Sup Forums and leakfags said it was shit

>Sup Forums and leakfags said it was shit
>I'm having a fantastic time and one of the most humble nostalgia trips I've ever had

I didn't realize how much I missed a game as simple as SSS. Looks good, sounds great on an actual 3DS, and all of the changes are QoL improvements and changes that were in the original Japanese GBA version that Americans didn't get. Partners in Time remake when? You can argue Superstar Saga didn't need a remake but Partners undeniably does.

>that difficulty spike in the final area of Partners, with everything having a fuck-ton of HP for whatever reason
I'd like to see a remake of that, yeah.

I probably should've also added:
so that they can fix that shit. Improved visuals would be neat too.

I've actually never played any of the Mario & Luigi RPGs but I might pick this one up.

Sup Forums was just pissing the bed over the new sprites, which they're stupid enough to believe are all 3D models.
new music still has a ton of shitty shimomura reverb though and is underwhelming as fuck.

It's great, was one of the best RPGs on the Gameboy Advance and is still great on the 3DS. Superstar Saga is the one most people say is the best M&L alongside Bowser's Inside Story. The other 3DS games have gotten kind of a bad rep, so this is a return to form.

This game looks fucking crisp on the XL. No jaggies at all.

Beanbean Fields music is orgasmic and that's the one you hear the most

the original is still superior to me because of art style and menus, but this is how you do a proper remake

I wish the series didn't turn into shit. Paper Jam was unplayable thanks to those fucking Toads.

Paper Jam failed because they were limited to the assets Intelligent Systems had for Sticker Star and they had to strip the bombastic out-of-this-world plot they had in mind to focus on character interactions instead.

I'll give it this though, it uses the "mainline Mario world only" rule better than either Sticker Star or Color Splash. Tanabe is a hack.

>a return to form
>still a 1:1 remake
I wouldn't say so, it's good, yeah, but only because it's entirely based on the original, without touching the writing or other crucial aspects that made the 1st game so damn good

that means nothing to the future of this franchise, Paper Jam was the worst of them all and I wonder if they can go lower than that. Probably. Just look at Paper Mario.

I would still put PiT below Paper Jam. The battle system and QOL improvements like completely optional tutorials were one of that game's strongsuits.

Not really, it failed because it was a lackluster entry. Humor is worse than ever. Paper Toads. Boring story. The 3rd character adds nothing to the overall gameplay other than "look, it's paper doing paper stuff" gimmick.

And the world being entirely based on "mainline Mario world only" was a mistake. It looked like a top-view NSMB. I miss the visual odyssey that the first 3 games brought us. Beanbean Kingdom is among the most lively, creative game worlds I've seen, and that's something. BiS also has many visually interesting places that are different from most of stuff you see in mainline Marios.

>BiS
>lively overworld
>visual odyssey

Well there's your problem, user.

You took Sup Forums seriously.

>BiS also has many visually interesting places that are different from most of stuff you see in mainline Marios.

>beach
>forest
>grassland
>Bowser's Castle
>mountain
>Peach's Castle but evil

The artstyle in BiS was the pinnacle of the series. Everything looks good and, in some way, edible. Even the enemies are pleasant to look at.

>ignoring areas inside Bowser's body

All I see is the same generic NSMB bullshit

You said overworld you fucking shit obviously to imply distinction between Bowser's body and the overworld

I'd support you in your argument against BISfags, but on Sup Forums it's a lost cause. Most are incapable of seeing its flaws.

I just finished Bowser's Minions.
I expected just some short minigame so I was pleasantly surprised, it took me almost as much as the main game.
It was pretty fun too, even if there was much room for improvement.
Loved how it fit in the main story showing how Bowser's lost his memory, why the poisonous mooshroom ended up as a prize, etc. The cameos were nice too.

It's good, wish it had a better postgame.

Also, minion's quest is pretty disappointing. It was fun at first, but the experience gains are so shit that I feel forced to redo earlier levels.

>it turns out Starlow was hanging around in Beanbean Kingdom and Hermie III tried to use her as a Christmas star
Kek.

Yeah I had to grind to beat the last levels, and the Captains challenges were pure bullshit.

>starlow

>listening to when Sup Forums says "It's bad"
90% are falseflagging fanboys for another company or poorfags who cannot afford games.

Enjoy, OP. I got too many games on my plate, but I will be getting it.

SMRPG remake or PM64 remake (if anything, just to reacquire goodwill)?

Is cute!

>Brother bought a copy
>mfw he wont let me play til he's finished
>mfw I was the one who originally introduced it to him all those years ago
>mfw I'm too poor to buy my own copy
I HATE BEING POOR REEEEEEE

Personally, I don't really see the point of this remake. Why not just playing the original on emulator.

Open a Patreon and start begging like everyone else

>And all of the changes are QoL improvements and changes that were in the original Japanese GBA version that Americans didn't get

I always keep hearing this. What sort of changes did the original GBA Japanese version had the localized one didn't? I always just assumed both versions were the same. Was this a case of "American/European release releases first, Japan gets it later and much improved?"

I already know Nintendo'll do the exact same with Mario + Rabbids while implementing the DLCs in the Jap release, coincidentally on the same day the story expansion DLC will release elsewhere.

It's not shit, it's exactly like the original which was a good game, so this one is good too. It just didn't justify itself as a remake by not improving stuff

I found funnier when the minions considered recluiting her only to quickly discard the idea due to her jerkiness.

>The 3rd character adds nothing to the overall gameplay other than "look, it's paper doing paper stuff" gimmick.

Playing as Paper Mario was fun as fuck and this was the first M&L game to actually play as three different characters at the same time

Paper Jam's core gameplay was fun as fuck, but I'll agree with you that the cancerous Paper Toad missions and the overall weaker story really held it back and still makes it the worst entry in the series

>In JPN, the suitcase from the tittle screen makes a sound when it opens,
>Bowser's Sprite was redrawn
>The whole game was rebalanced so items don't overheal you and you have to find your way to break the game.
>Fawful uses Cackletta's battle theme instead of Popple's.
>There's Heal Blocks that heal you completly in like, 3 areas.

And it added a bunch of broken POW bosting badges that in conjucntion with Great Forced, allowed you to kill any boss in three turns. Not to mention the slacks that give you three free hits

I seem to remember that one of the captains liked her and the others looked him like he was crazy? Which one was he?

I replayed through SS, PiT, and BiS a few months ago. SS and BiS were great, but there was something about PiT that I just didn't like, by the time I got near the end I was forcing myself to finish it.

>are QoL improvements and changes that were in the original Japanese GBA version
Wait what?
What are those?

Good thing it's the shortest.

The only real song that i found disappointing was the battle theme. Not enough UMPH in it, not enough energy, not enough trumpets.

Pretty sure the Japanese versions of the original had Heart refill blocks, but only in like 2 areas, one of them being the sewers.

>looks good
Already you're lying. I can't believe how fucking ugly the art for this game turned out. What the fuck did they do to Bowser?

I don't have a 3DS but if I were interested in the newer entries would you guys recommend picking one up? Don't really know much about the 3DS games.

Only in Minions mode, thank god.

Yeah it has a lot of good games
Be sure to hack it so you can play GBA games too
Also Kid Icarus Uprising is THE essential game for the system, so pick that up too.

>he hasn't hacked his 3ds in 20-fucking-17
I mean, come on!

What about Dream Team? Pillow Island was an original location, full of new NPCs, species, and settings.

Not him but you can skip tutorials like Paper Jam now, fast forward dialogue like Paper Jam, you can select Bro actions on the touch screen instead of scrolling through them in other overworld, a recap feature from where you last left off, and etc.

Wait for Black Friday. If its anything like last year, they will sell last years Black Friday Exclusive N3DS regular size for $100, at all retailers and online.

>What the fuck did they do to Bowser?
GBAfags are mentally ill.

He's just shitposting, dont give him attention and maybe he'll post something less obvious

Having just finished the main campaign last night, I'll say this was definitely a nice throwback to one of my favorite childhood games. While, I would've been just fine playing the original again, it was nice to see things in a different light. The koopling fights are probably my highlight of all the changes.

>No Beanbean Kingdom on the Mario Odyssey atlas

I only played SSS on GBA and PJ on 3ds out of the series and really liked PJ

What's wrong with it other than toads?

No geno and the soundrack is hit or miss.
