The Evil Within 2

New thread because the last one got archived right after I asked my question.

What the fuck is Anima?

Are they trying to shill for a third game with that ending?

Either that or DLC

Anima? The personification of the main protag's fear of Beacon Mental Hospital in general. Well, that's my take. The obsession over us is a way to show how the memories of that place linger within Sebastian.

>What the fuck is Anima?
Some kind of virus/glitch in the STEM.

The matrix

She's a virus either from people's overwritten memories, or something that manifests in the system once a person's mind becomes unstable.

Friendly reminder: The game goes to shit once you defeat Stefano.

Except people that aren't Sebastian can also see her.

She can't just be a result of the memory overwrite process, because there are transformed mobius operatives as well.

Then why does she haunt other people? In the first house you find her theres a journal written by the owner that says she can feel her inside the house. Assuming Anime is tied exclusively to Sebastian, did she appear right after Sebastian got to Union or something? The journal entry was written then?

In the lab where you encounter Anima for the last time, the notes say people turn into the lost after being pursued by an "invisible force". Is that not Anima?

She also haunts the dude in the diner, who says that only he can see her (hence invisible force), and the mobius agent that was locked in the garage. If she's not the force that creates the lost and is just Sebastian's PTSD ghost, then why?

Fuck, this isn't the first time I've typed anime instead of anima.

Maybe she's a part of Ruvik that was left in Sebastian and is getting revenge in his stead against Mobius.

I hate those guys.

That part was pretty easy, at least compared to that room with all the fire dudes a little bit before it.

Also why was O'niel so fucking tanky? That shit took forever.

They needed to make you waste all that ammo you have stockpiled. It's not like regular enemies are going to use it up that late in the game.

His hitbox is bugged, maybe half of your shots actually hit him, at most. If you shoot him, and you don't see him react to it in any way, then his hitbox bugged out, and didn't register the hit.

Hm, since we might be here a while...
>favorite area
>favorite character
>favorite weapon
>favorite boss

Either game is applicable

Even if blood comes out?

>Primary antagonist of the first game and driving force of the events
>Not mentioned or seen once in the sequel
Reminder that Ruvik won.

...

I'm pretty sure the implication is they actually built union over the remains of the old STEM

Remember that artwork stefano made that was a bunch of bloody barbed wire monsters turning into the white semen goop?

It was titled "rebirth" which I thought was about the old stem being reborn

I said if he doesn't react to it in anyway. Bullet holes count as reactions.

>no suave trenchcoat outfit AGAIN

She's the result of overwritten memories conflicting with the new memories. She also has something to do with people who can't let go of shit, because once you let go of whatever haunts you, she fucks off. It's stated in game that who ever succumbs to her rather than getting over their shit are transformed.

joseph dlc confirmed

>not just backstabbbing him a bunch of times

Probably to make you waste all your ammo.

I'm playing on nightmare and never use ammo because stealth corner kills are fucking broken, so I had like 26 shotgun rounds and 48 handgun rounds and I used almost everything I had on him before he died.

That was by far the biggest letdown for me. Ruvik was a solid antagonist that could've carried several games.

One of the later filed proves that the overwritten memory hypothesis isn't true as Mobius members can see her. What I can surmise is that she is similar to the creatures in TEW 1: an emotion made corporeal. In Anima's case, she is likely fear of oneself or fear of one's past. Regret perhaps.

She's the personification of the process that creates the lost. Pretty sure any mental trauma counts.

>seb had beacon
>the residents had their minds wiped
>mobius soldiers were sociopathic killers

I got pretty heavy DLC vibes from this. Here's hoping.

I still don't get why people like Joseph, most boring character.

In game there was a 4th wall breaking scene showing the plans for the industrial and farming areas that could be added to union. I hope those are dlc areas they plan to include.

If Sebastian didn't have Myra, he would have Joesph.

He wasn't the most exciting dude but he had your back, even as both of you were slowly going insane. A character doesn't need to constantly be spouting off quips or doing backflips to be likeable.

That was areas planned to be added during the Union expansion, which was never done.

Honestly, having an open world hub in the industrial zone would sound so fucking cool. Missed opportunity right there

I spent the first half of the fight back stabbing and the last half using the revolver.

>only upgrade the pistols&sniper rifle with damage and crt sticking to the semi-auto because it feels like it does the most damage.
>get the revolver
After that I pumped up the harpoon bolts damage to 200 and shotgun mag cap by 1 at the end I ended up putting a bunch of parts into the AR damage but I never used it.

He rocked those stylish gloves

He'd have Kidman you mean.

All they'd have to do is change that line though.

>plans for the industrial and farming sections... seems they just finished them

The AR is kind of poopy garbage. I've been told that even fully upgraded it's underwhelming. Besides, you've got the crossbow and shotguns to deal with multiple enemies, and the burst handgun if you pre-ordered.

She's a lesbian. I mean, It's pretty fucking obvious. She has no interest in mean.

>runs through hordes of monsters wielding only an axe and busting their heads open
>goes through a suicidal breakdown, overcomes it, and then takes a bullet trying to protect you
>DLC shows him calming Seb down when Seb is pissed about something
He's a fucking BRO

>after all these years, TEW threads are finally okay
Feels good

Because bros before hoes.

"Broseph" is more like it.

Nice try keeper. I heard you only had 35 safes total, I will kill you every single time

The AR + Bullet Cascade can rape ass provided you're willing shell out the gunpowder to keep making the ammo.

>They could have tied him to the current story easily, consdering that he knows the most about STEM and Mobius he could probably hook up to new STEM remotely somehow
>He could be the one who wanted to take over the core so that he could collapse STEM and kill Mobius like Myra did
>There could be an interesting relation between him and Seb when Ruvik doesn't have even a small part of his old powers but they both realise they could help each other in their goals
>He could stay behind and sacrifice himself to destroy Mobius
There are so many good ideas they could have used for sequel, even if they wanted to keep that shitty "I need to find Lily" story.
Despite having so many options they chose the blandest shit possible, the only good writing and designs were from first TEW or unused stuff from first TEW, LITERALLY the only exception was Obscura and Stefano but apparently they were designed by first TEW designer before he left.

Also, was it ever explained how the fuck did they made STEM with Lily as the core?
The whole fucking point of Ruvik being core of the original STEM was beacuse Mobius had no different choice, Ruvik literally sabotaged the whole project to only work on him THE WHOLE FUCKING REASON WHY THEY TURNED HIM INTO A BRAIN IN A JAR IN THE FIRST PLACE WAS TO NOT HAVE TO SCRAP THE ENTIRE STEM PROJECT.
But then it turns out that they fucking kidnapped Lily fucking YEARS before Asylum incident to use her as a STEM core, what was even the fucking point of the first game then? The only sensible reason would be that they needed to gather data from original STEM to make the new one but even then before the events of the first game they used STEM hundreds of times on different people, they would pretty much have all the data needed by this point.

>Always liked the first one despite it's problems
>Bring it up in other threads
>Get called a tasteless faggot
>Second one comes out
>People now recognize the first one as good with flaws
Feels good.

>and then takes a bullet trying to protect you
Except he took a bullet for Leslie.

I just beat the O'neal and I only have Harpoon bolt upgraded to flaming. Despite doing both shooting galleries, I don't have enough weapon parts to hit the 1000 mark for other weapons so far. When I started this game, I thought bosses would give out quality materials like in the first game but the bosses in this are fucking jews. Only a few put out the good stuff, and most of that is in goo.

I want the poison gas bolts. I want the revolver fully upgraded. I want the shrapnel exploding bolt upgrade but there is never enough weapon parts. Each of these upgrades is 1k a pop, not to mention getting there in the first place. I've been scavenging so much that my play time is bloated. Despite just having beat O'neal, I'm at 17hrs played, while most people were done at 15hrs.

>Second game doesn't have a model viewer

>Always liked the first one despite it's problems
>Bring it up in other threads
>Get called a tasteless faggot
>Second one comes out
>People now call me contrarian that only pretends to like the first game beacuse the second one is more popular when I say it was much better than the second game
Literally can't win.

Besides Stefano and Obscura, I wouldn't want to look at anything in this anyway.
The Lost and Lava dudes are so boring.

The zambos from TEW1 sucked too but they did some interesting stuff like picking you up in that chest-high labyrinth with the spinning sawblade.
I just hate the enemies in 2 so much.

Was impressed with the administrators new look, but I really wish they could have kept some of the VAs from 1, his was such a good fit

>make him look good
>animate him like total shit
What was up with his absurd hand gestures when he's yelling at Kidman?

Speaking of the administrator, I doubt I need to point this out because I feel like it so dumb everyone is thinking it, but why the fuck did he have a chip in his head? If he has to have a chip why the same one as everyone else's where it can be exploited? You're telling me this is the most powerful organization in the entire world and the whole thing, including the leader just goes down like that? And he really didn't expect Kidman to have pulled her chip out before rebelling? How did these guys become so powerful?

I was kind of hoping he'd pull out some supernatural shit when Kidman had him at gunpoint, but all he did was stand still waiting for the guards and waved his hand around awkwardly at Kidman while she fried his brain.

>What was up with his absurd hand gestures when he's yelling at Kidman?

One word explains it all and once you know, it explains some of the other weird things.

Japanese MoCap Actors.

Heh heh, yea just keep at it. I'm sure you'll win eventually.

All mobius members have the chips to protect them from the effects of the wireless STEM. The exploit Myra used is likely an overlooked vulnerability that Mobius didn't notice, like those pacemakers that some guy figured out how to hack, it's probable that mobius didn't know about it.

So guys, be straight with me. Is DLC or TEW 3 possible at this point?

>Use classic suit and want to finish weapon upgrade trees in NG+
>Get to the first person view section

Well, time to play something else.

Maybe

eurogamer.net/articles/2017-10-16-the-evil-within-2-physical-sales-were-quarter-of-original

>The strongest organization in the entire world, the people who control all politicians and media outlets, the literal illuminati, overlooked a vulnerability that allowed every single member's brain to be fried simultaneously with the push of a button

On a related note, we never found out what happened to Sykes, but I guess if he got out he just died to the chip huh? Same with Hoffman, if Sebastian had actually managed to save her instead of her dying she would've just died to her chip anyways.

But the first person section isn't even that bad. It takes like five minutes to get through.

Death of the Outsider happened, anything is possible.

You mean the section that doesn't even last 15 minutes?

If you recall, Sykes said the first thing he planned to do upon escaping STEM was remove his chip.

>We never found out what happened to Sykes
He's pretty much dead.
>25% to actually leave STEM
>Even if he makes it out there's a big chance he would be killed / imprisoned by Mobius
>Even if he somehow wasn't killed by Mobius he would die beacuse of a chip anyway
There's like 0.0000001% chance he survived, so I really fucking doubt he did.

It can't be that easy can it? It's not like he could just start surgery on himself right after he gets out. He says himself he'd have to escape the building first. I guess since Kidman didn't mention anything about that he's probably just lost in STEM limbo forever. That's a pretty scary thought. Maybe Sykes has seen shit down there that makes beacon and union look like child's play.

Won't deny, I spoiled my experience by playing it on my PS3 when it came out. Replayed it a few weeks ago on my PC and it's easily the best game of 2014 now. I guess it was sort of a sleeper hit.

Kidman removed her own chip so it's not out of the range of possibility. Yea, that dream within a dream shit sounded creepy as fuck.

>beacuse the second one is more popular
>TEW1 sold millions while EW2 is a stuggling flop
The irony.

The vulnerability required a core to broadcast a signal from inside STEM, as it was collapsing. An event that was probably considered so unlikely as to be impossible. They likely never considered that someone would hate them so much that they'd be willing to kill themselves just for a chance at taking down Mobius.

>he's probably just lost in STEM limbo forever. That's a pretty scary thought. Maybe Sykes has seen shit down there that makes beacon and union look like child's play
>Yea, that dream within a dream shit sounded creepy as fuck.
Guys, guys.
DLC about Sykes stuck in the deep STEM when?

>They likely never considered that someone would hate them so much that they'd be willing to kill themselves just for a chance at taking down Mobius.

They didn't consider that when they hired the mother of a child they kidnapped to experiment on, and then gave her a high up position? Why did they ever trust Myra? Also what was the cause of Myra's wax form? Just her devotion to protecting Lily? Why wouldn't it talk to Sebastian? There were a lot of things in the second half that either never got explained or didn't get satisfying explanations now that I think about it. It was still enjoyable though.

Id buy it.

>the evil within 2
>getting any DLC or sequel

I love both games but come on.

Ended the game now.

I feel disappointed. I know the story of EW it's not the strongest point, but I appreciated the story of the first game.

I can't understand why they send they trashed it all. If you think to it the game would work a lot better if you remove Sebastian and use a new character that want to rescue his daughter from Moebius.

Instead we got a total character wash up with a family story,

I expected to see Ruvik every moment and instead I got nothing. I would have liked to found Ruvik as a new ally that want to destroy this new STEAM and Moebius. I always thought that was him that was destroing Union especially when Steafno mention HIM, instead we hot shitty nigger.

Ruvik chance in the story were endless instead he never appear, probably they wanted to keep him for a EW3.

I am sure we won't see Ruvik in any DLC, they will just have like char some idiot struck in Union on the sub level, remeber the hacker nigger.

I enjoyed the game, but the story it's worse than EW 1.

I felt like they were intentionally keeping Ruvik on the backburner for TEW 3 but now it looks like that's not happening :(

I was done with the game at 17 hours on nightmare and by the end of that I *only* had damage and crt on pistols 200% damage on the sniper rifle and 200% damage on the harpoon. needless to say your not going to be able to unlock that much seeing how I was only able to max out 3 (4 if you want to count the AR) and I pretty much looked everywhere. I would say sto stick to the revolver in only damage or high as possible because that can carry pretty well as long you can land head shots.

Who else was disappointed?

Get ready for this, sometimes people conceal their identity from others. As for the wax form, probably to due with her not being a suitable core candidate, same reason Union was breaking apart after Stefano was killed, instead of fixing itself.

I liked a anons theory that the post credits scene with the blinking stem pc are the mobius agents backupped in there.

it wasn’t wax, it was mothermilk.
She is obsessed with being a mom

You're telling me Myra managed to conceal her identity from the strongest organization in the entire world? The one that has connections in all aspects of society, including a huge portion of the police force Sebastian worked for?

That's why I'm planning on doing a NG+ run but on a lower difficulty than Nightmare. I heard your upgrades carry through so I'm ready to have more fun in a RE4 style.

Was it really supposed to be that? I guess I was stuck on the idea of it being wax because the first time I saw it I assumed it was Stefano's doing. Wax sculptures and all that.

Seriously though, the solidified version of it like on her face and stuff seriously looks like wax.

Kek I just ended the game just now as well

The worst part about the game is how it starts out open world, then all of a sudden it just goes linear as fuck. I mean why advertise it open world when barely even half the game is open?

Also the game is straight up broken, I ran into so much glitches. AI zombies randomly sticking to objects, me spawning with no hair, the black dude not even being in the safehouse. Terrible just terrible.

I give it a 6/10. TEW1 was better and scarier, this felt like an action game and a shitty knockoff of TLOU

>Are they trying to shill for a third game with that ending

You don't even know what shill means, retard.
God damn, that word should be wordfitlered or be a bannable offense because only fucking retards use it (and wrong).

I don't understand the inclusion of Classic mode in this game. Classic Resident Evil games were about moving quick, weaving through the enemies to avoid taking damage and conserving resources, but in TEW2 it's the opposite. I played up to finding the signal at the Pit Stop and it was boring as fuck because it was so slow and stealth was even more required then it was on Nightmare. I get what they were going for but this just is not the game for it, classic makes it a full on stealth game, not a survival horror game.

She had inside help from Kidman, Theodore, Torres, and possibly others.

Retard. Classic mode is literally a speed run. Literally just run past every common enemy, pick up key weapons on the way, and only save before bosses that gave you trouble last time around.

So 2 detectives, a regular soldier, and a cult leader were able to overthrow the entire illuminati with them being none the wiser

I thin the stealth focus was a big mistake on this one.

The second mistake was claiming that nightmare was more like the first game which is bullshit, its 100x more annoying.
Many of us played and beat the game on nightmare and where disappointed but then played in Survival mode and it was instantly better.
NIghtmare was a mistake.

Except that some enemies are much faster than you are, especially with no stamina upgrades (the two headed dog like things come to mind). I had not died at all up to that point it was just feeling really slow and boring. Plus thinking about the sections where I have to wait on a door or something while the crazy knife bitches chase me sounds just awful. Maybe I will boot it back up and continue that playthrough.

Akumu is the way to go on the first one desu.
