threads but try to be original OP

I don't know, maybe you should read up on the Halo lore rather than taking a post on Sup Forums about it at face value.

I don't really know that much about the Halo lore, but I know the Flood can assimilate non-organic things through stuff like the logic plague, so I imagine there's some stupid mechanism to explain it somewhere.

...

A lot of robots could, this whole debate is stupid

It's not about it being non-organic, it's about it not being a physical thing. A black hole is not a celestial body. It's an enormously intense gravitational whirlpool. A concentration of forces. I know it's called after something physical, but it's not a literal hole. You can no more assimilate a black hole than you can assimilate velocity or magnetism.

A lot of people here seem to fundamentally misunderstand the Thing, it's not about a power fight between all the biomass of the Thing at the same time, the Thing obviously wouldn't just turn into a big scary monster that's weak to fire and try to BLAAARGHLE whatever character to death. It would be covert and subversive and hard to identify and attack opportunisticly where the character wouldn't know who is or isn't infected by the Thing or who to trust.

I'm not saying there aren't characters who couldn't beat it, but people posting characters like Flameman or Ignus aren't really understanding the situation here.

>The Flood went from being a zombie-like super virus to being transdimensional black-hole assimilating super minds
Good thing I dropped Halo after 3

Yeah I know what a black hole is, buddy, and you are talking to me like I know the whole story. I don't, if you want to find out go read about it. I'm just saying that people get butthurt about Halo being dumb but turn a thousand blind eyes to other franchises.

I don't even care about Halo that much, but the amount of butthurt it generates is astounding.

Doom Slayer.

>You can no more assimilate a black hole than you can assimilate velocity

Did you fucks even watch the movie? fire does not destroy the thing, they even state after reading blair's notes that the corpses were still alive.

Is Flash the worst written super hero of all time?

Not even close

Fire destroys it, but it has to destroy all of the cells otherwise its a moot effort

ATTOSECONDS

Only one Thing was still alive, the one the Swedes burned and the Americans brought back. They just didn't burn it hard enough, so the Americans burned it again.

So, haven't seen anyone argue against robots with bioscanners yet, wonder why that is...
